One of the most important moments of the game in my opinion. It gives a more "human" aspect to our character. We learn that the warden wasn't just like "F*ck this sh*t I'm out" when leaving at the end of their origin story to become a Grey Warden and actually lived with regrets up until the Ashes' quest. Maybe the warden was hesitant about whether they could face the archdemon or not. But after forgiving themselves in this scene, the warden finally finds the strength they needed to move forward and accomplish their destiny.
The worst part for the Dalish elf is knowing that you do see Tamlen again in the worst way possible. Dalish elf origin is my favorite for many reasons, but that is definitely one of them. It really tortures you.
I'm sure it's intentional in a sense that Tamlen's spirit is telling you that his soul is at rest already, and that his corrupted corpse that walks around Ferelden is nothing more than a shadow, a decaying vessel, his soul is not in there.
Tamlen turned into a ghoul, a being that is blighted, surviving the taint and seeks the darkspawn. They suffer a slow painful death, they lose humanity in the process. Its similar to the dark sign in Dark Souls. I believe your supposed to kill Tamlen at the camp BEFORE you go through the gauntlet at haven. It would make more sense, but, I dont tell how people to play the game.
My father died almost a year before this game came out, unexpectedly. So for me Human Noble still rings a bit in there in the feels for me. Much less these days... still is the first origin I played and the one I frequently go back to on replays. Old man was the one that got me into the fantasy genre and into reading as much as I do. So it’s not an unpleasant memory completely. It’s a really old video I know, still my take on this particular part of the game.
I loved the comment from Leske... "you gotta go to Andraste with a joyful heart, right? She's like a Paragon for humans." Of all of them, I'd say that the Casteless' was the funniest, but the Human Noble's was the most emotional.
Honestly meeting your father in human noble arc was pretty heart wrenching. I only wish we had a little more time to spend with your family so the impact could have been better.
The two continuning parts of this series Dragon Age II and Dragon Age Inquisition don't have an origins story. DA2 don't even have an option to take differend races. You are always the low noble Hawke at the beginning and in Inquisition you can play as human, dwarf, elf and even qunari but your pre story for each race is always the same. Even when you are a mage. And you don't get to play those. They are redy written. Like if you start at Ostagar in DAO.
LisDraconis22 no, some of them change depending on if your a Mage, with Elf your the Keepers apprentice instead of another hunter, Qunari you are more respected due to your magic, but Human is the only real change With a normal human you are a normal noble, but if you are a mage your still part of that family but were sent to the circle at a young age, think Origins Human Mage and compare them to Hawke, Hawke was a normal man/possible apostate shielding their sister, think that as Trevelyn normal, then take the circle mage, sent to the circle very young, both are the same but had very different lives
Human Noble for me is the best Origin ( but castless dwarf and city elf is also good written). And the most tragic and hearthbreaking- Human Noble Aedan for me is very simmiliar to Jon Snow fate (without his bastard heritage) - Killed family, taking to Night's Watch, Figthing with Darkspawn. An that scene - "My dearest child" hit me most.
@@demonangel918 Tamlen broke me.... Especially when you see him second time at the camp... In my story i warned him several time to return, but he was just too stuborn... but what happened to him, that was quite terrible

This was perhaps one of the most underrated things about DA:Origins, that it treated all races evenly and gave you unique dialogue and options specific to your race which gave the game massive replay ability. This wasnt the case with Inquisition which focused mainly on elves. if you played an elven character you were opened up to so much new and unique dialogue and options, with humans and dwarves it was done on extremely rare occasions. And dragon age 2 was...well...pretty shit
I kind of liked DAII much more than the Inquisition. The Inquisition felt so empty and so meaningless. I played hours for those little DAO moments. Like when you talk to the Templar Cullen, or Cassandra. When they siege Haven. The rest of the questing, running here and back, meaningless side-characters. And even that is heavily connected on DAO. For example I really liked how Cullen turned out.. not so much Lilliana. The cities and places were all empty, monoton, and again.. meaningless. 0 replayability. And the fight system with the whole UI! DA II was pretty weak, sure. But it had great moments, great characters, interesting plots and locations. Things to do, discover, push the plot, visit the characters. I think DAII was centered around a certain family like feeling, Which! You kept losing. Time after time people kept dying you loved. When DA II came out I thought it was a pretty big letdown, now after Inquisition I think it's pretty good.
