    I love that character changes from the first film are not only an improvement, they make perfect sense in-story as well.
    Harley's broken up with Joker so rather than oozing forced sex appeal she's more positive and proactive about dealing with "bad boyfriends".
    Flag has had multiple missions to get along with the Squad while simultaneously coming to terms with all the messed up shit his government has been ordering him to do/cover-up.
    And Waller has just grown colder and more ruthless after years of leading the operation. Also related to Waller, her executing the perfect robotic bureaucrats in the first film means she's stuck with the B team office workers.

      Yeah - hard to blame him really. Looking at that lab, it seems as though he wasn't exactly exposed to the brighter side of mankind. Throw in the torture, and yeah - he was probably bordering on Insanity.

    My only real disagreement is on Peacemaker, they seem to be lukewarm on Cena's performance in the movie but in the theaters he had the most laugh out loud moments of anyone. I do agree that I'd prefer a Flagg TV show over a Peacemaker one especially given how amazing Flagg's character resurrection was in this film, but Cena was surprisingly great. Given that Gunn wrote the show, I imagine it'll be a political satire mixed in with incredibly violence which might be easier to pull off with Peacemaker than a Flagg "villain co-star of the week" type show they were imagining.

    • @canislupusfool
      @canislupusfool 3 роки тому +3

      I have to agree. I like John Cena but I never thought he was a particularly good actor, however, I thought he gave a great performance in this film.

    • @iNostraD

      Flag had some great moments but he’s not remotely as interesting as Peacemaker, imo.
      I want to see more into his strict code, and can’t forget how hilarious he is.

    • @andrewshandle
      @andrewshandle 3 роки тому +7

      @@iNostraD It all depends on the story they want to tell. There's no doubt that Flag is the more traditional protagonist, but given that the show is an 8 episode run written and (mostly) directed by the guy who wrote the part on the first place, I imagine Peacemaker will better fit the story he wants to tell. I'm definitely looking forward to it.
      My point was that the Flag character was definitely "saved" in this movie compared to the previous movie and I'd like to see more of him. I was surprisingly shook when he died in the movie, so Gunn and Kinnaman did a good job making him a likable character.

    • @ItsTheGuy77
      @ItsTheGuy77 3 роки тому +8

      Peacemaker was an A-Hole. That's how you get people to root for someone like Bloodsport. Who's a freaking assassin. You get a bigger A-Hole who's a borderline, if not not a full on Psychopath
      John Cena did a GREAT job. Didn't know that he had such a great comedic timing. Looking forward to his solo show

    • @andrewshandle
      @andrewshandle 3 роки тому +4

      @@ItsTheGuy77 agree with you on his comic timing. Gunn did great with Dave Batista as well who is mediocre at best in every other movie I’ve seen him in (granted, I haven’t seen them all).
      Maybe it just comes down to good writing and putting him in a position to succeed. You can’t even compare Cena’s two roles he had this summer, he was wooden and boring in F9.

    Anyone else get really confused when people are like "Oh the box office wasn't good. I bet it's because....." you put on a streaming service the same day! Of course the box office isn't going to be good. I don't get why companies are acting so surprised by this haha. I could spent $30, not counting snack, to watch this movie OR I could watch it at home for no additional money of a streaming service I already have with my phone plan... man I wonder what I'm going to do hahaha.

    • @andrewshandle
      @andrewshandle 3 роки тому +10

      The only people who are likely to use the box office numbers are people who will want to argue against the film to be honest, and they'll find any ammo they can regardless if it makes sense or not. I'm the only person I know that saw the movie in the theaters, everyone else just watched it at home on (as you said) the service they already have. Normally I like to go see movies I like at least a second time in theaters later in the run, but I have a 55" TV on my wall with surround sound, so that won't be happening here given I can just throw it on whenever I want. I guess we'll see (if and) when the streaming "numbers" came out if it's successful or not.

    TDK could have been a cool power. Give him guns and clips on his sleeves, with on hand loading the gun in the other and switching off - or providing cover for each other to advance their position. One arm gets shot and flops to the ground and does the whole "go on without me" bit in hand gesters and the other arm picks it up and carries it to safety... just before TDK gets killed because he has to be in eyesight of his arms - exposing him.

He’s an amazing character and the art in the books is beautiful. I find it SUCH a shame that Will Smith didn't return because I feel like he just knew the first was so bad the second couldn't be bothered with, but I really feel like Gunn could have really put Smith in the limelight again. I loved the acting, the directing, you can tell the actors were robbed in the last movie. Waller was honestly amazing and even though Quinn is separate, they do her so much justice like she was owed this her whole contract .

    That Tomb Raider analogy makes no sense because there have been plenty of franchises that have bounced back from negatively received entries. There's too much in the world going on right now to really determine why The Suicide Squad "failed". The positive buzz and whatnot is going to pay off well just from merchandising. You know Ratcatcher Hot Toys are going to sell like crazy
