There can’t be many new cars or vans launched in the past 12 months that have been met with as much fanfare as the all-new Volkswagen ID. Buzz. It already has a cult following, despite the fact that first deliveries aren’t due until November. Now it’s time to decide if this really is the electric minivan that we’ve all been waiting for.
First things first, the price: this isn’t a cheap family car. Prices for the Life version start at £57,115, rising to £61,915 for the better-equipped Style on which our Euro-spec test model is based. So what do you get for your money? The ID. Buzz Life comes with 19-inch wheels, a 10-inch infotainment display with navigation, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a reversing camera, heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
Clever touches such as a USB slot in the passenger door, a hidden wireless phone charging pocket on the dash and the totally flat floor really make the ID. Buzz feel like a vehicle that has been designed with thought. You can even add a three-pin plug underneath the front passenger seat.
Our Nicola Hume spent a week with Volkswagen's much-anticipated people carrier, using it for everything from shopping runs to trips with the dogs, to find out if it's worth the considerable hype.

Another cracking review Nicola. A good point about the trim colour, the lighter upholstery will look pretty grim after a while with kids and or dogs or escaped cats. For the outlay to purchase the car it really should have the twisty doos for the climate controls, I hate the VW touch operation for like you. The interior apart from the colour is well designed though and the car looks a treat but it is a lot of money though. It's not an impulse purchase for me as I don't have the spare cash, I know I've already emptied the sofa and a few chairs to check. I've been watching Canoo and the ID Buzz for a while now. The Buzz is significantly larger and arguably makes better use of the interior space, but the Canoo will be a bit cheaper and available in the U.S. long before the ID Buzz ever makes it here, so they'll have a bit of a jump on the market. Still really excited for both of them, to be honest. And when you compare it to something like a Tesla Model 3/Y, which costs $60-70K to start, the price of the Canoo and/or ID Buzz is significantly better considering the increased practicality of the latter two.

I don’t think VW actually want to sell any of these 😁 For months reviewers such as yourself have being enjoying Buzzing around Europe and now the U.K. VW dealerships are now stocked with Buzzes. But has anyone who actually put down a priority deposit back in June actually had their delivery date confirmed? The rumour is that VW assumed not many people would go for the two-tone paint option when in fact nearly everyone did. It appears VW do not have the facilities to meet even 2022 demand with some U.K. dealers quoting second half 2023 delivery even for those who placed early orders. if the battery will add another 2000 pounds of weight, including the cooling and motors, converter(s) and all, what would the actual load limit be?
How many passengers and stuff can be added????
i understand eliminating the ICE and trans takes away weights, but overall...EVs DO add approx 300/400 more pounds minimum to vehicle load OVER the weight of the batteries.

Hyundai STARIA looks much more sophisticated and dignified for adults, VW's attempt just screams the first plan, its charm already faded after a few months from release.

@@jamiep61 Unfortunately, the Staria is unlikely to be sold here. Same with France.
But it is sold in Germany, and select European countries. It is also sold as RHD in South Africa and Australia.
