But that's the backbone of the Republican position: no regulations, profit over reliability and safety. Of course they put a veneer of fake religion over top of that then claim the other party is trying to take away their guns, and people believe them. Again and again and again. Oh America... time to think deeper than what kind of gun you like best.
Remember, you can also vote against Abbot. His entire party has de-regulated and made the grid the weakest in the nation. Texas has been left vulnerable in the in pursuit of donor money and corporate profits. Texas leadership wasn't even in the state for the disaster as they were off seaking foreign investors and further corporate profits. Texas is in a zone frequented by high heat, big storms, and low temps. Common sense would dictate the grid should have regulations and adequate safety codes to prepare it for such frequent events or the cascading failures caused by them. The grid still hasn't been fixed following the freeze either. Any repairs for the failure have come directly from consumers' wallets via increased pricing so the companies don't have to dip into profits. This was done despite Abbot initially saying they would be on the hook for upgrades and repair befor he took a generous 50,000$ donation from the energy sector who then put it all back onto the consumer while having record profits for the year . Also, before you say Abbot has been good for the border, how long has it been out of control under his command with failure to have any meaningful impact to reduce illegal immigration or let the applicants who have rightfully and legaly applied they way they are suposed to have their cases heard so its not backed up for years incentivising further illegal crossings? Just some food for, though.

When you are in the food business in an area where we tend to have hurricanes why don't these businesses have generators? Did the reports ask? Do they cost more to install and maintain than they would lose during an outage?
Yep. I get that some people can't afford generators and fuel and whatnot, but businesses absolutely should be able to put back a little money and invest in a backup power solution that can enable that business to continue despite the outage. In the case of the restaurant in the video, it appears they cook using gas grills, so their power needs are mostly refrigeration and lights.
God 1st always. I feel for everyone here in Texas for the hardship that y’all are going through. I wish that I had a lot of Money to help out the businesses and some families, I really mean what I say from my heart.🙏🏽♥️🙏🏽♥️🙏🏽♥️
In Texas, you always get the special perks if you're a business and not a citizen. That's why the grid is trash and deregulated. It was all done for company profits and sweet, sweet donor cash. The businesses have a better chance than the citizens at clawing a dime back if they feel wronged.
Why? You made a worthless comment with no explanation. We have hurricanes, which cause power outages from damaged lines. There’s nothing funny about that. Maybe it’s all these California rejects that are whining about the power being out. Get over it, get your own power, take care of your needs. Be responsible.
You didn’t heed any of the warnings? You didn’t listen to any of the people telling you not to go? I know Texans were not welcoming you and were warning you throughout the move.😂😂😂
If businesses can sue Centerpoint for loss of assets (i.e. perishable food), then why can’t citizens???
So get a lawyer and sue.
Make a claim. They can pay or not. Then you can decide on legal course
DEREGULATION HAS CONSEQUENCES
Imagine if transportation corporations were able to have all the speed limit signs removed because it was hurtful for business...

LOL!!! You don't even know what deregulated means nor can you ever provide an example. It's just a fancy word you use.

30 years ago they could've started installing underground cable. Didn't somebody lay the Atlantic Cable to England in the 1920s?

Why not ERCOT
So they’re going to file a lawsuit and other customers are going to have to pay with higher rates
Gee, don't y'all have small business insurance?
I like that place
ERCOT
Reminds me of Iraq in 2004 😢
I don't like restaurants that look like warehouses. They scream "we don't care about you, just give us money".

You handing out money isn't going to fix the weak power grid or corporate greed.
The green energy push coupled with corporate greed will see similar future events and continually rising utility costs to the consumer.
Buy a generator

Yup... so many people are crying over power outages. It's hilarious.
This is why gas, oil and propane are king. Get yourself some generators instead of losing alllll that money.
