Perceived value doesn't mean anything when the actual value is a real number lol these parts are expensive because people complain about the parts being expensive
Well let’s try to visualize this. You’re more likely to spend $20 than $300, right? Well there’s lots of situations that happen to get that part that you’re buying. Let’s say those numbers are cost, so let’s sell them for $40/$340, same profit value. You’re more likely to sell the $40 product, so you can eventually drop the price to $38, then $35, all the way down to $30, which now you’re selling even more. The $340 may drop to $338, but who wants that when for less than that you can buy the entire device used for the same or even less? So now that $338 price never drops. Not to mention if you’re refurbishing, that $338 part has a higher chance of being damaged during refurbishing, which will cause companies to raise that cost even more. So now that $338 part goes to $380 because supply is finite, and you took some away from the supply (honestly similar to how BTC works). So the part isn’t expensive to be expensive. OLED parts cost more money to make than LCDs, while LCDs are SOOOOOO much easier to make aftermarket versions of when compared to OLEDs, especially curved OLEDs. Even now an aftermarket Samsung Note8 (yes a phone from 2017) screen is inferior to the OEM version in quite a few ways, and the price difference is very minimal. Even then those are $100 for aftermarket while an iPhone X is $45. There’s more variables in pricing, but that’s the broad overview of why that seller or store isn’t price gouging you (assuming they’re charging less than $100 over part cost that they can show you). It cost me $210 to buy that screen wholesale, expect maybe a $20 price difference depending on who you buy from, but under $100 for the part will be aftermarket (for the Samsung Note10 Plus)
@RealWorldReview can the screen and frame be repaired? My phone was stolen back in July and when they found out they couldn't get into the threw it on a busy bridge and it got ran over multiple times I had a Otterbox case on it. It still charges and lights up the sound would work too just can't access anything.
The back came off quite easily using a heat gun and a playing card. However getting the battery out was a pain. You will need to get one of those flat metal pry tools that he uses. Once you've got a bit of the battery lifted you can use the playing card to continue prying it out. I also used a bit of 96% rubbing alcohol to help loosen the glue on the back of the battery. You'll need a good amount of patience to do this screen replacement. He makes it look easy but don't be fooled. The screen cost me $100 from Amazon and the shop was going to charge me $330 to do it for me.
I just did this process. Holy f the battery was a b. Easily the hardest part of the entire process. Used an old credit card and got it out that way though.

Hello! Hi! So my Samsung Note 10+ (5G) is broken and when I took it in to the repair shop they said it was $600 for repair. Is this price fair? If it is, I might as well just buy a new phone all together. Thank you!
Would you happen to know where I can buy the amoled screen at discount. All I can find is 200 or 300 dollar prices. Anything less than 100 would be phenomenal during these crucial times.
Generally the screens cost just as much as the screen with the frame. If you don't apply it properly, the front camera may be blurry. The screen is extremely fragile, so if the frame isn't cleaned perfectly, your new screen may get damaged. Most companies offer no warranty on the screen, but do with the screen in the frame. Lot more glass to break when doing the repair, as well as a lower chance of getting the best water resistance you can post repair (but assume your phone IS NOT water resistant anymore once you break the phone)
It might. But I've changed batteries on phones like the S9, added all the waterproofing back onto the phone, and seen that same phone fail due to liquid damage. Always assume water resistance is gone once you get a crack in any glass components
I am confused. If it comes with the frame and the frame has all those things on it that i dont understand, will it erase my pictures and videos? Where is all that date located in the phone? I've tried connecting phone to laptop but I'm guessing my phone is asking for permission since it vibrates and i cant do anything because the screen is broken and flashing black and blue
Hello, thanks for the video!! Can i use the battery if i've ripped only the metal foil that wraps it? There is any way of fixing it like sealing the hole with electrical tape??? Thanks
In theory it should be fine, but expansion may cause issues with the back glass and even the display. Rather $20 for a battery than $15 for the back and whatever a new screen would cost lol
I always suggest putting a new battery in because if they bend at all they give off a strange amount of radiation I know this because my cousin worked in the airport and they thought her phone was a bomb
Yes, the difference is you would have a new screen on your used phone, rather than a used phone. Refurbished doesn’t always mean that anything has been replaced (also doesn’t guarantee that that replacement was done properly)
Video was great, but I just checked, the screen cost $359 and where I live, the local repair shops charge $350 to replace the screen on a note 10+ that's for parts and labor.

