I hate how YT is so alienating nowdays, i don't feel any community from it. Just creators doing everything for money. Nd' it's not only on YT, it's everywhere. Internet becoming empty, and you have no way to change anything about it, cuz even if you screamed nobody would read your comment because you don't matter, you are just number.
Just about every video you see is straight from the algorithm. 99% of content creators can't make quality 10-20 minute videos every week so all you see is the slop generated for the lowest common denominator. There are good channels out there with good communities but that's not going to be on the home page.
I do and have done YT for 10 years on and off and sometimes it is weird. I have a second channel for issues like the copyright system. Upload to the second account to check for copyright. Most of the time the company who owns the content just wipe the videos. I don’t make money but still get claims to take it down. Some have allowed them to stay but they get full revenue which I find just fine. I have had videos not get claimed only for years later they get claimed. How is that fair? You can never be safe sometimes. I have videos that I upload to the dead channel for it to not care or allow me to post. It’s favoritism.
Mr. Beast won’t fail. This is a PR move. Look, MR Beast got sooo big no advertisers could afford him. If UA-cam can’t sell its best “mascot” to advertisers, WHAT GOOD IS HE ? So they letting him get bad or for a bit. It’s like shooting a gun in the air to lower property values. Jimmy will come out of this more “relatable” as he has gone through “struggles” and then his brand price point will drop enough to bait advertisers back to the plataform 👍
I know no one will read this but, what feels empty for me is how all the content feels automated, take the MrBeast situation, tons of people make videos all saying one thing and talking about the same topic. Don't get me wrong, you can use it to grow your channel, and I am not calling the people who make it are bad people or milkers, but when literally everyone starts making video of it it really shows how much of a hivemind everyone is, and the original message can get lost. Imagine someone says something about someone and then it goes through one video, then another, then another and then it turns into this completely different allegation that they are a pred, and assaulter, an awful person who should be pushed off the internet, and it can be false for everyone knows. And then there's the awful interchangeable UA-cam shorts that are just "So and so did this, what happens next is shocking", again no hate for people who actually do work, but there are AI ones with AI voices that just have the same footage in the background and were ran through ChatGPT or some other AI site. Lastly, the algorithm, the reason why this is a problem at all is because the algorithm has been figured out and now everyone knows how to make their videos pop out and be clicked on, while people who don't know how to get the algorithm to like them get shafted and quit. I know someone who draws very very good animations, they're quitting because their drawings don't show up, another channel was posting Minecraft content, but then switched to posting MrBeast content because they were also not getting views until that. People miss the old UA-cam and that's because the old UA-cam didn't have the algorithm figured out, it was "Broadcast Yourself" and that's what people did, but now it's just talk about drama and you blow up. Again, no hate on creators who make drama content, but when everyone and I mean everyone does it and that's the only thing that blows up shows a major problem.
Eventually the Internet will go Archipelagic again. It's a matter of time, and eventually things will hit a breaking point. It will get worse before it gets better...
I find copyright insanely stupid. If youre uploading the entirety of a song by itself with like a picture of the album cover. SURE TAKE IT DOWN. But if youre making a fan music video, or a documentary and you use like less than a minute of the music in the background to set the mood. You should be able to monetize your videos.
Finally someone is talking about this sh!t, it's unbelievable how UA-cam evolved like this... Believe or not yesterday I had the same thought, I was watching old PewDiePie videos and i visited CaptainSparklez's channel just to see watch going on with him cuz i didn't hear anything from him for years! Also Tom Scott was one of my favorite ytbers... Great to see a small creator talking about these topics! Just gives me hope that YT maybe will bring back it's old glory :)
Money utterly ruined the platform. It's motivating Google to keep tightening the rules until UA-cam is just TV to keep advertisers and it's motivating content creators to just let Google step all over them, as well as to treat each other like absolute garbage. All the stuff you were talking about would've happened eventually as well, unfortunately, wherever "people" like this can get a platform to abuse, they will go for it, but all the backstabbing and greed plays, not to mention the complete death of creativity and integrity was totally avoidable if they just never made it a money game. I've come to genuinely hate this site and the vast majority of the people uploading to it, if I wasn't addicted, I'd delete my 14 year old account right now and never return. I hope one day I can build up the strength to do that.
MatPat left youtube so he could put a focus on his family. The transfer of his channel was a multiple year process too. UA-cams algorithm changes every few months. So trying to make content of the same kind of thing makes sense. You won't get the same views since the algorithm has decided something else will be popular and trendy, not promoting it as much. Ai will never fully takeover. If a form does it's due to the coder copilioting and updating it constantly. Machines will always have that machine touch since even the most evolutionary ones look generic since generic stuff is popular
I think people have been doing weird stuff for years on UA-cam, its just now you have people wanting to hold others accountable for their actions (which is a good thing), but you also have people and algorithms obsessed with popularizing the drama and also fake drama that gets spread around. Its what the people and algorithms want.
The reason YT exists, is to commodify their userbase's declining attentionspan to corporate shills for money. Everything else is accidental to this premise. And they are gonna optimise the process to the point where they converge down to providing minimal utility with minimal effort, just about what's necessary to keep us hooked. Cheers!
Actually Dr. Disrespect came out after the NDA was voilated and said that the person was not a minor and that there was no misconduct outside of some sexually distasteful jokes.
I wish UA-cam creators were more original and creative, to be recommended the same slop everyday makes me slowly lose hope for this beautiful platform.
Yip... I joined Feb 2011. Those were the good times. Good content, quality, trust and safety was actually a thing which yt act upon. Now it is simply, figure out what slop sticks, no matter how crap, no matter how meaningless because ALL that matter is making money. 14 years later however, there is a plethora of alternatives which combined is not bad at all. I care nothing for AI generated bs, nor everyone exposing everyone else... these days I use it (yt) when and if I need to ("online security" being my work, it is still useful for gathering intel, recon, etc... other than that if I want to relax I will use Odyssey or such. If you think about start a channel worth your time, this platform is really not worthy of you, accept if you want to produce meaningless, mindless, useless content with ads upon ads making a ~15m vid into a 40m vid.
In my experience, the biggest reason why UA-cam has gotten worse over the years, is because user friendlyness wasn't a priority anymore at some point. There is the concept of "hostile webdesign", which applies to the way UA-cam has changed. You try to make your website as uncomfortable for users not acting the way you want them to act and only stop at the point where it becomes so uncomfortable that users leave your website. UA-cam is in the position of pretty much having a monopoly on free usergenerated webvideos, so the line of discomfort, where users would actually leave the website is very high. UA-cam has removed useful functions like seperate subscription boxes and the dislike button, still tries to push shorts, hides/delets comments, isn't well moderated(you just have to change the spelling and use words like "yevv" and a comment doesn't count as antisemitic anymore for example), it doesn't only allow scam ads(sometimes even dangerous ones pushing "alternative medicin"), but doesn't remove them, when reportet, tries to push more and more ads(and on many days I've actually seen way more scam ads than legitimate ads) and one of the most important, it has changed the recommendations and how the search works. If you are from Germany and watch any german UA-camr that has a low subscriber count, talks about politics, or if you just use the UA-cam front page, you will get recommendations for far right UA-cam channels, including bullying-/harassment channels, that should be(and probably are) illegal. UA-cam search also has gotten less and less helpful and instead of showing you results that have a high overlap with your search terms, you get shown results with a "high relevance"(meaning popular videos). So if you search for "speedrun [niche indie game]" you get shown speedruns of popular games and videos with many views from channels with many subscribers. A lot of the smaller channels I watch or used to watch would be impossible for me to find nowadays, while UA-cam constantly tries to push "popular" channels and videos onto me, that I don't want to see. Searching on UA-cam worked worse for me, when I was logged in, than when I wasn't logged in and even then, UA-cam shows you the same search results again and again(like the same videos 3 or 4 times, when you scroll down far enough), so you possibly never arrive at a video, that you would want to see, but that UA-cam would rather not want you to watch, because there are videos that supposedly keep you on the site better, or can be monitised better, because they're more advertiser friendly. UA-cam feels empty, because the recommendations and search results are empty. The channels and videos exist, you just can't find them anymore, because UA-cam wants you to watch "big monetisable UA-camr"(even if that's a barely covert nazi) instead. Like many people I used to like UA-cam as a website, nowadays I just begrudgingly use it, because there is no viable alternative. I'm not even logged in most of the time anymore, because what are the benefits? UA-cam recommending you videos based on data they claim they don't collect, when you opt out? Talking to people in the comments and part of the conversation being deleted, or not even knowing if your own comment will be hidden/deleted? UA-cam disabling your video player, because you used an AD-Blocker to escape their scam ads and sometimes unskippable 40 minutes ads, that are only 1 of multiple ads?