Human noble hurts so much because practically you had everything you can wish, Nobility, a Lovely family, friends and the freedom to decided your future and you lose it all in the worst way, meanwhile otherd Origins the outcome it's more positive, you know you Warden never will have that happiness again
Everybody else is commenting how they cried when they played this part! I played as an elf mage, and Jowan literally annoyed me troughout the whole game. By this point I just wished he could leave me the heck alone
I totally symphatized with Jowan, but sure. I think there should've been a chance to not help him at all. ..or make him desperate and pull the guilt on you in a way you actually care. In case of Trion (played both so many times!).. I didn't really care. He was a pretty okay character, but I didn't had any connection to him. Bellen or his father might've been better.
Jake, Ye! I mean we know Trion for 5 minutes best. But his dad? He died in guilt and shame thinking that his sons killed each other. His favorite son dead, the one readied for the throne dead. The only one left is a power maniac who will ruin his legacy and the honor of the family.
Absolutely. The dwarves were dying out. He ceased and outlawed in-fighting between clans. Pushed back the darkspawn, new colonies. The surface trade is correct and the low-class have been either recruited or dealt with. The amount of good Bhelen did is just unmeasurable. He is a dickhead, sure. But really? Harowmont gets poisoned in his first years of ruling and than the dwarves start killing each other.
Trian coming to talk to you was the one I liked the most. Given the history and and blood boiling between you two it’s nice to know he wanted you to move on and not blame yourself for his fall. Also it’s a bit ironic that tamlen and Leske both say you will not see them again and yet you literally do. I also don’t understand why jowan was the one who appeared, never really hated him but never liked him either.
Thanks for this comment! I was just wondering wtf, since I'm doing dwarf casteless origin right now, orzammar before andraste's ashes, saw this video and was all wtf, why Leske is so nice while he actually you know ;)
And the trend of the Dalish being SO DAMN DEPRESSING continues. Every time it's just a kick to my nonexistant balls. I really got to go back and play more; I only have the Dalish and mage endings. GOD I've put hundreds of hours into this game and I'm still not done! The gauntlet is one of my favorite places, though. You've had just under a year to mourn your loved one and/or ream yourself over your mistakes. Your character has had time to grieve. Hell, you get it to. I was broken up over Tamlen, man. Now, they come back to your character and reassure them of their path. Give you, the player, something to think about. By this time, enough game has gone by that you're probably attached and so immersed it feels almost personal. Great game.
No Cole is still in the fade at this point giving gentle touches of compassion with whispered words. Only 10 years later would he be able to take physical form and able give people things.
I know. I like to think that Trian had been so protective of the Warden, that he pushed them away so nobody could hurt them to get to him. He was truly the most heartbreaking to me, because if we didn't decide to fight him, the Warden could feel guilt for not being there in time to save him.
I loved both games for themselves! People should stop comparing dragon age games with origins,, Yes origin was brilliant but so is Inquisition! It's just different. (although i had a hard time playing dragon age 2 because of the tiny wolrd and repeating dungeons..)
I prefer the Human Noble origin version because it felt the most authentic among the others. The other versions felt more like what The Warden wanted to hear from those people in their past
Answer to a 4 years old comment, but I feel like it. The thing is, they are most propably spirit of compassion, they want to ease your pain, to help you letting go the burden you have. It's normal they tell you what you want to hear in this case.

While human noble is heart wrenching, Dalish is also very much so. Personally, I'd say Dwarf Noble hurts a great deal, more so if you actually were the one who killed Trian, to hear your own brother forgive you and grants you his blessing would have me bawling if I was in the Warden's place. Dwarven casteless is also heartbreaking, more so if you do this part before going to Orzammar and you find Leske being part of the Carta and you're forced to kill him. I wish you could convince him to stand down and spare him, but I guess he just had nothing left to lose at that point, which makes it so much more sad imo.
It's too easy to say "oh it's all the Maker" and crap like that... But the really interesting question to be asked is "how do they appear as people we know?" I hope something in the future makes this more clear.
I never felt any connection to Jowan. I don't get why he's played out to be this close friend of yours :| He neither learns from his mistakes, nor really returns any of the favors he asks of you.
@@floppydisksareop . Yes, after almost causing Redcliffe's destruction, and he wasn't even the one who solved the problem, he doesn't deserve to a third chance.
they missed a great opportunity there but people should really stop comparing DAO with the next dragon ages, DAO was wonderful but a second as good as the first will not be easy to make
StivKobra Maybe it's because Inquisition was the first game in the Dragon Age series I played, but I vastly prefer it to Origins. I just finished my first Origins play through and I felt way more emotionally invested in my Inquisitor and their story and companions then I am with the Warden. I feel like the reason everyone sings Origins praises is because it's the first game and so everyone has a special fondness for it.
