- Welcome back everyone! Mixed it up a little today, and certainly made the best out of this day. I had to work that morning so Jack graciously took up the GoPro! Rick, Jerod, and crew had a busy day over at the Vietnam War Flight Museum, and we got to fire up the Me-262 in anticipation for her upcoming airshow appearance in Tyler, Texas.
For those of you that are on Instagram, check out Jack's page, as he regularly posts stuff from the hangar. His page is at:

what a great video and collection of amazing airplanes. I wish that I lived close enough to visit. Thanks for the videos
It's amazing
ME 262
I am glad to see modern reliable jet engines even though it looks the same.
The engine pods are identical to the originals, just the engine itself is more modern. GE CJ-610 engines, similar to what was used on early Lear Jets, and is also the engine core for the afterburning version (GE J85) used in the F-5.
Bravo. Perfect. Go ahead
Have always liked the 262.
Wow me 262 its amazing crazy
Man, the 262 is a gorgeous machine, that's for sure.
Oh, btw, about the 46s... the green one, definitely 😁.
Sure would like to see an original 262 engine with the chainsaw motor with pull starter run. I know “unobtanium”. When I was stationed in Germany, the Frankfurt airport had one on static display. Pretty nice to see one run though. You guys keep rockin.
You are in luck! There is one museum that has a restored Me-262 with Jumo 004 engines. Here's a link to the video they did a few years ago. Unique sound for sure on the startup, almost sounds like a chainsaw. ua-cam.com/video/8Azxzu1sqCU/v-deo.html
@@DieselThunderAviation thanks
Awesome! I won’t be able to make WOH this year, however my parents have a place not too far from Tyler!
Thanks for the Video!
Great to see the 262 get fired up! Looking forward to some footage from the airshow.
Indeed! I'm sure Rick or Jarod will post some video from that flight.
Great video guys! Thanks phor sharing!
Great to hear a Learjet CJ610 engine start!
Put a pair of Junkers Jumo engines back on that bird and lets see the rings quiver!
Thats a whole lotta great old aluminum 👍🏻🤩😎
Even though it sounds modern… it still sounds good 👍🏻😎🌞
Sure does!
Both DT AND The Rockin' Rookie in the same episode?? 👍👍👍🙂
I like the green on the CH-46 but I was Army.
Too bad about the Gnat, but British equipment + electrical problems, ouch. Good luck.
On the bright side, I don't think that is a positive grounded system, like a lot of their cars were!
Do the newer engines give the plane a performance boost? What are the specs for the 262 as it stands?
The 610's have more thrust than the Jumo 004's would have had. Don't have exact numbers as I don't know the specific model of the 610's. Performance wise, I think she's slightly faster than an original. No less thirsty though, flight endurance is roughly the same as an original.
The grey CH46 looks better than the green one.
Shame there's no airworthy Tomcats that you guys or the museum could get ahold of.
Or F111
Yeah, the Navy really missed an opportunity to keep one or two flying.
From what year is that 262??
2002 🙂
Very nice. Looks just like the original. Of course none of those are flying.
