There are alot of elderly homeless, as medical costs threw them out into the streets. I know of one cancer patient lost her home and everything due to medicine. She is now in a tent...this can happen to anyone. Another one was attorney lost it all in the stock market and other investments. I would say the homeless due to major inflation and more will throw a lot of people out on the street in 2023 mainly because of lost jobs and debts. This issue is going to blow if people do not understand they may be next.
Over the years, I have observed that when people are financially comfortable, it's "out of sight, out of mind" for them. That is why this homeless issue has gone on for so long. People have just turned a blind eye to the whole matter. Until it happens to you...only then the eyes are able to see.
The Oahu government paid millions to build bathrooms on the beach, and they were destroyed almost the same month it opened by mentally ill and drug users who live on the beach and need MENTAL HEALTH doctors to prescribe legit drugs for their mental problems. There is HELP for homeless people, but they have to abide by the housing regulations.
Everyone knows it is illegal to camp on the sidewalk or beach without a permit. It puts a strain on the community to avoid a day on the beach when "houseless" are a few feet away. All bathrooms on the wes side are trashed, if not lived in by houseless. I sympathize with houseless, but there are many many non-profits out there to help, city and state governments with millions available. Why are there still houseless on the beach?
So we are calling it houseless instead of homeless now eh? Anyway. The cruel world truth is it's not laziness or drug addiction at this point when it comes to Hawaii specifically. Ordinary people just don't have enough money. Hawaii is too expensive overall.
@@Noel-ip2gj sorry to hear. much more common these days. At least homeless in Hawaii is survivable from a weather and environment aspect. Mainland get's way too cold in every state.

How? if you can show financial hardship, they would get the cancer drugs at no cost

Very funny, “endure winter storm” in Hawaii?
Houseless, homeless, let's just call the whole thing off.
Why house less now? That somehow seems less offensive? Just say homeless for goodness sake
stop giving them money every month and enabling the homeless lifestyle...
Suppose to cite people digging trenches and moving rocks to save homes smh just saying
Oh no unpermitted trench. People in north shore knows what that means
What does it mean? Serious question.
Felt bad seeing different camps on the way to work Monday. They had no chance against the rain.

Hawaii is too expensive overall.
You’re probably right. However, if you can’t afford to live there (Oahu)because of expense than you should move to some place more affordable, right?
@@Noel-ip2gj right.
assuming one has enough money saved up to make the move. I for example just barely get by.
There's no way out.
@@StyleshStorm not just you, 60% of the country is living paycheck to paycheck. I’m one disaster away from becoming in debt up to my eyes.
