i've had a long standing beef about gay sex scenes and how universally awful they are. the Paris making love scene in Red White and Royal Blue was finally something believable of Henry being already in love with Alex and Alex falling hard. the little gasp as Alex entered Henry is the reality of anal sex -- something that people trained on gay porn don't realize. tops in particular need to respect their bottoms when they are first starting out and media rarely ever portrays that. the other thing that bugs me that RWRB got right in several scenes is the pure joy and playfulness of gay sex. it's not all just animalistic passion. sex is fun and funny too. it's ok for them to be silly while they are going at it too.
I am utterly obsessed with this film, I've read the book but it's nowhere near as good as the film. You summed up everything I felt about this film, Henry already liking Alex but treating him with contempt because of it, and Alex falling hard, yes I love that. I'm 53, never been in love and still a virgin so this film makes me yearn for a love like this. There are rumours of a sequel so I hope it lives up to the first.
What a fabulous job he did on RWRB. My hat is off to you. That love scene was off the charts without being raunchy at all. Easily my favorite love scene ever.
This guy is one of the main reasons why half of the world is still craz on #RWRB . He created a beautiful, pure, and cinematic queer love making scene that will live rent free in the hearts and minds of many for years. Those kisses, touches, glances of Alex and Henry made the movie so meaningful and endearing. Kudos to you Robbie Hunt.
Perez and Galitzine are wonderful in this film. Much has been said about their chemistry, which is palpable. But neither actor has shown as much heart or honesty in their other work. The difference is the sensitivity of the creative team. Director Matthew Lopez and cinematographer Stephen Goldblatt give them a glowing jewel box to inhabit. With the addition of the intimacy coordinator, Robbie Taylor Hunt, the intensity of the character's relationship materializes on screen. You sense that there was pride and love coming from all departments and that that provided a platform which allowed the two lead actors to become two lead characters that make us laugh and cry and love them. Cynics have attacked the film for not being what they want or think it should be, but that is short-sighted. The achievement of RW&RB is that it is completely what it sets out to be -- a smiling act of hope and love.
Absolutely fascinating look into a little known profession. "Chemistry" is a overused word, but in this movie, between Nick & Alex, they became the very definition. And seeing interviews with the two actors shows how well the team worked to create it. Kudos to the team, and especially Robbie.
The first intimate scene of RWRB was amazing. It was so tender, so real, and while I don't know how the actors felt about it, the acting gave me goosebumps. The touching implied so much love and affection and wonder... great work!
What a terrific interview! The work that Robbie did (in conjunction with Matthew) with Taylor and Nick in RWRB was SPECTACULAR. When Alex and Henry finally have penetrative sex in Paris (it really is MAKING LOVE), it honestly feels like you are intruding on an incredibly sensual and intimate moment between two people who have fallen deeply in love with each other, despite the fact that it was supposed to remain “casual”. The devouring kisses, Henry pressing on Alex’s back to initiate the actual penetration, the little noises as Henry accepts Alex inside him, everything was done so beautifully. A love scene for the ages! 🥰 GIVE THIS MAN ALL THE ACCOLADES!
Yes. It was amazing! I couldn’t agree more- their love scene was so romantic, so beautiful, so sensual and intimate…I found it to be extremely moving. 🥹♥️
How perfectly done the Paris scene! The tenderness, slow absorbing of all the details by each of them. Henry's slow tracing of fingers along Alex's torso -- you only get that "first time" once, best to move slowly, take it all in in a way that you'll remember when you replay it in your mind. Of course, the gentle pushing of fingers on Alex's back, the lip movement & gasps of pleasure & acknowledgment: Alex had to have been touched by Henry's unspoken "you're making me feel so absolutely wonderful right now" sounds. The slow & gentle gliding together & separating of their fingers. I couldn't have done it any better in my imagination. The two were well instructed by someone who knew what they were doing (thanks, RTH, for your attention to detail), and their great acting made this a pure delight to watch --- and rewatching often cuz it has all the feels! Just perfect!!
Bravo! to Robbie Taylor Hunt. The intimacy in RW and RB was profound and palpable, realistically intense yet playful and human, so very human. Little things like Henry touching Alex's back just as..... and the curling up into each other as the intesity increases is so very, very real. And yet the actors were so real too. The look on Alex's face when Henry kisses him for the first time is... is... just priceless. Thank you for making this movie THE BEST romantic movie to date.
Apparently I'm far from alone in such how profound this movie has affected me, to a depth I never knew I had. I've been binge-watching all the reaction videos that I can find, along with any scrap of info on the making of the movie, in between watching the actual movie, laughing and tearing up with emotion time after time. The nuances of physical communication like the way Henry will avert his eyes a bit and look down and then directly at Alex, or much more subtle things than just spoken words. Thank you for your interview of Mr. Hunt and a giant thanks directly to him for what he helped accomplish.
