Wow... Thanks for taking us on a marvelous adventure ! The Lac Blanc evening experience was stunning even on my screen so I can only imagine how it must have been in reality. As a landscape photographer I'd have gone emotional as well probably ;-) Hopefully next time I'm in Chamonix I can make it up there (last year didn't work out for several reasons). Loved the filming, atmosphere, chats and thoughts... Keep up the nice work! ☺
Victoria! You are a fantastic UA-camr. The actual videos you make are really fantastic and all the different beautiful locations you present the information. You're enthusiasm is off of the charts! You our photography is fantastic. And apparently, one subtle thing in your videos that I absolutely love, you have very good taste in music!
Happy memories, indeed. Thankfully the feeling of thinking my lungs would explode doing that walk, have now faded from my memory. I probably huffed and puffed like a pig walking up that track.
Thank you for sharing those magnificent images. We can see my house from the Mont Blanc. I used to live near Chamonix, on the other side of the border, 10 years ago. I would have gotten you a job maybe 😉.
Thank you very much for watching! And nooooo this breaks my heart! I would love to move their and get a job - I literally would tomorrow 😭 you lived in such a wonderful area. What an amazing place to experience 🏔️
Victoria your images are wonderful, what I really like about your photos you include beautiful skies, quite a lot of UA-cam photographers avoid skies (for many reasons). You also make use of daytime light not just the blue and golden hours.
This is so kind, thank you so much 😊 and yes, I also of people are afraid of blue skies but I love them! Thank you! All times of day are magical in their own way 🙃🙃
Just wanted to pass on a VERY merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Your videos are awesome. Love the images. Take care and all the best in 2024. 📸😎✌🏻🎄
Amazing, simply breathtaking. Honestly, we've been spoiled. Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Now I want to go there too. 😅 You've shared so many highlights. And it's lovely to know how much this trip has meant to you. ☺ And Erik was such a good boy too!
Thank you for watching the whole adventure! It is always a pleasure to read your comments! Hehe you must go, it is very lovely! And if you go off season (out of high summer and ski season it is pretty reasonable in price). Thank you for saying this, yes it really did mean so much and has changed a lot in my life which is lovely. And Erik is the best adventure pal ever ☺️
Absolutely fantastic Victoria. I have loved your Chamonix trip. The photos of Lac Blanc are stunning and the best I have ever seen. I am so pleased you got back down ok and had a life changing trip. Well done and thank you for great memories. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 👍🌲🌲
Thank you so much! It was fantastic and I really miss it there! I am so glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching them all. All the best for 2024 🙃🙃
Just been transported to Chamonix, thank you Victoria. Another great video and stunning shots. Don’t be sad you had to leave another wild and free adventure awaits. You, Eric and those you love have a great Christmas and may I wish you a happy, healthy and amazing 2024. Best wishes. Terry
Thank you for watching and leaving a lovely comment. I glad you felt transported to Chamonix! You are very right, I suppose being sad is a good sign as it meant so much but at the same time you a right in that there is always something else around the corner. Thank you and have yourself a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2024 🙂🙂
There is always a lot of effort behind your videos and it's not just the way you have to walk for your pictures. It's sad that it was the last part of Chamonix.
I've heard you mention that you have the XH2 and the XH2S. Being a novice can you tell me the difference. I have the XH2S, I took on Safari with me. I'm curious about the difference. I was looking at a second camera body and was considering the XT5 but now I'm wondering if I should go with the XH2. Advice appreciated. Love your videos they make me so happy and I want to travel the world.
Thank you for your kind words and comment. Yes I can briefly explain, so the XH2s (in my opinion) is mainly for me my filming camera but also capable for very fast and detailed photography, I love it and it’s a great camera. The XH2 with it’s amazing sensor is a wonderful photography camera with filming capabilities (but not to the level of the XH2s). The reason why I chose the XH2 over the XT5 was because I wanted to cameras I can use side by side that were basically the same in terms of the build - the bodies and functions on the XH2 and XH2s are exactly the same just different sensors. The sensor in the XH2 is the exactly same sensor in the XT5, so it would just be down to preference for yourself and costings - if you need two cameras the same or not. I also picked the XH2 over the XT5 as I love the fully articulated LCD screen which has been great for vlogging and self portrait work. I hope that helps 🙂🙂
Beautiful as ever. However - you seem to be experiencing some of the same bugbears as me on my X-T5 and have also seen it on an X-H2 I hired. It is video judder while panning. I am not totally sure - but this seems to be way more pronounced when using the 4K HQ or 6K modes. It almost disappears in 4K 60 and is no where near as pronounced in standard 4K 30. Hence - I won't touch 4K HQ or 6K using the 40MP sensor - it is only worth using with static shots. I actually think image stabilisation also gets involved somehow - so I switch DIS off for a start. And weirdly, I also find the issue is made worse if I use a lens with OIS on it - as I think OIS fights with IBIS. But unfortunately you are "all in" or "all out" - you can't disable OIS on the lens without also disabling IBIS. I believe you can change the OIS mode on the 100-400 lens so you can disable it for lateral movements. I would be interested in your thoughts on this actually - as it is really bugging me!!
