I’m happy to hear that someone like Ed Burr is going to buy Treasure. Treasure deserves to be up graded if not only for the Bahamian people living there. My wife and I have been coming to Treasure since 1978 and know what was like then, which was wonderful. As far as memberships go I’m not a fan of that and think that a membership would only be needed for special amenities like work out rooms and maybe a club house. Speaking as a renter, there will be restaurants to go to and beaches to walk on.
Thanks for the update Nick. While I am glad that Treasure Cay is going to be fixed up I am sad that it sound like this place will really only be for people who live there. We used to come for a week or two every year and stay at BBC. It sounds like we wouldn’t be able to use anything unless we pay a huge fee. It definitely won’t be the same😔.
I do not necessarily think that is true. Again, I want to reiterate that this is just a rumor that I have heard. While I do not think a club like scenario is out of the question, I can not see TC and Ed turning their back on the tourists and renters that frequent Treasure. They are a giant part of the TC economy.
Nick, I really appreciate the updates you've been doing. My family visited Treasure often from 1992-1998 when I was younger. I made a few plans to bring my family there to introduce them to what I consider the most beautiful place on earth but they always fell through. Well, life and mother nature have finally cooperated and we'll be down there from the 13th - 19th. I'm sure it will be a little bitter sweet seeing some empty lots and spaces, but I'm sure it will be as beautiful as ever.
Good morning. I was in Treasure Cay 2 weeks after Hurricane Dorian. We were staying next door at the bar. Name unknown. Saw tour video on the progress. I have photos I could send you, Also stayed at a medical station where a caterpillar engine was pumping water. Looks like much hasn’t changed in five years All signs were down so I’m not sure of locations. Let me know what’s happening. Thank you JACK.
So glad to have come across your channel. I am a Catastrophe Adjuster from Toronto Canada who worked Bahamas and specifically Treasure Key for a Bahamian Adjusting firm and love the people and the islands. Hope to own property in the Bahamas someday. Wish u all the best.
Thanks for the update Nick, glad to hear there is some progress in Treasure, will be a big boost to the area and Abaco as a whole. Happy to be a property owner in Abaco and excited to start bring some of our FUTURA Modular products to the island for temporary storage, construction offices and other small structures #abaco #bahamas #progress
Hi, my wife and I love that area and the islands around. We travel them very frequently. Just got back from them and did the Cay at Green Turtle with the Stingrays and Turtles. Awesome Awesome Awesome. N we are moving to your neck of the woods here in a couple months.
good video. I am planning a trip to the Bahamas, not on my boat, but i want to rent a house with a small boat to move around for day trips (no fishing). Which island do you recommend, Exuma or Abaco?
I personally would choose somewhere in The Abacos for that trip. The Abacos has so much to do and it sounds like you want to do some island hopping. The Abacos has dozens of bars and restaurants to hop to. You can feed sea turtles, stingrays, and sharks. You can feed the pigs. You can find amazing inshore fishing and also offshore. For a trip where you are looking to really be active The Abacos can not be beat. If you want a little more low key trip where you just want to sit around all day and relax and really not see many people then something like Staniel Cay, Spanish Wells, or Great Harbous could also be great choices. Those places just dont have the amount to do surrounding them. The Abacos truly is like a community.
Thank you for the updates.... Love the videos. Can you do a video on the new airport in TC curently being built? That would be great to here from the owner. I fly into TC a good bit. We have a home in TC...
I appreciate the kind words. I don’t know much about that airport other than apparently it is fully private funded. Next time I am there (later this week) I am going to do some digging and try to figure out what is going on there.
I am not sure what you mean by this? All of my information comes from very reliable sources very close to the situation. I don’t claim to be friends with Ed personally or anything and am very clear about the fact that this information is just what I am hearing and that some of it is nothing but rumor. Pretty much all of Ed and I’d mutual friends really like Ed and believe that he is the right man for the job. If you know anything that I don’t then I really encourage you to speak up and let the world know to help make this a proper transparent community.
Yes, development over here way more often than not fails... but it does also succeed sometimes when the situation and project is right and this looks like one of those times. The government desperately wants to see TC rebuilt. Behind Nassau, it is the largest second homeowner community in the entire Bahamas and so has the potential to bring a lot of business and money to The Abacos and The Bahamas. It was once the center of activity in The Abacos and the government wants it to return. Also, while this is a big project it is nowhere near the size and scale of many of the failed developments over. The actual homeowner side of the island is already rebuilt and thriving. All that really needs to be done to get it off the ground is to rebuild the marina, build a marina bar and restaurant, build a beach bar and restaurant, and then build either a small hotel or condo complex on either the Coco Bar property or where they used to be on the marina. Again, yes it is a large project, but it pales in comparison to a lot of the failed developments over here that are starting from scratch, like Reunion.
It is great news and it’s true it’s not feasible to recreate a replica of Treasure. I am so happy that Treasure is moving forward, it needs it so badly. But, the membership fee would destroy the soul of Treasure. What local is going to pay 5k a year? Let’s only allow the wealthy Bahamians to visit is the new attitude? It’s going to suck when lots of my friends who grew up in Treasure wont be welcome. Hope it wont be like Jamaica where they can’t even swim on the beach without paying 5k? It will be a sad day for Abaco if that is implemented. The only positive for them will be the jobs created. Think something like this would cause us to move on. We come to the Bahamas to be part of the community that we grew up with and not a bunch of wealthy American tourists. The last thing i want to be is part of the tourists that come to foreign countries and claim the spot for themselves. We will just have to wait and see if Bill Burr really cares about the community as he says he does. Or maybe we have different definitions of the Treasure cay community.
Thanks for the update. Glad to see Treasure getting some love again
Absolutely!

Good to be informed, continue to keep us updated. Thanks
Headed to stay on Green Turtle Cay soon. Is it worth a boat ride over to Treasure Cay while there? Does most establishments take the US dollar?
Thanks for your info
I am hoping to find the next one

Is Ed Burr going to keep and restore the golf course?
I am told yes
Found update !
Good change
Yes
You might need to do more research on the buyer.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Bahamas is a developers grave yard.

Hi Nick $1k probably ok (depending on what’s “included”) 5k I won’t join. Very excited about progress and love your videos! Thank you!!!
I hope it is not too expensive! and of course!
Awesome.

I’ll probably join for 1k but not 5
We will see what any membership aspect of the island will end up costing.
