This doesn't surprise me. Wizards of the Coast under Hasbro is bereft of creativity. It reeks of corporate executives meddling with the designers' vision.
I got this at a bargain store for $4 but haven't played it. Happy to find a video on how to play it.
I wish there was soke zoom in on the different part of the board and objects. I'm watching on a smaller screen from a distance and I can't see any of the smaller details of things. I would love to see the cards and objects up close.
Having used this game both in a Dragonlance campaign and just playing with friends, I'd say it's among my favorite cooperatives (and I have quite a few cooperatives). Notably, I never played the "Training Grounds" scenario they play here. I read the rules and went directly to the actual scenarios, all of which combine story stakes for your characters to accomplish while your army inevitably gets worn down. We all had a blast.
Warriors of Krynn was terribly overpriced at launch, but that's no longer an issue. It takes a while to set up and could have imported characters from a D&D campaign in a more flavorful way, but the latter problem is easily addressed by anyone creative enough to DM to begin with. When it comes to the actual mechanics, I politely disagree with the reviewers: the larger-scale battle sets up an effective and tense pressure against your character objectives. If WotC hadn't skimped on components and given the rules just a little more playtest and polish, this game could've been a hit.
Yeah honestly this game is great. It was just poorly marketed. A lot of folks are missing out; even this review…like the overview is delivered so flatly and procedurally that it totally misses the story the game delivers.
Seriously the way this game is presented here would make Pandemic or Gloomhaven or Wingspan look terrible. “And then you do this and then you do this and then you do that…”
Yes, based on D&D, but more importantly the Dragonlance books, where the first 2 trilogies are awesome for me... got me into fantasy books.
(Whether or not the game succeeds at doing it is another thing... but you are remiss in saying it's based on D&D... )
I got it, as it's part of the D&D 5e Dragonlance: Shadow of the dragon queen Campaign, and the players are supposed to do the big battle whit the board game. 🤔

I love playing RPG’s and I have several different types that I love reading about, I will literally spend days reading rules about different systems.
When it comes to a board game I give it 5 minutes tops for rules. Why is that? Because if I mess up a board games rules it will be completely broken. If I mess up a TTRPG’s rules the worst I get is some frustrated players…maybe…and I say “maybe”because flexing the rules in a TTRPG can actually make it better.
In other words, this game isn’t for me.
This is already in bargain bins. My mom grabbed it as a gift for me out of said bargain bin. Not a good sign when its that new already under $20

I clicked on this because i originally thought this was a dungeon crawl... it sounds more like the old PC game "war craft 2". However it's not quite that either.

Why is the box so big? On the table it certainly doesn't look like it needs to be that big.
You are playing the Battle Phase wrong. Only the side with the highest Combat Strength attacks each round. There's no counterattack by the weakest side.
What's amazing to me is that Stephen Baker & Rob Daviau designed this. I dont understand how those two innovative designers came up with this sub par, average, pedestrian, uninteresting game. My theory is that studio/IP people had their hands in this, mucking it up or Rob & Stephen just had to pump something out. :( There is a reason this game was on the discount shelves.

This game looks horrible. Doesn't seem to have much to do with dragonlance. That's a great property and deserves a better treatment. Hasbro just really isn't even trying anymore. Thank goodness there are other game companies.

I have a friend that was going to buy this at PAXU. He asked my opinion. I told him he knows how huge a Dragonlance fan I am, and I don't own it. He wisely put it back.
Saw this for $10, and even at that price, seeing the picture on the back, it looked absolutely dreadful. Glad i saved my money and bought towels instead

I am going to watch this but I will say right now that I quit 5th edition and hate it. I picked up some reprint copies of the 2nd edition books and it's a night and day difference. Harder, more unique, more raw and barbaric. It is how D&D was meant to be, not what it became - which is a mockery of the original works.
Shame really what WotC has done to completely butcher both MTG and D&D. When 3rd party sites are selling fan made and homebrew content far superior than your official releases, you know yove done screwed up
Dragonlance is my absolute favorite IP... and I have zero interest in this. Wizards completely failed the Dragonlance community with their lineup of products for it. So disappointing.