Thank you! And yes I do get what you mean. I did shoot the panning shots in 60fps and slowed some of them down so I think it probably amplify the panning issue more but I did notice that as well. Ideally I should just use a gimbal but I don’t have one and also can’t carry it up mountains. I would also normally shoot in slow motion (so 5 times slower) which gets rid of this issue (but I don’t always want to have to shoot in slow motion). So yes it is a bit of a pickle, it could be a stabilisation thing, i’ll have to test it with my 23mm (the new one) and see if I get the same issue. I’ll be doing a review of the XH2 soon so it will be a good test for it! For me my go to filming camera is still my XH2s, I just prefer completely for filming it is a powerhorse. And in situations where I use the XH2 it is great but when using a tripod or gimbal. I do a lot of handheld work with the XH2s and the juddering isn’t an issue. I think the XH2 is fantastic for photography and tripod/gimbal work (and static) filming but not the best overall filming camera and this will be a similar result for the X-T5. You can film on both but not to the standard of the XH2s. I hope that helps!
@@wildandfreevictoria Ah ok - yeah, I think I see. So if you slow 60 fps down to 30 fps, you are back to judder as if you took at 30 fps!! I have not tried this actually - all I know is that if I view at 60fps @ 60fps - juddering disappears. Then - if you take at 120 fps - the camera is slowing it down to your timeline internally (you specify the fps you want it to write out to), so that is probably why. If I use a gimbal - I am stunningly surprised at just how slowly it pans - so that takes some self control :D There are a lot of variables to play with here - it is a bit of a 3D chess mind melt!! Final Cut Pro did help me out a bit with this actually - there is a feature called "Optical Flow". For other reasons I moved to DaVinci - and have not found anything similar - yet! So whether or not the X-H2S is not showing the same issues as you might take at 4K 120fps or it is due to the faster readout speed is an interesting question. I suspect it could be a combination. Like I said - I think the issue gets worse form me if I use the 4K HQ or 6K modes - so I think it is challenging the 40MP read out speed. I am actually curious as how the X-S20 behaves - as it is only a 26MP sensor (like the X-H2S) - it may actually be better for video than the X-H2 or X-T5. What a tangled web 😂Thanks for replying 😀
Asi I am kind of limited to having one camera - it has actually changed my video technique. ie I rarely pan now!! However - take heart - if you pan on an iPhone for example it is even worse. Although curiously horizontal pans are way worse than vertical ones (assuming you are trying to take in horizontal 16:9) - ie not taking vertical video for Instagram purposes. Now my brain is hurting again!!
BUT - and here is the final fly in the ointment which I don't quite understand. My GoPro and Osmo Action are perfect when it comes to panning. But actually I think that could be because they effectively have an electronic gimbal - this is different from Digital Image Stabilisation I think - as if you pan quickly you can watch it catch up on the screen if you pan too fast. Digital Image Stabilisation on mirrorless cameras from any manufacturer does not seem to be as advanced as this. You would think it would not be too difficult for them to line up - although it is important to note that Action Cams have much smaller sensors - so again, that could be why.

Thank you lovely Leo ☺️ yes a lot of effort but it is worth it. It is sad but there will be more adventures on the way ☺️
Gorgeous photos. Just wondering what film simulations did you use for your landscape photos. Thanks.
Thank you! I mix it up depending on the scene but mostly standard, or the softer settings with less contrast and saturation 🙃
👏👏👏

Dear Hi. Which simulation you are using on this trip. Or only RAW
Hi, I can’t remember completely as it was a while ago but I always shoot in RAW and the film simulation is usually standard or chromatic chrome 🙂
