- We challenged Chris Morocco to recreate Maangchi's seafood kimchi fried rice in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen. The catch? He’s doing it blindfolded with with only his other senses to guide him.

Firstly, I really think they should bring back Chris shopping for his own ingredients, and not just because of the shopping cart riding 😁. That's Chris' first chance to determine what should go in the dish and I love watching him thinking it through in the store! Next, there are never enough of these shows! Chris needs to be doing this every week. We need him to be doing this every week. And last, it's rare I feel this way when watching him reverse engineer a dish, but this time I almost didn't care how close he got. I just wanted to do a full on face plant into his food! Dang, it looked fab and tasty. Chris is a rock star of cuisine. 🎸 🎶

Agreed. I don't care about the video bit in the store! But I think he needs the exposure and reminder of the resources.

Interesting take. For me the grocery store part was always a waste of time haha. He is still identifying the exact ingredients he needs, he just isn’t going to get them himself
Let's be real for one second: the reasons he ain't going to the store are A) by giving him the ingredients themselves they can make sure he uses the exact same brands, thus resulting in a more similar taste to the original dish and B) He (seemingly) frankly doesn't want to, and we all know Chris is a lil' diva doing the show on his own accord

I see other say it too: Chris remains the only BA thing that bring us here , and it's happening rather rarely.
He needs 3 rounds, even if there isnt another shopping trip, he can swap back to what he did before or swap to a different technique or ingredient he was on the fence about.
Yesssss finally an episode with a specific chef's recipe again! These videos are so much more fun! And love the Maangchi vids in particular!

That's my thinking. That and possibly some technical issues with him shopping. For example, him buying ingredients they already have available (which is highly likely if he's successfully recreating the dish correctly).
I get that it's fun when he shops. But that's not what I watch these episodes for. :P

But regardless, my point is that people don't seem to appreciate how difficult this is, and I think many of us would love to see one of these judges try it, so they gain some perspective.
Can you please start reading the actual scores out loud for people who are listening but not watching? I usually just listen to most of the episodes while doing other things and I always have to go back and rewatch to see what the score is :/

It feels like you're scoring him based on his scores. Would be a big adjustment but more useful to try to make the judged scores more objective.

His best scores rd 1 were appearance and taste. Which i would push should be weighted more since basically he duplicated the experience of the dish, even if not the preparation.