You're definitely NOT alone!!! I've been obsessing over this film, too! Re watching and watching video reactions like crazy 🤣. Gets me all the feels every single time 😻😻😻
Yes, you are definitely NOT alone here- the book, and now, the movie, has been affecting many of us in really profound ways. I agree, the nuances of communication between Alex and Henry, throughout the entire movie, really, are very impactful, and serve to show/ reinforce the incredible bond that exists between them. In these beautiful moments, as we notice onscreen, words are simply not necessary. Henry was very effective in doing this, but I feel that Alex was also very effective. In the film, they both use their physicality to great effect, to help them express their emotions. 🤍
I watch the film every day !! I just love it, and on days when I'm too tired, I start from the New Years Party, I did watch review films to begin with but it bugged me when they kept cutting the film to chat !! LOL It's too good a film to be continually be stopped like that. I also love looking up art and scene pics on Google.
I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Nick and Taylor is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before. ❤️ I have now seen it 31 times, I am not kidding! It just gets better and better!!! ❤❤❤ my new comfort movie
His job in this film was absolute PERFECTION. Those intimate scenes were SO SO tastefully and beautifully done! Swoony!!! We get ALL the feels from them. Congratulations, sir, you're incredible!!!! 😻😻😻😻
This is the magician behind one of the most beautiful love making scene I've ever seen on screen in my entire life! 😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Red White and Royal Blue's spicy scenes are so enjoyable thanks to this man (and of course thanks to the chemistry between Taylor and Nick and the great direction is Matthew Lopez! ❤️). I'm a huge fan of the book and the movie and I'm so happy they hired Robbie to make everything more respectful and comfortable for the actors and beautiful for our eyes! 🥰 Thanks so much for do this interview with him! ✨🙏🏻
Robbie Taylor Hunt just gave a master class on this career field and it was SOOOO informative and so interesting! I dont know if your youtube channel's videos are always so high in quality in terms of your guests and your questions (and their responses) but I was seriously impressed with this interview. I really appreciate the time the 3 of you put into this for us.
@@biggayenergypodthis whole interview does such an amazing job of raising awareness of the subject of intimacy coordination; in particular RWARB RTH's contributions are precisely what make the intimacy scenes so believable ❤
Thank you for this interview with Robbie Taylor Hunt. It helped me understand what it means when the film credits list Intimacy Coordinator as one of the many professionals behind the scenes. The payoff comes when the love scenes succeed as well as they did in "Red, White, and Royal Blue".
What a fascinating and interesting interview with RTH! Wow, he is clearly very knowledgeable and talented in his field of work. I know he was very helpful on RWRB so much, working well with Taylor and Nicholas, and Matthew. All together, they really created some of the most beautiful, deeply intimate, and meaningful moments onscreen that I have ever seen! Add that to the incredible, natural, ( highly combustible) chemistry witnessed onscreen between Taylor and Nicholas, and it is not surprising that the love scenes in RWRB were so intense and truly memorable. Thank you, RTH! 😊
Besides the obvious intense scenes, I'm curious how much he helped the very intimate but not sexual moments - like when one character looks at another and they are trying to bring out the real emotional aspect of just a glance, etc.
I learnt a lot from this interview. I enjoyed the questions the interviewers asked. Grear work Taylor. Red, White and Royal Blue intimacy scene was great
A really great and very interesting video. I adore the RWRB Paris sex scene in particular so much (all the intimate scenes seem so well acted and thought out by all (i.e. seeing 2 condom wrappers opened the morning after, looking such like a realistic scene) I thought about the Paris sex scene too much tbh 😂 how I did assume Henry would be more experienced and would be a top and how he gave a realistic gasp when Alex entered him and how lovely it was that Henry had agreed with Alex, that Alex coukd be the top even though Alex was maybe his first time having gay sex. But anyway all very well done ❤
The question I would ask is: do female actors sometimes resent his direction because he does not know what it is like to be female? Also I'd like to say that the "missionary position" sex scene was perfectly done. I would like to know what went into the choreography but that would be like "the-making-of" videos that ultimately diminish the audience appreciation. I would like also to know if when Robbie watches some old movies, whether he senses some scenes where an intimacy coordinator, which did not exist at the time, would have been useful. I particularly think of the scene between Scarlet and Rhett Butler wherein he holds her tight and tries to kiss her (after fleeing Atlanta). Clark Gable was known to have smoker's breath, and even though Scarlet is being feisty, one can't help but wonder if she isn't also repelled by his breath.
i love constructive content like this i can learn from. duty of care to talent/people and trust comes before the production, in my industry experience and core values. thank you. great Q&A
Hi , l just wanted to ask are there any scenes showing how it is done, like kiss scenes, close body contact. It would be great I C & actors working together ?
"How did you train to be an Intimacy Coordinator?" Immediately in my head 🤔 "Sex, lots & lots of sex!!" while dreamingly staring at my TV screen/Robbie's face" 😂😂😂😚🤤

I agree! I've never seen a love scene so real and loving. It was certainly not raunchy.
Most particularly, coordinating an extremely beautiful gay love scene using two straight actors, it was excellent work.
