  • Freezing or stopping motion is such a large part of photography that many new photographers completely forget that motion doesn’t always need to be frozen. Using a long exposure allows you to creatively show just how fast - or slow something is moving. In this video, I’ll cover what it takes to capture long-exposure photos and a few potential challenges faced along the way.

    One of the best photography “how-to” videos for long exposures!
    I particularly liked the examples that I’d never have thought of (like using a drone and for wildlife portraits). Time for some experiments.

    Awesome that almost every shot has the "specs" of the shot. Kinda a peak behind the magic. Wonderful!!

    Love this. Caught me at the right time because I am recently retired and diving back into photography to help me rediscover the right side of my brain. Also, just in the last few weeks I've been experimenting with long exposures. It doesn't hurt that you are using the exact same equipment (body and lenses) that I use. So the menu system references in the video are VERY familiar to me. Thanks for this great video. I only wish I could somehow find a way to make work like this a bit more financially rewarding for the creators. Sub'd, liked, and commented. 🙂

    Your production quality is insane and I love the way you teach. Why don't you make more videos?

    • @neilfisher
      @neilfisher  Рік тому +2

      Appreciate the feedback @tommygaming590 😃😃😃 As for your questions... the answer is painfully clear with this video's performance. In the few weeks since being published, it's only garnered roughly 600 views. Sadly, UA-cam's algorithm doesn't make the production of these in-depth long-format videos worthwhile anymore.

    • @tommygaming590
      @tommygaming590 Рік тому

      @@neilfisher I agree. UA-cam's algorithm is weird. But keep on making these kinds of videos. Good luck mate!

      @@neilfisher I definitely understand your concerns about the algorithm. These days, producing good quality ANYTHING seems to require it to be a labor of love. Though, except for rom-coms, love doesn't pay the bills. Perhaps this is why so many creators have turned to creating paid-for training videos. Hopefully, this video will evolve into great "evergreen" content for you, and gather more views over time.

    That exposure pie chart is a genius way to illustrate the give and take of the the settings. You might want to color code the labels too. I lost track when the chart went all pink. Illustrating how a ND filter "takes away" some of the light was also genius. But I felt it needed more explanation.

    • @neilfisher
      @neilfisher  Рік тому +1

      Many thanks @GrantSR 😃 Totally agree that I could have used further explanation, but I didn't want to spend too much time focused on just this one piece. It would have been easy to create a 20 minute video solely detailing balancing the exposure triangle... but that didn't feel overly engaging 😂😂😂
