    • @MrCryingDragon
      @MrCryingDragon 3 роки тому +593

      This is what I've been saying, people always overlook Clint because of all the grander things that happen in the MCU, but just look at what the man has achieved being only a "regular" human. It's all a matter of perspective, if you take away every sci-fi and fantasy element of the MCU and leave this scene, you'd be able to see a single man taking down an entire Yakuza cell, and probably countless other criminal organizations by himself. Imagine Hawkeye in the John Wick universe, dude would clean house.

    • @thiefofjustice4495
      @thiefofjustice4495 3 роки тому +147

      Well there’s Natasha so they’re both pretty equal in terms of skilled fighters

    • @duffman18
      @duffman18 3 роки тому +194

      The avengers would never have been successful without the regular humans. Would have just been a bunch of egos. Someone like Thor never had to learn how to fight and organise an army in a battle. Because they're superpowered and indestructible. So they never lose. They just go round having fun doing whatever, and they still win every time. So when it comes down to an actually powerful foe, they're pretty useless because they have no tactical knowledge
      That's why Hawkeye and Black Widow and even Tony and Steve were so important. Cap was a super soldier but for the vast majority of his life he had to learn how to fight while always being the weaker opponent. And he's actually been in a war. He has tons and tons of real tactical experience. That's why he was the leader of the avengers. Because of his tactical knowledge. Tony had his suit but his real superpower was his brain, and so he was also brilliant tactically, and he always manage to anticipate everything in advance and build a defence for it long before the threat reaches earth or wherever he's defending. I love iron man 3 the most out of all the iron man movies, because he proved that he doesn't even need the suit. He beat an entire small highly trained private army by just using his brain. He beat them with an explosive Christmas bauble and a gun. The suit wasn't necessary
      But especially for Clint and Natasha, they're normal ass humans. They don't even have super powered armour like Tony or the Falcon/cap 2.0. They had to work for everything they had. They had so much tactical knowledge of every kind of situation, not just big battles, but also assassinations and spying and reconnaissance, everything. They were the best in the world cos basically everyone else had lost and died at some point. Those 2 were the ones that always managed to win. And it's because they were super intelligent, more than it was their fighting ability. They would have lost in a fight against any superpowered avenger. But they never would have let themselves get into the position where they could lose in the first place, because of how smart they are
      That's why they were there, from the beginning, as part of the avengers. Because the team would be useless in big battles if it weren't for them. You'd just instead have a bunch of superpowered guys who try to do everything by themselves, and aren't organised, and so they lose
      Which is exactly what happened in Infinity War. They lost because the team had all split up. They only finally defeated Thanos by learning to work together again and burying the hatchet

    What I really like about this scene is that it allows the character of Hawkeye to flourish in his own realm. Half of the planet is gone, his family are gone, so he simply goes back to what he does best, because his life means little else. Whenever Hawkeye is in a scene with a super soldier, a literal God or an a guy in a walking engine of war he seems pointless, but here his prowess really shows. He couldn't go toe-to-toe with most avenger levels threats, so he would be better utilised in small stories like this one, where he and his foes are more evenly matched.

    I never understood why people don't get this scene. "So Hawkeye is just killing Yakuza for no reason?" or "What does he have against the Japanese?".
    This man was so enraged about the loss of his family that not only did he relapse into his life as an assassin, but took it upon himself to hunt down and eliminate all the big criminal groups in the world because if his family couldn't live then neither could these gangs. This is 5 years later. He would've started in North America, worked his way through South America, then either pushed into Europe or gone over to Asia first.
    He is not "killing Yakuza for no reason", they just happen to be next on his long list of names he's already halfway through.

      Yes. Also I think it more 'elegantly' explains WHY Hawkeye is killing gangsters who technically never wronged him or anyone he knew. His 'madness' came from the total randomness of 'the snap', in that he felt it was a grave injustice that 'evil doers' were spared and good people were taken. Not rational when you consider the snap was indeed "RANDOM" in that both good and bad would be taken, but it's a fantastic view into Hawkeye's mindset. He cannot stand by do nothing while there is still evil in the world, even though that 'evil' has nothing to do with him or anyone he knows.

    0:29-0:33. It really showed how Clint was far superior not only in fighting, but in agility as well. I mean, Akihiko fell on his feet, sure, but he stumbled a bit. Clint, on the other hand, just landed like the height meant nothing to him.

    Two things:
    1 - Major props to whoever wrote, composed, and directed this scene. Not only was it a pretty clean one-shot, someone else in the comments mentioned how it was sort of like an homage to Japanese style-cinema. Watching this in theaters, for the first time, you could really feel the jarring but effective tone shift.
    Its unlikely that someone could absorb all the nuance on first viewing, but after seeing it multiple times its evident that this scene did a really, really good job of informing us of where Clint was at during this point of time through the change of his fight style, his words to his opponent, and his single-minded focus of fucking everyone up.
    2 - I love the fact that they went the Ronin route with Hawkeye. I'm sure a decent amount of MCU fans tried to figure out who this character was when it Renner was shown to have a costume shift -- there are a couple of different videos out there describing the comic timeline behind it. Ronin, however, is more of a persona than a character, like a mantle to be worn by those who need it.
    What I'm most excited about its connection to its original wearer, Echo / Maya Lopez, who's confirmed to be in the Hawkeye series. (Details: she's a deaf, Native American 'super'hero with an enhanced photographic memory. Her power is essentially learning another persons patterns and fighting style in the middle of combat and then using their martial weaknesses to take her opponents out).
    Hawkeye's story in Infinity War/Endgame mirrors Echo's comic origins: they both seek vengeance for the people who hurt their family. This gives us the chance to explore the limitations and parallels of the characters backgrounds and disabilities, and I'm so excited for it. (Maybe they'll also give us a passing reference to Daredevil / Matt Murdock, another important part of Echo's story and character representation of heroes with disabilities)

They changed Ghost and Taskmaster's gender as well. So obviously Yelena could easily beat Clint, and Kevin Feige would probably give reasons like "oh it's because Yelena is young and Clint is already old. that's why she easily whooped Clint's ass"🙄

It pains him that the people he considers innocent disappear with the other half of the universe, but the people who are not innocent, who are the reflection of the devil, survive. In addition, this was also a very important scene to see the full capacity of Clint Barton, most people consider him the most unnecessary and weak Avenger, but that's the point. There is no such thing as a weak Avenger, although Clint is a human being, someone who reaches his body to the upper limits and manages to get out of it with his intelligence. Hawkeye went from character out of place, to the character everyone roots for and loves because he's the most relatable to real people. He has no superpowers, he's just a super badass human to the point that he is an avenger, same with black widow and falcon. Hawkeye and falcon are my two favorite avengers because they are just really highly skilled brave HUMANS who can hang with, and fight along superheroes and super villains.
