    I think that advocates for stricter speech laws assume that stringent rules won't be applied to their speech. The euphemism treadmill almost guarantees innocuous speech today will be offensive tomorrow.

      It's not just speech, it's all of our rights that this is happening to. "Well I agree with this so it's ok, they won't take away what I want" but once the government is given power it always seems more.

    For the individual, freedom of speech revolves around tolerance.
    Here's an example of tolerance: I had an uncle wounded at D-day: I still thought Count Dankula's Pug was funny as hell.

    I understand and agree with the punishment of hate crimes but am less clear on the criminilaztion of hate speech. Recently saw a clip of Seattle Police Chief urging citizens to call 911 to report hate speech. To be clear, I find it personally reprehensible, but is name calling now a crime?

    with our current times why didn't you mention anything about the freedom to assemble since our assembly freedoms have been banned at this time with a virus going around?

    • @generalsecrecy7917
      @generalsecrecy7917 3 роки тому

      George Floyd protests demonstrate that even if you were banned from assembly, the gov't is doing a shit job at enforcement. And no, you can still assemble-6 ft is a CDC reccommendation, not a legal requirement. And there isn't a reason you can't be 6 ft apart or wear a mask while at a protest

    • @RedRyan

      The reason I'm asking this question is because we have been prevented from going to church which I believe is a form of assembly isn't it?

      Because the stated purpose of the second amendment, to guarantee the safety of a free state (against tyranny), requires civilians to be armed similarly to the government, else revolt is futile.
