Casey I would too meet you in person I used to live in Winchester now I’m in the southern part of Va maybe we can have some coffee and share a few lessons with each other I really like this method your using this is the only method I’ve ever use on learning the banjo keep up the awesome work
That’s actually a much bigger question than a YT comment can hold I think. How long have you been playing, and how are you currently going about learning?
The absolute best thing you can do is to go to murphymethod.com and get New Beginning Banjo 1. (Actually the first lesson is posted in full on my channel here. Just search for banjo in the hollow.) Learning by ear is the way you want to go.

I'm a senior learner, everything I've read has said, memorizing doesn't work at this stage. Suggestions? (Evidence based research)

It's worked for me ( not senior yet, I'm only 60 & learning for 3 years) but I've learned to trust in neuroplasticity.
Just do it!
