I was quoted a laughable amount for a new, never used, black trendy CC. I hadn't used it because I was so worried about scratching, etc. Well, after receiving that ridiculous quote, I pulled off the stickers, put my items in the bag and started using it. I love it now and I don't think I would ever sell it, but if I do sell it for a huge loss, at least I will get some use out of it! Great video topic!
I’ve sold a lot on Fashionphile mainly due to the convenience factor. A lot of their offers have been ridiculous. For example, my barely used Celine nano luggage and Fendi Baguette retained only 50% of its value. LV Multi Pochette Accessoires about 40%. What I find interesting though is that they sell these products only a few % off retail.
I’ve bought sold with FP. I also learned low balls come in also based on THEIR stock. It took 3 attempts over 2 years for them to accept an LV DE Favorite (old version). They finally offered me only $70 less than what I paid for it at the boutique. Why? Because I waited for them to have low stock of Favorites, I was offering a full set and there were no other DE versions on their site. 😀
Thank you for sharing the offers you received. In fact, all consignment or preloved stores offer very similarly. To understand this better, is simply to look at how many items they have on their website that have been there for months, if not years. These days, a Chanel classic flap won’t sell even at £3500 (I am from UK 😊, retail at £8675). If you have a jumbo, the resell value is even worse than that! Why? Because there are so many of them now, not that special anymore. If you see others are selling (they are not sold price, just advertising) on websites for much higher, ladies feel they were cheated on. But keep checking back on the sane bags on these websites, to see if they will finally sell, 99% don’t. So, the moment you buy from boutiques, expect 40-50% lost immediately on most brands and items. Even Hermes, I look at all those Evelyn bags, (not B/K/C), Evelyn are not quota bags, still not straightforward to buy in Hermes, They really don’t resell well. So, Beware, they are NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT investment pieces, only those that are truly rare and in sought after colour, leather, and in perfect condition. ❤😊 But if you have those, would you sell them? Once you sell them, you will regret.
I think you touched on something that needs more attention. These items ARE NOT investment pieces! I cringe every time I hear someone make that justification for buying a luxury bag. While some hold value better than others, very few increase in value.
Yeah, FP offered me $400 for a 2022 LV outdoor messenger bag that came with the box, dust bag, and receipt. It had been used less than 5 times. I paid $2200 before tax. And, I think I’m pretty realistic. If I can get 60% of the original value I usually can live with that. But, I’m not accepting 18% of the original value. They are selling the same item in worse condition for over 2k.
Wow…that’s terrible 🫣🫣 That’s my issue with FP - I know they’re in the business of making money, but don’t lowball people and then turn around and sell stuff for practically retail (they’re sticking it to both buyers and sellers at that point 🤦🏻♀️).
Yes, I tried reselling my Chanel handbag in the size jumbo, and they quoted it for 1,500. During that time you could send them emails about questions you have regarding the quotes so I did and it wasn't very nice. A few weeks went by and they requoted the bag for 3,500. I paid 5k for that bag, from them. I hate the games that they play.
After reading the comments, my first thought is 'your bag is used' . Regardless of the like new condition, the value of a luxury bag has alot to do with the experience of buying a new luxury bag. Going into the store or opening up the new package, that has value in itself. And its a value that is lost when you buy a bag used. You could probably say 50% of the value is in that experience. Maybe keep that in mind and not take it for granted? ❤❤
I see what you’re saying but I think you’re overstating the value of the experience. I’d say experience is maybe 30% and that’s being generous. A lot of us shop online and unless we’re content creators doing unboxings it’s really not that big of a deal. Not enough to say something that’s in pristine condition has lost 60-70% of its value because it’s not straight from the boutique. If that were the case they wouldn’t be able to sell it for 10% less than retail after lowballing you. It’s clearly about increasing their profit margin. That’s fine too, it’s ultimately your choice to sell to them or not but let’s not try to act like they aren’t getting over lol.
Hi, I am so happy that I found your channel because this is my first time selling some of my pieces to fashionphile . I’m selling a pair of my Louis Vuitton shoes that I only worn three times. my Louis Vuitton MM agenda that I’ve only used twice because I purchased the GM but I can tell you if they’re not gonna give me close to what I paid for. I’d rather just keep it and just enjoy my stuff. I just have so many pieces, but that’s OK. They’re beautiful . I might take your advice on trying to sell it myself. Thanks for your advice on selling items. I really enjoyed this video. Very informative.
Thank you ❤️✨ Yeah, it really depends on the item in terms of how close the quotes get to original retail…I’ve found it’s better to either hold onto things and enjoy them, or sell on your own. Good luck making your decision 🍀
I look at their site occasionally and it’s wild that they price a lot of items more than if you just bought it new at the boutique. And usually those items are readily available at the boutique so why not just buy directly? I sold a coin card holder to them and they priced it more than just buying new lol
Ok, this was the video I was looking for. Thank you so much for being so transparent. I just submitted my large calfskin YSL lou lou for a quote and I'm certainly not thrilled with what they offered. When I checked their site, though, I did see quite a few of these same bags (not nearly in good condition as mine) on sale. I guess I'll just wait for a second round and hopefully they'll have less in stock by then.
It’s a pain having to wait the 30 days to resubmit a request (I tried bypassing it, but their customer service is pretty strict about it), but you may get a higher quote the 2nd or 3rd time around 🤞🏼
