Hi - we'd recently posted about this on Facebook - the info is as follows: Nestled along the River Walk is a giant boulder, an erratic, left by a glacier in its journey down the valley. Though it is likely to have travelled many miles, it found a unique spot, wedged in a rock cleft overlooking the Shimna river. The vast flat face is actually the result of the boulder being split by the power of ice ! When the area was cleared of trees, the third Earl of Clanbrassil instructed stone masons to inscribe a biblical quote from St John onto its face. Nature's history meets human craftmanship !
Really interesting video, fascinating glimpse into the history of the Follies.
Very interesting. I've been round Tollymore many times and always wanted to know its history.
Loved Tollymore forest.
I camped there Sept 2011. Would love to go back there.
Does anyone know the history of the stone with the words: STOP. Look around and praise the name of him who made it all
