I’m pretty sure the reference to Corto Maltese Island in the DCU is a nod to a famous Italian comic book character of the same name (minus the ‘Island’ bit), created by Hugo Pratt. He’s an amazing character and the art in the books is beautiful. That said, I haven’t read the comics since I was a kid, and given it was written in the 60s the reality may be that in hindsight the character is actually some sort of Pluck-a-Duck sex pest.

Its crazy to me to think that Gunn what Batista for this because Cena's casting feels like a satire on his role in WWE as an american loving blue eyed babyfaced hero.
@ 18:14 Mason is referring to Heelvsbabyface’s video thumbnail, because _of course_ , only that guy can have that kind of reaction to a show with the premise such as Y’s lmao.
I find it SUCH a shame that Will Smith didn't return because I feel like he just knew the first was so bad the second couldn't be bothered with, but I really feel like Gunn could have really put Smith in the limelight again. I loved the acting, the directing, you can tell the actors were robbed in the last movie. Waller was honestly amazing and even though Quinn is separate, they do her so much justice like she was owed this her whole contract .
It was timing since he was doing other stuff like that Williams sisters father bio-pic. But, yeah, I would like to see Bloodsport and Deadshot possibly bump heads or work together in a flick or whatever.
The next mission, June Moon threatens and forces Waller to make another team. A team to hell and back to get Rick Flag. Imagine a squad of heavy hitters in a trippy hellscape world. Trying to get Rick Flag back. They could find and Waller could offer Boomer a deal in hell. Successfully complete the mission, get ten years out of hell.
TSS definitely had pacing problems; but love how much fun it was without if compromising the thematic core of the premise and it’s political themes. Also big kudos to Gunn for honouring birds of prey in some regard.
@@Etticos. 2 moments stuck out to me. When she kills the president; Harley’s monologue it felt like a thematic epilogue to birds of prey and during her escape, it’s shot and framed like the Gotham police fight from birds of prey. It was clear Gunn was a fan.
Can respect your opinion, but that is the point of the show. It’s one of the greatest satirical pieces of the past 30 years. Would encourage you to try rewatching and look past the silly animation and crude humor. There is something much deeper there.
If anything, South Park parallels situations that we take for granted/cognitively dismiss and reflects it through an obnoxious and arrogant 20 minute premise.
I’m the same, I found the humor really repetitive and grating, most of the jokes are just people being awful to each other to amuse the audience and make them seem super edgy or whatever. It tries to communicate genuine ideas, but can’t get over its own need to seem cool and irreverent
That Tomb Raider analogy makes no sense because there have been plenty of franchises that have bounced back from negatively received entries. He’s an amazing character and the art in the books is beautiful. That said, I haven’t read the comics since I was a kid, and given it was written in the 60s the reality may be that in hindsight the character is actually some sort of Pluck-a-Duck sex pest.
I love you guys so much, but how on GODS GREEN EARTH DID YOU NOT TALK ABOUT KING SHARK LOL
He was a good big hungry boy.
Nick and James need to be on a Lan Party episode of the Aunty Donna pod
Wanted more Capaldi. Hoping he gets a role in GOTG 3 now off of this.
Capaldi for Adam Warlock.
Mason is so right on South Park lowkey. That cynical fence sitting do be annoying. Truth isn’t always I’m the middle. Glad someone else noticed.
It's absurdist comedy of course it's going to be cynical. I can't imagine south park taking a hard stance on anything. It'd defeat the purpose i feel.
Totally, they love to make fun of shit but they’re too obsessed with seeming like a bunch of irreverent cool kids who’re above it all to actually say something with any depth. It’s just “hey haven’t you noticed everything’s super fucked up?” over and over again without actually having its own take
Loved the yelling. Good work! Nice to see people taking a stand!
Its crazy to me to think that Gunn what Batista for this because Cena's casting feels like a satire on his role in WWE as an american loving blue eyed babyfaced hero.
favorite tired man yelling on the internet
@ 18:14 Mason is referring to Heelvsbabyface’s video thumbnail, because _of course_ , only that guy can have that kind of reaction to a show with the premise such as Y’s lmao.
it'd be neat if the peacemaker show is like a slightly goofy punisher show
Thanks for mentioning Trevor Moore. Fantastic comedian and great man. Watch “Horses Love Stegosauruses.” Voted the best comedy sketch of all time.*
I look forward to Caravan of garbage: hey hey its saturday.
I enjoyed TSS but my expectations were very low.
42:04 when did they mass tweet him, I can't remember
So no mention of king shark?
Chris McKay did the Dr Dolittle re-writes, but did he do work on the dragon rear-writes
The best part of this review is that I now finally understand Donnie Darko.
When do they talk about donnie darko?
The next mission, June Moon threatens and forces Waller to make another team. A team to hell and back to get Rick Flag. Imagine a squad of heavy hitters in a trippy hellscape world. Trying to get Rick Flag back. They could find and Waller could offer Boomer a deal in hell. Successfully complete the mission, get ten years out of hell.
TSS definitely had pacing problems; but love how much fun it was without if compromising the thematic core of the premise and it’s political themes. Also big kudos to Gunn for honouring birds of prey in some regard.
How did they pay honor to Birds of Prey? I don’t recall anything explicit.
@@Etticos. 2 moments stuck out to me. When she kills the president; Harley’s monologue it felt like a thematic epilogue to birds of prey and during her escape, it’s shot and framed like the Gotham police fight from birds of prey. It was clear Gunn was a fan.
@@qwellen7521 interesting, I’ll have to take another peak at that, thanks!
