Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!

I did similar thing this past week. Was a nightmare. Replant of corn was needed. Tilled field twice for a “good” kill of first crop. Hired this out to expert neighbor since I am generally no till. Replanted immediately after their tillage. Came back later and their tillage killed 70% of original stand. Crap!!! Quickly sprayed gramoxone 2qt, 20 gpa, 2 gal uan, heavy nis and flat fans. Looks like excellent kill. Dinged emerging crop a little tho. Neighbor had terrible luck with gramoxone kill a week earlier so it is risky. I am worried for you but hope you have good luck with it. It was too wet when I planted and replanted so was rushing that due to impending rains but now of course seems like a drought.
Good Morning!
Congratulations. It seems the supreme Court does have their head on their shoulders. At this point. It's a total win over the EPA. I hope it continues. Big win for the farmers
Good Morning
Few years ago neighbor miss adjusted his planter to 50000. Too much ,, replanted 30000 with Chem resistant seed, sprayed to kill first plant didn't work!! Ended up chopping 80000 , a mess!!!
Where you not able to used the coverage maps fro the replant with the sprayer ?
Not often we see you in the sprayer 👍
Could you have made a prescription from the re-plant rate map to make life nice and easy with a 0 rate map for the gramoxone
I thought about doing that just didn't get to it.
Couldn't you have created a map with the planter while replanting and then used that in the sprayer to automatically turn the spray heads on where you replanted instead of eyeballing it?
A move move north east east and then we get it wet we drill and we pump
Good morning , how long before you can replant ?
The replant is done. We did it Monday before I sprayed
Why not use an aixr nozzle? Regular Flat fans drift alot
In the beginning I was thinking you need a haircut, and you got one.
Speaking of tanks how did your portable lp tank work out for you?
Plenty of moisture? Not for long if the long-range wx models are correct. Each new run seems to reinforce the last with a worrisome dry spot streatching from roughly Peoria to BVF.
Yeah thats true but as of right now there enough moisture to make the corn grow. But we are going to need rain soon and the 10 isn't promising.
Were you using auto path?
Not in the sprayer. Have to have a Gen 4 monitor and we don't in the sprayer
@@BorderViewFarms side dressing I meant.
Arrogated, irrigated corn corn 008 RX are eggs
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You previously mentioned that it is not desirable to have plants of differing maturity levels, but is this not exactly what you are going to have in the field you worked in this video? BTW,it is wired to see you killing live plants!!
Right but this is not an ideal situation either. The real problem is when they are right next to each other and the more mature plant out competes the smaller plants. In this case it's patches more so than comingled. That's why we sprayed the existing corn where I replanted.
A Becks brief that mentioned subtle anhydrous volatizing with shallow application, for what it's worth.

How did u get that gramoxone out of the safety jugs lol 🫣 I can only assume you had your opening device mounted on the lid of your inductor lol 😅
🤐 let's just say that "safety device" made it far more dangerous
