Many moons ago as a youngster 63 now, I used to help me Dad scrapping TV,s and stuff. With copper cables we used to just burn it in our fire to get rid of all the insulation. Came in handy for keeping warm in winter..
Good luck and happy scrapping. 👍👍

Vandal when striping the grey wire I use to get the live poking out and then get pliers on it and pull it down the cable so I didn’t need to cut the outer casing of the grey wire might save some time instead of cutting it down the middle with stanly. I use to strip all wire 🤦‍♂️ in the end I made a wooden device I put in a vice with a blade at an angle and different size of holes so I could feed the wire through and then pull it and the blade would strip the plastic off and I’d be left holding copper cable. Couple of wires I didn’t know about was the tv and sky wires I’ll be damn 😱🤦‍♂️. Great walk through, hope the van gets back on the road sooner rather then later missing the “let’s get weighed and paid” saying. ☹️👍!

that is the easiest way. 1 would put one end in a vice or tie it off too a hook. It was fab if you had a good long bit. The longest bit i had was almost 40 foot long. That was a good day scrapping! You dont get it like you did though.

Many MANY years ago in the 80's i worked a rotating night shift 12 hours days followed by 12 hour nights. I spent lots of my spare night shift hours going through the scrap bins. I could easily collect copper cable in long lenghts (30 or 40 feet) from where the engineers were stripping out. I would tie one end to the door handle of the boiler house and run a sharp knife along the outer case. Some nights i could easily collect 30 kilo bright copper. Plus i collected all the SS pipe offcuts. Paid for doing it and i got the scrap££

That terminal on the jump lead I get a angle grinder and cut a line down the sides of where its crimped to the wire it doesn't have to be all the way through then it bends easy with pliers to free the wire. 💯💯💯👍👍😎😎👊👊

Good video mate. I notice that some scrap yards pay a fixed price for wire, like the 40 or 60 % they do not differentiate but a pay a certain price for VIR cable or summit like that I forget now. But if space is short its still worth turning 40% into 60% as its easy to strip, you get more in a sack and more cash each scrap run.

i metal detect and find brass copper bronze and lead but all have verdigre green black white no plastic some may date back to the romans and very early bronze age so will the scrap yard take it i have filed into it and sorted them all . they look like crap but when they are filed the metal is quality also i believe the roman lead can be quite valuable because it is not like modern lead it can be used for the machines in hospitals your body slides into radiation and all bronze copper and brass seem to be better than what you get today the question is will we get laughed at weighing it in any idea . love the vid good luck and happy hunting GH&HH