Kia Maria Origins has set a bar pretty high, some people believe that Inquisition reached it. The characters in the Inquisition are great, there are a lot of companions with unique banter, there are some very hard decisions. But honestly, like a couple of people have already noted, I didn't feel like Inquisitor was really me. I felt more immersed with my Warden, putting myself in the narrative. A reason for that is: Warden is silent. It's just my opinion, but by projecting my voice in my head through the warden by choosing exactly what I want to say gave me more Immersion than auto dialogue from the choice wheel. I liked talking with my companions in certain areas, asking Leliana about the history of that area. The banter is marvelous in DA:I (Sera FTW), the best one out of three. Romance was interesting, I approve of the companions having their of sexual and racial preferences, giving them more depth. Another major thing why I love Origins is in the title itself. Origin stories were unique, 6 different threads tying into a common story. Sure, Inquisition gave us hints about what the Quisy was before the Conclave went all kaboom, but that ruined my immersion into him. I was hoping the final battle in DA:I would do the Mass Effect 2 Suicide Mission, it would have brought a feeling of risk and more care for the companions. To sum it all up, here's the things that DA:I did wrong (if it had fixed the following things, it would have been my personal favorite - I played through Origins 10 times, DA:2 through 4 times, and I'm on my second playthrough of DA:I, since I got a PC which could run it only a few months ago): - No Inquisitor backstory/origin. - Inquisitor feels more like a character of its own, than me being the one (like, for instance, playing as Geralt in Witcher you don't feel like you are the one in the story). - No Architect. - No final mission risk. - Hawke was very underwhelming and weak. - No healers (like for real, no healing spell? A great shock and disappointment). - ''Grab my hand and you are alive'', breaks immersion and dumbs down the difficulty. Those are the worst things, in my opinion. And these are the best, which makes me love DA:I and forgive it for the previous cons: - Great companions in terms of character, banter and romance. - Cullen (I knew he would take a major role in Inquisition before it was released, a very well done character) - Morrigan. Nuff said. - More dynamic fight mechanics (some people don't like it, especially PC users, but I am a PC user and I like the new mechanics, the fight seems more alive). - Music, especially bard songs. - The actual threat and setup, it's on par with the darkspawn and civil war threat from Origins.
Brian Bloom is pretty famous voice actor. He voices dwarfs in Origins, Varric, Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein, some characters in Mass Effects and many other games.
Mage: okay so all the other gets there loved ones, friends or Family, but all I get is Jowen I don't even like him that much..............this is so unfair.
hey dana i heard that if u defeat the archdemon and survive at the party each origin has a specific guest like the brother or the noble could u do that next
After replaying the Dwarf Noble again, it's very clear that creatures that prods the thoughts of Dwarves will not be able to do its job properly unless the Dwarf has something massive in its thoughts like Oghren. That depiction of Trian is just so bad, almost as bad as Flemeth in the Fade. I know that the point of this is to give some reprieve for the Warden about its past, but this is like Kylo Ren "seeing" Han again in the Rise of Skywalker. It's a projection that basically says "I did nothing wrong, I should forgive myself". I suppose I looked at this as a Dwarf who has a burning hatred for religion and especially the Maker.
What do you have to say for them to give you the item? I've always gotten it before, but when I got here on my dwarf noble today Trian didn't give me anything. I assumed it was because you get the shield from Gorim
The only thing i didnt like about DAO is that the face tattoos are created by someone who shouldn't have any design choice for tats xD Great game but that's the only thing that was like :'(
But you could paint the walls red and leave stacks of mangled guards everywhere according to the rescue the queen mission idle chatter . and off the whole Vaughnn bloodline.
Why would they show a character you never meet also you become a warden because you were forced to save your cousin or you were captured with her by time you find her she was rape so you carry guilt

But the really interesting question to be asked is "how do they appear as people we know?"
I hope something in the future makes this more clear.
Magic? The only possible solution is that it has some way of reading your memories and adapting to them.
Well, it seems the Maker answer is not crap at all.
Thought Shianni would be pissed because I pretty much sold her. :|
the only two living with dopplegangers are Shianni and Jowan.
Leske if you do this before orzammar
I never felt any connection to Jowan. I don't get why he's played out to be this close friend of yours :| He neither learns from his mistakes, nor really returns any of the favors he asks of you.
GOTHICforLIFE1 Never understood why people felt sorry for him and want him to join the party.