@@Etticos. they also changed the tattoo on her back to say "Property of no one" instead of "Property of Joker"
What’s with the edit on this one (at least the Spotify one has tons of cuts or mess ups idk)
The Rick Flagg clone thing would be kind of hilarious.
I think they left room for Starro to come back because Polka Dot Man cut his leg off and when a Starfish loses a limb the limb can grow a new starfish
Why is the subscription is in USD and not in Aussie Dollaridoos?
Just never got into South Park. It always seemed kind of malicious, mean-spirited and unfriendly as a kid.
It's supposed to be, just, not for kids haha
Can respect your opinion, but that is the point of the show. It’s one of the greatest satirical pieces of the past 30 years. Would encourage you to try rewatching and look past the silly animation and crude humor. There is something much deeper there.
If anything, South Park parallels situations that we take for granted/cognitively dismiss and reflects it through an obnoxious and arrogant 20 minute premise.
@@vgr9495 is that the same show where they basically call you an idiot for having an opinion about something?
I’m the same, I found the humor really repetitive and grating, most of the jokes are just people being awful to each other to amuse the audience and make them seem super edgy or whatever. It tries to communicate genuine ideas, but can’t get over its own need to seem cool and irreverent
That Tomb Raider analogy makes no sense because there have been plenty of franchises that have bounced back from negatively received entries. There's too much in the world going on right now to really determine why The Suicide Squad "failed". The positive buzz and whatnot is going to pay off well just from merchandising. You know Ratcatcher Hot Toys are going to sell like crazy
I don't have youtube...Where else can I see the sketches?
OH MAN! I loved The Whitest Kids U Know in high school! Sad to hear about Trevor, I’ll go back and watch all their sketches for good memories. The grape thing I’m sure has aged well.
"Hand" 🖐
I subscribe to this channel, only for the Pluka Duck news. Dicky Knee? Yeah he was OK, but Red and Wibur were carrying him TBH.
🎵It's not a chicken, or a cow... Plucka Duck! That's him right now!🎶
The Horror..... The Horror
They should’ve just continued with Dracula untold & continued with The invisible man
Just as there is a moment in a fathers life where he will pick up his child for the last time, there will be a moment where James says, “West World” for the last time, as much as I don’t want it to be so. I listen keenly for when the West World interjection finally ceases so that I may mark the date for future celebration, reflection, and mourning.
hey look my awkwardly written review finally made it in lol.
The hunger games prequel takes place 64 years before the first book and is the origin of the evil guy with the white beard.
Oh wow. Gunn should do the Forgotten Heroes!
If you read the Garfield comic in a volume it’s an on going back and forth between Garfield and the clock so the joke works better if you read all of them but for regular readers it’s not as funny
I don’t know, there are two years between the end of black widow and the start of infinity war. Plenty of time for a trilogy to play out...
I did enjoy Sniper Business. Thanks, Mason!
Maybe TDK will be the main baddy in the 2nd one, if they do make another
There is some great bant in this episode.
Thanks.
Does this being posted mean a hot new trailer is about to come out?
They messed up with Polkadot Man I feel, they build him has the trump card but just gave him a negated moment of awesome for a gag,
I liked Milton, that was the funniest scene for me 🤣
To Maso: Cowboy Bebop ends with a bang.
So does that mean the letter F is pronounced Fef in Australia?
Next up for the Dark Universe, a buddy henchman movie staring Bruno from SCTV's Count Floyd show played by Eugene Levey and Manservant Hecubus from Kids in the Hall played by Dave Foley.
It’s easy to bring back the dead in universe. Just use a Lazarus pit
Google it if you don’t know. No shame in not knowing
31:37 hey make Hunger Games ones
Non spoiler: I really liked it but I feel like the deaths were actually pretty predictable for the most part.
Youse should talk about quint essential aussie things from the herald sun more often.
As a non aussie who has never been to aussie, I agree as it is enlightening and humorous. I looked up the “Hey Hey Saturday” horni duck and wasn’t disappointed.
nah.
35:50 Those are all pretty bad examples tbh... I think this phenomenon probably applies more to something like Dredd 2012 which, while not a sequel, was a genuinely great movie that did poorly because the main frame of reference audiences had was the terrible 1995 film with Sylvester Stallone.
@@ThreadBomb I remember being on message boards around the time Dredd came out and most people were pretty dismissive because to them Judge Dredd was just that one crappy movie. Also as I recall the marketing was pretty lame for that movie too.
Peacemaker, Viola Davis, the US Government, and the unvaccinated were my favorite characters
I really enjoyed it. This might have saved the DCeU
Spoiler alert...
It didn't.
Doom patrol has a new trailer that looks pretty amazing... Just a little topic for ya to talk about next week if u needed something.
Don’t you hate joining a conversation mid sentence
I didn’t like that it had chapter headings mainly because I couldn’t read what half of them said
No mention of King Shark??? Wtf
Wait, so Hulk doesn’t eat people???
" NO MASON"
I think I was a little too hyped for this movie. I enjoyed it, but it didn't quite reach the heights that I was expecting. Or maybe watching in the cinema really changes things that much, because I haven't truly enjoyed a superhero romp in a while.
Same
Way over hyped. This movie was a big chungus of bs and wasted time!
@@steakcrust558 what the fuck does this mean
@@TheKingOfRooks bruh you need to calm down and relax. The movie sucked booty
@@steakcrust558 I meant the "Big Chungus of bs" bit I have never heard that in my life
That was the laugh of a horse thief, Nick Mason.