This is why I like smaller channels in general
Just about every video you see is straight from the algorithm. 99% of content creators can't make quality 10-20 minute videos every week so all you see is the slop generated for the lowest common denominator. There are good channels out there with good communities but that's not going to be on the home page.
you have to find the right community. they still exist, but it takes more effort to maintain, curate, and most importantly reach out with them.
Great video, surprised u dont have at least 1k subs
It's money. When money is the motivation behind things, it always moves in the same way. That's was never the case for early UA-cam

With how many UA-cam videos are there today, this phenomena is not surprising to say the least
Love to see a new content creator on my feed with some really solid material. I've liked and subbed. Keep it up!
I think Mr beast is too big to be taken down, Logan Paul still has a platform
sssniperwolf has a platform too

Wilbur Soot was "accused of biting his girlfriend" I mean that's one way to put "physically, mentally and emotionally abusing his partners"
I don't care about belonging to a community but it's sad to see everything being generated for the purpose of profit.
Dyranged, cool content keep it up bro

The fact streaming content is so shit, an ai could do it says... What we should all already know
5:36 does Kwebbelkop think he's the next Steve Jobs with that profile picture.

Good video, sir, keep it up.
Hey why would you mention Brian Barczyk in this context? He did not 'step back from his channel' he passed away earlier this year.
commenting to boost this vid on the algorythm
i miss the old kanye😔

in response to the title without watching the video my response is...Obviously...
I’m still confused as to how you have less that 1k vies
it's because they started paying people for making youtube videos... what do you expect?
The volume is fairly inconsistent.
I think it's ironic for you to comment on controversy while making this type of video
again with the nostalga bait