@@deathsdoor07 he does change his ways after getting caught in Redcliffe
And he even wanted to use the Warden as a scapegoat when he tried to flee the Circle.
@@floppydisksareop . Yes, after almost causing Redcliffe's destruction, and he wasn't even the one who solved the problem, he doesn't deserve to a third chance.
Let's see if Dragon Age: Inquisition can beat a story like this!
It hasn't. Not enough character development. Too much bumf and menial side shit.
***** Indeed, a unique prologue depending on both race and class. Damn, Bioware missed an epic opportunity.
they missed a great opportunity there but people should really stop comparing DAO with the next dragon ages, DAO was wonderful but a second as good as the first will not be easy to make
StivKobra Maybe it's because Inquisition was the first game in the Dragon Age series I played, but I vastly prefer it to Origins.
To sum it all up, here's the things that DA:I did wrong (if it had fixed the following things, it would have been my personal favorite - I played through Origins 10 times, DA:2 through 4 times, and I'm on my second playthrough of DA:I, since I got a PC which could run it only a few months ago):
- No Inquisitor backstory/origin.
And these are the best, which makes me love DA:I and forgive it for the previous cons:
- Great companions in terms of character, banter and romance.
- Cullen (I knew he would take a major role in Inquisition before it was released, a very well done character)
- Morrigan. Nuff said.
- More dynamic fight mechanics (some people don't like it, especially PC users, but I am a PC user and I like the new mechanics, the fight seems more alive).
- Music, especially bard songs.
- The actual threat and setup, it's on par with the darkspawn and civil war threat from Origins.
Leske sure sounds much like Varric.
Same voice actor
Brian Bloom is pretty famous voice actor. He voices dwarfs in Origins, Varric, Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein, some characters in Mass Effects and many other games.
Mage: okay so all the other gets there loved ones, friends or Family, but all I get is Jowen I don't even like him that much..............this is so unfair.
Human Noble has the best dialogue. The rest feel flat and gives away the feeling that they were there for the sake of it.
*Human noble and Dalish
Literally right after I got back to camp Tamlen attacked us. Wtf I wasn’t ready
That's the sort of thing to make a guy go full renegade.
Huh. Varric's looking less chest-hairy 😜😜
Let me just tell you on the test thing and it showed your dad….that hurt
hey dana i heard that if u defeat the archdemon and survive at the party each origin has a specific guest like the brother or the noble could u do that next
that is quite true, each origin has a guest at the party.
This video is made of pain
Wait I don't think I got anything from my father when I played through this section as a Human Noble, how did you get him to give you something?
2:05 Spoiler alert - he _lied..!_
Oh goddamn... teared up on a few of these!
thanks for the video man ^^ !!! good effort ^^ !!!
Sorry trian
My son will have your name
Mardy liked it 😁
What do you have to say for them to give you the item? I've always gotten it before, but when I got here on my dwarf noble today Trian didn't give me anything. I assumed it was because you get the shield from Gorim
The only thing i didnt like about DAO is that the face tattoos are created by someone who shouldn't have any design choice for tats xD Great game but that's the only thing that was like :'(
Is there a filenfor if you're a human commonor origin for this mission?
Couldn't save Shivani? I thought you could..
Well basically you couldn't save her in time before Vaughn did what he did... :(
But you could paint the walls red and leave stacks of mangled guards everywhere according to the rescue the queen mission idle chatter . and off the whole Vaughnn bloodline.
What mod did you use to get the armors for your wardens?
😲😲😲 never ever seen the royal dwarf one.you betrayed me leske,i dont forgive you.
Can u give me the sliders of your human male noble!!??
Why is the City Elf one showing someone who’s STILL ALIVE? That’s just disrespectful.
Why not their MAMA, Adaia? Missed opportunity, BioWare.
Why would they show a character you never meet also you become a warden because you were forced to save your cousin or you were captured with her by time you find her she was rape so you carry guilt
Leske ? Wait, Varric ?
Damn you, Leske
i will never understand why so many guys play female characters on rpg games.. lol
Like.. all playthroughs here. all female... genuine curiosity
I don't understand why people care.
@@suchiuomizu well.. its not really a matter of "caring".. its a matter of understanding why.
i would like to understand why so i can know what to push or trigger on ppls minds when i write my own stories.
@@dorguinas I do not play female characters in games but from what I have heard others say is they prefer staring at a women for hours rather than a man
Leske
Aww Trian and Leske.
So Bhelen actually sucks ?
