    Boy could Chris and his Uncle John have used that beast on the 10 acre pond job the did earlier this year the had to clean out a swampy mess at one end and fix the damn and logged area at the other end.
    I don't know why but Chis's pond job series are my favorites.
    It's absolutely fascinating how he can take an utter disaster and transform it into a thing of beauty.

      I like the sand dredging job he keeps going back to. Last time he was there he only had some maintenance dredging but before that he had dredged out a mountain of sand and had two big dump trucks ( Uncle John and another the same size) and one “cute” little single axle dump truck that held only 1-2 buckets worth.

Shout Out to John for puttin' that real work in while Chris was on vacation. The ladies still dig older excavators.

    Back in the early nineties while vacationing in Santa Cruz CA., I watched a long reached excavator in operations doing stream dredging maintenance. When I returned back from my vacation, I went to see my local CAT salesperson on Oahu, Hi. Over the course of several years till present, we were able to purchase 4-long reach excavators and 1-amphibious long reach excavator, we eventually phased out our fleet of dragline crawler cranes.

      Makes transport more difficult and unless you get wider tracks it sinks more and tears up the ground more due to the added weight. Plus swing time and added fuel burn.

If it hadn’t been for the weight and physics wanting to tip you into the pond anyways,,,,,. Haha. Should be a pretty good time saver as well!! One more opportunity to bid on some more unique projects! Projects like that big drain pipe project you guys had started and finished a portion of, but that was so deep you were going down in levels with your excavators to get deep enough. It’s a big thing to remain competitive or maybe even one step ahead of the others!! I suspect it can help you too Chris when you are bidding on certain pond projects.
    A fun new addition. Now when you gonna get that dragline??? 😂😂😂
    Take care John & Chris!!

    Nice machine, although it appears that you need some windex. Good luck with it.

    Surprised the pond was not drained down. We had a similar style pond on the course and it was drained down with the creek that fills it up running through to the breach they made to drain it...

    Chris , how about a update on that eye..I couldn’t imagine running a long stick like that with no depth perception! I have to say I’m glad for a muck bailing job …seems like all you’ve done for the last 6 months is tree clearing jobs and the big pond build.

    Wow! Chris you mastered the long reach bucket on the first scoop. Cool machine.
    Liked seeing your vacation video at of all places a Volvo Dealership with your best buds.
    I know you had fun. Wishing you and your family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

    What a time saver that long reach is going to be on jobs like this. No hauling mats, no moving mats, great investment.

    I assume by the way you judge that long reach dump, your eye is better. Good to know as your excellent eye for topography likely requires two good eyes. Best wishes.

    The amount of dredging you do that machine will earn its keep. 👍

    Theres an awful lot of spring in those booms. I threw a bucket load of muck into the cab once. I was lucky the front window was up, so I only had to clean the cab out and of course myself.

    I’d like to have that long reach excavator on my farm for a week or so to clean out my 4 ponds. We had the 3 acre pond dredged over a decade ago but it wasn’t dredged with a long reach. The other three ponds have never been touched. I actually have 5 ponds counting the minnow pond. I could easily keep an excavator busy for a couple of weeks dredging, clearing trees and brush from around the ponds and repairing a muskrat damaged dam between two ponds. I’d really like to take the damaged dam out and make it one big pond.

    One thing I have always been curious about is what is the actual reach of a long boom like this. I know it you said 60ft boom but what is the actual reach. Is it shorter or could it be longer then advertised. Every time I have operated one I space measuring it.

    • @Crash5291
      @Crash5291 Рік тому +2

      I can't speak to the Volvo 's setup but the Linkbelt 3400 Quantum 60' i ran when measured was over 59' of reach on the ground with a tape, that's with the 3/4 yard bucket it had on when bought.

    • @ionstorm66
      @ionstorm66 Рік тому +2

      The boom is 60FT, you loose some distance from the pivot to the edge of the track, but you gain some from the bucket.
