I am really looking forward "The Future", I loved "The Power" so much. Really looking forward to getting a copy soon :) I'm so relieved you gave it a 4.5! X
It's so interesting to hear your book reviews. We have some overlap but some wildly different ones! The Secret History is my 2nd favorite of 2024 so far
Just finished The Institution by Helen Fields. I know you've been looking for a 5 star thriller, this may be it. I really enjoyed it. Show burn, tense second half and I'll say no more, lol.
Haven’t had a great reading year so feel like I have been in a slump. I also read the quiet tenant this month which was highly anticipated for me and I just thought it was ok. The main character frustrated me a whole lot as well. Just picked up the other side of night so I hope I love it. Great video Ashley.
The MC in The Quiet Tenant frustrated me too - I was screaming in my head "why aren't you trying to get out?!" but I guess that was probably the author's point haha. Hope you enjoy The Other Side of Night!
I didn’t care for The Wishing Game either but loved The Secret History ( and I don’t like dark academia usually). Here’s to a great May reading month 🎉
I'm so glad to hear that I wasn't the only one who didn't love that Victor LaValle book (which is interesting because I loved one of his later books, Lone Women--I think that was one of my favorite titles last year!) And the Quiet Tenant kinda surprised me, I had zero expectation for it, and so I found it pretty riveting. And because of the situation that the one character is in, and the things she had to endure, I was very grateful that many of her experiences at the hands of her captor were only hinted at. In another writer's hands it could have been pretty gratuitous and awful.
I have the same opninion as you about Local woman missing and She's not sorry. And yes, the ending of She's not sorry is very anti-climatic and I also gave it 3.5/5
I didnt love Secret History, literally stopped reading it within the first few chapters.. Dark academia might not be for me 🤷♀️ Husbands sounds like a really unique concept!
Hey Ashley, I've been following you for a long time and love your content :) I just wanna say that that hearing you are boycotting a company based on some comments from the Israeli side of the ongoing war in my country is heart breaking. I wish those boycott movements that love to hate on israel will also boycott the same people who murdered and kidnapped my friends and refuse to even share a list of names of the kidnapped civilians. I hope you guys in the state will never learn what it's like to be a broken family waiting for a massage that your loved one is alive in a tunnel 15 km from your home. Have a great weekend.
Totally agree on Secret History, I might have enjoyed reading it more when I was younger, or before consuming other better things in books/movies/shows, but I thought it was so boring and couldn’t wait for it to be over. I have The Future on my tbr so I’m glad that was good! And adding Other Side of Night, thanks!
Thank you so much for supporting the SMP boycott, it makes me appreciate you even more!

I added the husbands to my tbr a few days ago. Glad to hear you liked it!

I already know you said you might be done with Freida McFadden, but One By one is very good book by her and I would give it a shot.
thank you for putting chapter listings. i always enjoy your wrap ups.

We disliked almost the exact same books in the same month!!! Thanks for the validation lol I hope May is a better month for both of us.

I enjoyed Head of Ghosts. Would read his latest.
Love this wrap up!! 💗💗
Oh no I selected Ministry of Time for my Book of the Month 😅 it sounded so promising.
I wonder what the writing style is like. That's what I keep hearing about this book: the writing style.
I didn’t care for The Wishing Game either but loved The Secret History ( and I don’t like dark academia usually). Here’s to a great May reading month 🎉
The wishing game was a great book. You should have continued and get to know the characters.
I’ve been soooo curious about Mistakes We Never Made haha that’s a bummer to hear it wasn’t great 😅
I was just glad it was readable at least - you never know with celeb books 😅

Totally agreed! I appreciated the way it was handled too

Going to have to give Paul Tremblay a try. Where would you start?
I read A Head of Ghosts by Tremblay. I enjoyed it.
I think Disappearance at Devil's Rock or A Head Full of Ghosts would be a good starting place out of what I've read from him!
@@ashleyslittlelibrary Thank you!

I've read the downside of being Charlie and rated it 5 stars cuz of the ending. Season of the wolf by robin summers is good I rated it 5 stars.
the wishing game was my WORST book of last year and ive seen nothing but love for it, glad i finally have a fellow hater haha
hahahah amazing I felt the same, there's soooo many positive reviews
I enjoyed One by One.
I didn’t care for The Wishing Game either. It was so hyped up but it was only meh to me.
What is monga? Haven’t heard of that. All I see online is the name of a movie?
Manga is “an umbrella term for a wide variety of comic books and graphic novels originally produced and published in Japan.”
My kids love spy family :)
Ooo I have an arc of the ministry of time too 🥹
What is the writing style like?