@@RealWorldReview so the screen is cracked and there is a few black and white lines running horizontally
@@naelevangelism Yeah a store should be able to fix that for under $400 for sure
U can buy a new one on ebay for 300$
I accidentally cut through the battery and my left hand and face are on fire. What should I do next?
Great vid btw
Where did u source your screen?

I learned so much from your video please help me
How much is service?
A phone surgeon! Bloody brilliant video but I'm elderly so I'll give this a miss and pay some dodgy ph repair place
Very smooth and accurate explanation, thanks
Would you happen to know where I can buy the amoled screen at discount. All I can find is 200 or 300 dollar prices. Anything less than 100 would be phenomenal during these crucial times.
No one in the world can. The cheapest would be from Samsung
How long was total repair time?
I would take 2-3 hours if time is a concern. It takes me an hour to hour and a half to complete with drying times
where can i buy the replacement screen from? great video by the way...
Description has been updated with parts, but right now they're hard to get, and pretty expensive (black one is here amzn.to/3eJyIs5)
Can I ask what the downside to ONLY replacing the screen and not the frame?
Generally the screens cost just as much as the screen with the frame. If you don't apply it properly, the front camera may be blurry. The screen is extremely fragile, so if the frame isn't cleaned perfectly, your new screen may get damaged. Most companies offer no warranty on the screen, but do with the screen in the frame. Lot more glass to break when doing the repair, as well as a lower chance of getting the best water resistance you can post repair (but assume your phone IS NOT water resistant anymore once you break the phone)
@@RealWorldReview I was told that removing the charge port damages the hydrophobic coating causing it to lose its water resistance
This is why I only wanted to replace the screen
Thanks
For $20 or less, you can get a new battery. Highly recommend that, or you might end up with a Note7 in the future
@@RealWorldReview Thank you for the advice, i'll probably will buy one. Here is how it is photos.app.goo.gl/pyVPBmFdtqoo3Edw8
Another thing is it might actually expand overtime (had this happen on an A01)
@@RealWorldReview But there is an high risk of fire or can it operate for some time??
In theory it should be fine, but expansion may cause issues with the back glass and even the display. Rather $20 for a battery than $15 for the back and whatever a new screen would cost lol
Very nice tutorial. Great job. You "almost" got me to try and fix my screen on my own lol. I'll just live with it 😑
If only it was cheaper to fix lol
If I had all tools, I would do it, right now, iam doing the same, live with it, soon I will be careless about that crack
Nice! as I type on my broken screen 🙃
Great and thanks
My note 10plus screen is cracked but local samsung repair shop is saying your mother board will be changed what should I do?
I'm going to try this omg im so nervous
How to replace only the spen flex cable?
Where do you buy the cable? Can't find anywhere to buy it
@@RealWorldReview ifixit has it
@@aloochat3555 interesting. Doesn't seem fun to replace. High chance of damaging the display which is a lot of money
@@RealWorldReview yea but the screen cost compared to the cable cost is big, cable cost 7-15 dollars.
That's correct, but removing the OLED to change that cable is extremely risky.
Can I pay you to fix mine?
I always suggest putting a new battery in because if they bend at all they give off a strange amount of radiation I know this because my cousin worked in the airport and they thought her phone was a bomb
How much is this job?
Phone still holds up in 2021 through 2022
About to fix mine
genius!
How much does the screen cost? It seems like the display unit itself is the same price of a refurbished note 10+. Utterly ridiculous
Yes, the difference is you would have a new screen on your used phone, rather than a used phone. Refurbished doesn’t always mean that anything has been replaced (also doesn’t guarantee that that replacement was done properly)
Why is Samsung so expensive to repair. And what is the best screen protector
Part cost is very high. Personally I recommend the UV tempered glass screen protectors
totally pain in the ass. fuck it ill buy a new one
Video was great, but I just checked, the screen cost $359 and where I live, the local repair shops charge $350 to replace the screen on a note 10+ that's for parts and labor.
Yes, that's around how much I can fix it actually. Not sure why. I get the part wholesale though