Very useful info! I think when we think of good or bad offer is to compare to resale value on Poshmark etc (deduct30-40 for negotiations and 20% poshmark takes). Not new. Some of their quotes are great and some not. Worth a try and it helps to know I can do a few rounds of quotes once they expire. Nice bit of info. Thanks!
I’ve sold a lot to them over the years and I’ve noticed that items seem to retain a lower percentage of their value. There are some exceptions but I think it boils down to, like you said, the overall economic situation (and for some) a shift in buying patterns. At least what I’m seeing on UA-cam and Insta even those who went a bit crazy buying luxury a few years ago have also dramatically reduced or even stopped buying completely. At least for me I’m generally content with my collection but only add a couple things here or there as needed. I have actually fewer bags than 2 years ago but they all get used on a very regular basis. Interesting topic though! Hope you find a new home for your lovely goods. It’s such a shame to lose so much on them.
Poor Celine 😢. If I buy 2nd hand I’m looking to get roughly 40% minimum off what it cost at the time, not what it costs today. When you sell, you look at it with different eyes than when you are buying but both parties want a bargain, which is really hard to do. I haven’t sold anything but my purchases are very considered and I haven’t felt the need to sell yet.
I submitted an LV Toiletry Bag 26 in excellent condition and they quoted me $200. I had my daughter quote the same one two weeks later and they waited her $400. She is a new customer and I am not so I thought maybe it had to do with grabbing her business like a “hook”.
Huh, that’s interesting 🤔 My first reaction is to think that their inventory levels changed over those couple weeks, but that’s an interesting thought as to whether they give higher quotes to new accounts.
Amazing video as always 👍🏼 I’m trying to sell my Louis Vuitton psm but I’m afraid of what they are going to offer me. To me is those quotes are an insult and I will rather keep my bags. I sold a Gucci marmont belt and they give me $150 when I originally pay $400 but I couldn’t stand those belts anymore.
If the bag is not popular or they have too many from people dumping the same bag they don’t love any more you’re lucky if you get a 1/4 of what you paid. It’s happened to me and I just consider the time I worn it and cost per wear is less. Luxury is to be enjoyed, right?
Fashionphile just quoted me $1k for my barely used LV backpack in black empreinte leather! I looked on the site and they’re selling the same item for $2,700! No thank you .. luckily I’m not pressed to sell it.
I've held onto items after receiving quotes from Fashionphile. I haven't always received a higher quote by waiting the 30 days. Certain items they will offer more than others. It just depends.
ill rather buy from fashionphile than sell my items there. they offered me 2k for my chanel coco handle that i bought for 5300 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i was like umm no way
Yes, I submitted my YSL loulou medium all black and they offered me, get this…. $1075!!!!! I also submitted my Chanel dangle earrings, box tags everything, get this…. $400!!! I’ll sit on it or sell it on eBay. They play on people’s intelligence and finances. They really be getting over, I don’t care if it is a business.
Yes very low offers. I’ve been offered 1200$ for a 21 Mini Square in excellent condition. I decided to consign it somewhere else. I just want to make space, I really don’t expect much in the current market but 1200$ was laughable.
Hi Heidi, I hope that you are well 😊 As I’ve mentioned previously resale doesn’t really enter my head when making a purchase but I also don’t buy styles (anymore) that I feel will date too quickly because I don’t want to sell it 😬 it is ridiculous what you get back. I used to buy a lot of Jimmy Choo bags and I would spend $2-3k on one and I’d get back approximately 10-20% back 😩
Sorry but you're selling to consignment stores. They need to make money on it. It's a business. If you're trying to get closer to what you paid, sell yourself on eBay or something. When you work with a middle man, you're not going to get close to what you would selling on your own. You're giving up more money for the convenience and not having to deal with the hassle yourself.
The sad part is they low ball is, but charge more than retail 😵💫 I truly don’t understand their logic. Like why on earth would I want to buy a preloved bag for more than retail. I would understand for limited edition/hard to find item however, never for things that are available.
I’m considering selling a Chanel 19 but I’m not sure yet. I have a question, when it comes to submitting the complete set I was asked for my receipt which I have from from Chanel, my concern is that in the receipt there’s is a lot of personal information and I don’t want that for anyone to see. What do you do when you send your receipts do you black out the information?
Yes - if it were me, I would make a copy (keeping the original as-is) and black out my personal information or anything that could be tied back to me (like my client number) on the copy and see if that would suffice before marking up your original receipt. I’d assume they’re asking for it to verify the authenticity, but that’s interesting given they won’t include it when they sell it - a full set generally includes the item plus box, wrappings, dust bag, authenticity card (depending on the age), and original booklets.
Resale of luxury goods also depend on the economy. The economy is not good globally. Try to sell on your own, which has worked out for me at times. Please remember many will not pay new prices for a pre-owned item. Handbags are not investments.
Depends on the item. Typically, I’ll wait the 30 days (or shortly thereafter) and then resubmit. Or, if they have a lot of the same item currently listed on their site, I’ll hold off, while keeping an eye on their inventory and resubmit once it looks like they’re getting low on something.
My items? Yes - they're in like new condition (or by Fashionphile's standards, I'd rate them either 'Giftable' or 'New'…’Excellent’ at the very least).
Fashionphile is fairly convenient (no haggling, quick/easy payment, no potential drama with buyers, etc)…but there’s the trade-off in not getting the most for an item.

