Dude shutting down arkane austin is a huge blow. Idk wtf xbox was thinking. They made a game outside if their usual style and it went poorly, but just imagine a prey 2 or something. Prey 2017 was one of my favorite games of all time. It was SO well made. And arkane had potential. They very well couldve given it a 180 success story. Iirc xbox/philo spencer even said that they were going yo stick with it. Not only did they not do that, but they killed off a very talented studio, which is an absolute shame when microsoft has more than enough money to let them continue. Ive been a xbox supporter over the last several years between gamepass, and them getting bethesda, inxile, and other obsidian. It just blows my mind that they would buy bethesda and shut down both arkane austin and tango gameworks?! Like dude they both have well loved and high quality games under their belt. This alone really shook up my faith in xbox in a way i wasnt expecting. Maybe its a shame on me situation for believing all the great industry/developers first talk Phil Spencer did but it seriously felt like xbox really was genuine about treating studios and fans well, and now all that good faith they earned over the last few years is absolutely gone. I hope they dont kill off obsdian, bethesda, or inxile. If those end up gone ill never purchase another xbox product ever again. No consoles, no gamepass, and no software on their ecosystem.
I enjoyed Redfall for what it was, but could not finish it. It’s shortcomings became to apparent during the second main story. You could tell the developers were forced to add filler just for the sake of making the game longer.
I enjoyed Redfall for a time, and am sad to see the studio behind it shut down. The progress to making it a better game has been good, and I'm looking forward to checking out this last update. It wasn't the best vampire game ever, but it was all right. Not as horrible as many people would have us believe.
I only support offline single player games, had they had sp offline mode with bots at launch I would have bought it as I like the concept and personally my favorite games are ones that get 6/10. Warhammer martry is now fullly offline single player with the lates update and its amazing had to wait years but got it.
The psychic character might as well be considered to not have abilities. One is a jump pad while the other is a shield. Her ultimate summons a melee fighter for a brief moment. It is a far cry from the stealth sniper and his ghost rifle ultimate which provides 8 rounds of aimbot sniping.
I heard Ken Levine is interested in hiring whoever was recently laid off from Arkane Austin, hopefully the ones talented at immersive sims can bring their know-how to Judas.
The studio had a good pedigree and the failure of red fall looked mostly like rushed production (probably from pressure to hit a release date by the publisher), so I think the devs will land just fine
Although I wish more of its potential was realized. I'm happy with them leaving redfall in this state. Microsoft won't allocate anymore resources to a product without a return on investment. And unfortunately this game just doesn't have enough profit potential left to warrant it. All the sales this game would have had have already been made and I'm sure we don't want a microtransaction model added, especially for a game that has a fringe player base already. It's really sad the journey this game went down but at least it's able to die with some semblance of dignity.
Shame the offline mode won't have coop. The game had potential but was unnecessarily grindy. Even basic modding support could have made a big difference.
Can't see myself ever playing this now. Would've played it in coop for a low price but with the servers shutting down this is not gonna happen. Or did they implement a p2p "offline" mode?
I appreciate your follow up on this game, since almost no one talks about it anymore. What really comes through is the massive unrealized potential that was squandered by Bethesda. It sounds like Arkane had a tough task, and there's a lot that I do like about the game, despite the frustrations. It's a tragedy. I hope that someone picks up the idea to make the game that could have been.
I just think it's bullshit to pull the bite back edition.. they promised 2 new characters.. they should just hired another team or waited till promises where met before closing the studio.. anyway, im pissed that we (the ones who did not buy the bite back edition) cannot buy the OTHER stuff that came with the bite back upgrade.. The weapon skins, weapon and character skins.. at least sell these as a mini DLC for like 3 to 5 bucks.. I actually like Redfall for what it is (if you didn't pay the FULL price.).. They need to sell all the dlc.. both preorder AND bite back upgrade (without the 2 new characters duh)... Really bummed that those dlc is ripped away from me without the option to buy it or get it for free for staying and playing
I'll have fond memories of Arkane Austin, Prey will always be one of my favorite games.

Well would you look at that, adding an offline mode IS in fact possible to these games after launch. many publsihers just refuse to then.
Man, I'd love to hear your take on Vampire Survivors! Simple, old style and good achievements!
Morning mortim
Do You have the option to not to have abilities like in Dishonored 2?
The psychic character might as well be considered to not have abilities. One is a jump pad while the other is a shield. Her ultimate summons a melee fighter for a brief moment. It is a far cry from the stealth sniper and his ghost rifle ultimate which provides 8 rounds of aimbot sniping.
Thanks!
Gronk!
Do you recommend playing it today?
If you can get it for cheap its a decent experience yeah
@@MortismalGaming thanks bro
I heard Ken Levine is interested in hiring whoever was recently laid off from Arkane Austin, hopefully the ones talented at immersive sims can bring their know-how to Judas.
The studio had a good pedigree and the failure of red fall looked mostly like rushed production (probably from pressure to hit a release date by the publisher), so I think the devs will land just fine
Well, I thought I'd give it a try since it's on game pass. We'll see what all the fuss is about I guess.
This game needs to be 4.99
The game has been pretty cheap on key seller siites outside of steam for quite some time.
Damn, this game had its whole lifespan before I got around to trying it even once. Oh, well.
Can anybody tell me if the ai of the enemies ever got smarter or are they still kinda stupid?
They made improvements since launch, individual experiences will differ though of course
@MortismalGaming thank you my friend.
So can we not play co-op anymore online?
You can for now at least
@@MortismalGaming Thanks for replying :)
Definitely not as bad as people claim it is.
I completely forgot this game existed ._.
Poor redfall :(
it just needs more updates
Price is the biggest problem for me. Id actually buy this for €20 or (ideally) less
Shame they couldn't get a deal like Toys for Bob.
Such a shame.
Redfall had quite the interesting premise. But Live Service broke it's back long before it was even finished.
"wake up babe, new Mortismal video"
FYI: The game is now 20 bucks on XBOX.
I think I'd pay 10 for it at some point. Would of paid 100 for prey 2 though 😢
Prey was a brilliant game that was a mistake on microsofts part
Didn't pay close attention and "Stealth kills with steaks" threw me.
Farewell Redfall, you deserved so much more, I will miss you forever and I will never forgive the gaming public. Rest well.
😭
garbage game got what it deserved
