This is super cool. But, as a casual speed run fan, I don't really get what exactly is happening with the glitch. Would you be able to explain it? As near as I can tell from your inputs it just kinda ... happpens? (thanks in advance!)
@@respectfulremastersbymetal8336 The glitch occurs in an earlier version of the game: revision 2.0. In 2.0, you can do the first half of Sub-Zero's deep freeze fatality during the match. Simply do the input (FFD HK) within the same distance requirements as the fatality and it will come out. This has some extra properties though: 1. It's unblockable. Being a glitch, the AI just doesn't know how to deal with it. 2. You can cancel it into an attack or a block (ie a kara freeze). 3. If you cancel into an attack, you can hit your opponent as the freeze particles hit them and re-freeze them, essentially giving you a double hit off the same freeze. 4. You can modify the input of FFD HK to FF(D+F) HK to do a sliding freeze. This is incredibly good as you can close the distance (great for saving time) and get closer to cancel into a hit and re-freeze them.
@@DarkTenka awesome, thank you! Now what I'm seeing makes much more sense! I'm gonna go check out a few more of your runs. This game ate a lot of my quarters as a kid so seeing you demolish that cheating AI is a treat.
@@respectfulremastersbymetal8336 I appreciate that haha. You will find that Sub-Zero is kinda the "black sheep" of the mk2 speedruns. Sub-zero abuses a very broken glitch, whereas a lot of the other runs revolve solely around manipulating the AI. Sometimes in simple ways and sometimes in more complex ways. I recommend checking out the Liu Kang runs
Wait, what? How are you doing deep freeze during a match? Please tell me that wasn't always in the game.i played mk2 for years, winning multiple local tournaments, and you're telling me I didn't know you could use deep freeze during a match. Like how? I was doing corner juggles before people knew you could, and I didn't know deep freeze was a move. This is blowing my mind right now.
Hahaha, don't worry dude! You didn't really "miss something" .. unless you were specifically playing on revision 2.0 when it was live for a short period back in 1993-94. This is Revision 2.0, an earlier version of the game where the glitch existed. All you really have to do is just do the input during the match and it works. You can't do the 2nd half and actually fatality them, but the first half is powerful enough lol.
@DarkTenka I have, 1.2,1.8 and 2.0 . I know this because I know the owner of the arcade. I've seen him work on games and when you turn mk2 off and back on it tells you the version.
I tried it once, because as a moderator I wanted to investigate how someone could cheat using it. I couldn't figure it out. The macro I created would always de-sync when I pressed the button, like the hits would not align with the opponent. I gave up after an hour of trying or so. I'm sure theres a way to do it though
As for "seeing the best case" .. another runner already did a TAS of the run, and got a 6:34. According to him getting anywhere close to that would be impossible as the TAS manips RNG on the fly in a way that is humanly impossible, (pressing arbitrary buttons on certain frames). I still believe sub 7 may be possible though.
@@DarkTenka I started thinking TAS runs after I commented. Input lag was on the mind with that idea. Seems macro just added more lag & confusion, oddly enough! In my head it'd be like fwd + macro, down + macro, hp barrage. Hope I didn't come off as dismissive, my dude.
@@josho.9530 It's okay, I get this a lot in regards to macros. Using macros during a speedrun is cheating, so I completely avoid them in any way during my actual speedruns to prevent provoking suspicion or anxiety from other runners. I am also a moderator though, so I do occasionally brainstorm how someone might go about using them maliciously and if there is anything we can do to confirm using them as proof.
Another ice cold run fresh from the Tenka channel! Everyone needs to GET OVER HERE and watch this! Never Stop Watching!

Nice run, just realized u play right handed movement and left handed actions, I play like that too, I think it breaks the standarts...
Congrats.
How to perform the finisher freeze when not in fatality mode?
It's only in a specific version that it is possible to do 🙂
Parabéns Tenka

How do you slide forward while freezing?
@@lwague2 use arcade revision 2.0. Then press F, F, D+F (or diagonal down forward) then HK