Good for you 🙌🏼 Glad you were able to start enjoying your bag - the trendy CC is a beauty 🖤✨
Heidi you know what would be a great part 2 for this video… what you were quoted and what comparable items are selling for on fashionphile
Oohhh, that would be a good follow-up 🙌🏼
I’ve sold a lot on Fashionphile mainly due to the convenience factor. A lot of their offers have been ridiculous.
For example, my barely used Celine nano luggage and Fendi Baguette retained only 50% of its value. LV Multi Pochette Accessoires about 40%. What I find interesting though is that they sell these products only a few % off retail.
Right?! I understand they’re in business to make money but talk about buying low and selling high 😳🤦🏻♀️
You enabled them to rob you. That encourages their lowball offers.
Better off selling it on your own on other selling apps.

They will buy it from you for $400 and then sell it for almost the price of a new one at the boutique lol
So bad and yet, so true 😂🤦🏻♀️
You are the first person to go into detail about pricing! Thanks for the info!
Yes, I tried reselling my Chanel handbag in the size jumbo, and they quoted it for 1,500. Absolutely - glad the intel was helpful! Best of luck to you in playing the Fashionphile waiting game with your YSL Lou Lou 🍀✨
This was a geat video. That's why I'm trying a Vlog sale. They would give you $1,750 for that Chanel and then sell it for $3,000+.
Exactly - they’re the masters of buy low, sell high 🤦🏻♀️
Thanks for this video… I needed to hear this. My last quote was a joke. I’ll wait it out and resubmit.
It’s a pain having to wait the 30 days to resubmit a request (I tried bypassing it, but their customer service is pretty strict about it), but you may get a higher quote the 2nd or 3rd time around 🤞🏼

Yes - the luxury space is quite different versus a few years ago. It’ll be interesting to see how things continue to evolve 🤔

Yes, very true - buyers and sellers are looking at things with different eyes, making it very difficult to meet somewhere in the middle🤦🏻♀️
I really enjoyed this video - thank you so much for sharing, find topics such as this so so interesting !!
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it 😀✨

I'm happy for you that you got the $700, but the wallet, now 4 years old, I would expect the lower price.
I've held onto items after receiving quotes from Fashionphile. I haven't always received a higher quote by waiting the 30 days. Certain items they will offer more than others. It just depends.
It really does - thanks for sharing 😀✨
Great concise videos Heidi 👏
Thanks, Dayle ❤️✨
I’m done. I played the game! It’s over. Infiltrated by evil doers…the bag game is done. I’ll take over my game..thank you very much!
Totally fair 😀✨
ill rather buy from fashionphile than sell my items there. they offered me 2k for my chanel coco handle that i bought for 5300 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i was like umm no way

Ha ha ha I’m with you on this ridiculous price quotes Fashionphile offers are not good at all keep trying I’m sure you will get lucky

10-20%?!? Wow 😳🫣 Definitely goes to show that you should buy what you like and get enjoyment out of stuff, first and foremost.
Sorry but you're selling to consignment stores. They need to make money on it. It's a business. If you're trying to get closer to what you paid, sell yourself on eBay or something. How long do you usually wait to resubmit? TFS
Depends on the item. Typically, I’ll wait the 30 days (or shortly thereafter) and then resubmit. Or, if they have a lot of the same item currently listed on their site, I’ll hold off, while keeping an eye on their inventory and resubmit once it looks like they’re getting low on something.
Fashionphile offered me $3100 for my black classic Chanel double flap caviar 21 series 1 wk ago
Only $3100?!? Wow 😳
Are the items in like new condition?
Right? There is a lot of context missing here. Including whether FP already has a lot of these items in stock and doesn't really need more.
My items? Yes - they're in like new condition (or by Fashionphile's standards, I'd rate them either 'Giftable' or 'New'…’Excellent’ at the very least).
As I mentioned in the video, it's all about timing 😉
@@simply_her_perspective Good luck, and I hope your next round of submissions yield better quotes.
Thank you - here’s to hoping 🤞🏼✨
Jeebus, those are such insulting quotes. UGH. Thank you for doing this video.
Right?! They’re so bad 🫣🤦🏻♀️
2 quotes? i didn’t know you will get 2 quotes from them
Their quotes are good for 30 days. If you don’t accept the buy-out offer, you can resubmit for another quote.
Why don’t you sell them yourself?
Fashionphile is fairly convenient (no haggling, quick/easy payment, no potential drama with buyers, etc)…but there’s the trade-off in not getting the most for an item.
