      Hey Pavel, I’m not sure if you heard but Marsblade is coming out with a new roller hockey skate called the R1 that’s lighter and more meant for competitive inline. I only play ice hockey though and don’t plan on playing roller hockey anytime soon. Would you still recommend getting the off-ice trainers even though they are heavier? Thanks in advance.

      I want to get into roller hockey. Are Marsblade's suitable for beginners? Can I just get the O1's rather than paying the extra hundreds of dollars for the R1's? Am I better to get an entry level pair of Bauer's or CCM's?

    Would you recommend someone new to roller blading coming from skating to buy these or get a cheaper pair to start? Does the ice feel of the marsblades make it easier for a skater to start blading?

    • @PavelBarber

      These are fine for beginners. Beginners will struggle regardless with skates, but the transition will be easier with these (in my experience at least).

    Pavel! Awesome video... Do you use the smaller wheel at the front?

  • @pisauron
    @pisauron 3 роки тому +2

    Why would the radius of your turn change if the actual wheels are not rockering? its still 4 wheels touching at the same time. it is just tricking you since the upper part is rockering making you feel like on ice. But actually. it's still 4 wheel all the time touching meaning the radius stays the same whether you like it or not. the frame length controls the radius.

    • @PavelBarber
      @PavelBarber  3 роки тому +2

      The chassis rockers, allowing the wheels position to change throughout movements. Ex) Tight turns they ensure that all 4 wheels will be in contact with the surface for longer thoughout the movement.

    • @pisauron
      @pisauron 3 роки тому +2

      @@PavelBarber The rocker is above the wheels. Since the length from last wheel center to front wheel center is constant and the wheels are in a flat setup (no smaller ones, in a straight line and level) the radius is always the same. Compare that yo a hilo setup or banana rocker which actually make the radius smaller since you turn on less wheels.
      With the Marsblade you just rocker your body not the wheels. It's the same as if you weren't lacing your shoe allowing the feet to wobble inside...

      Marsblade just came out with a new roller hockey skate called the R1 that’s supposed to be lighter and more durable for competitive inline. You can pre-order them on sale but it says they won’t ship until September...

      @@jltgp6703 I have both, the O1s (what he's using here) have a more ice-like feel. I haven't played in hi-lo inline skates for years and forget what it feels like somewhat, the R1's (with the supposedly most ice-like rocker insert installed) do feel more ice-like to me than I remember trad inline hi-los being (R1 has sharper turns, more ice-like feeling of balance transitioning, coming out of crossovers, etc.) but not as ice like as the 01's. Rumor is Marsbalde is going to release more rocker inserts in the next year and eventually let people custom 3d print them.

    • @mooseman9255
      @mooseman9255 6 років тому

      Zach Zawadzki It would really depend on what kind of tricks you want to do with it. For on-ground dangles (toe drags, backhand-forehand etc.) which you would actually use in a game, it's great as it is. If you want to "zorro" (lacrosse style moves) you would definitely have to curve the toe of that blade.

    • @zachzawadzki5576
      @zachzawadzki5576 6 років тому +1

      I definitely want to do zorro tricks and it has a decent curve on the end but all the videos I watch use sticks with a bit more curve on the blade.

    • @mooseman9255
      @mooseman9255 6 років тому +1

      Zach Zawadzki Yeah i think that zorro tricks are for sure doable with that blade but require quite a lot of skill. It's possible to bend the blade and i believe there are youtube tutorials on how to do it so the blade won't get damaged.

    whats the difference between the marsblade and a rockered setup? for example: [72 80 80 76] or [76 80 80 76]

    • @skatercoldis
      @skatercoldis 5 років тому +1

      With a rockered setup you'll only have 2 wheels on the ground at the time. The Marsblade ables you to shift your weight and still have all 4 wheels on the ground which creates better speed and traction. Also, a rockered setup simply won't be as smooth.

    What a stick for summer hockey “Zeal”?

    • @giampaolofini1535

      It looks like he's using the black plastic "Hockey Wrap-Around" product. It's this plastic sleeve that contours to the bottom and toe of the blade. Normally you're supposed to tape it in place, but pavs is free balling it. Pretty good product , I give it a B- (but about $30 kind of expensive for what it is, just molded plastic, and they will wear down and need to be replaced after 100 or so hours of use) I also have the metal ones- they won't wear down but are noticably heavier and I can't get the teeth of the wrap around to sit flat so it messes up the shot trajectory (I give that a D)

      New bauer are $999. It's 2018... when did $400 become expensive for a investment you'll have for years? Does anyone work and save their money anymore? Scary

    • @XxCurlyManxX
      @XxCurlyManxX 6 років тому

      aaron maxim A mid tier skate can go for 400$ the top of the line skate (Bauer 1s, ccm FT1...) retails for 999$ (that's the beat skates on the market that NHLers use). 435$ for ROLLERBLADES is expensive giving that it's not a skate, they don't need all the protection of a skate, they don't need high quality steel blades, nor the padded tongue...

    • @aaronmaxim
      @aaronmaxim 6 років тому

      XxCurlyManxX fairly certain the rocker system the chassis has and the fact it needs to not snap in half when players skate viciously on them miiiiiight be why their not $150 bucks. Think for a second. What about asking apple why their iphones cost so much if they only make phone calls.....

    • @XxCurlyManxX
      @XxCurlyManxX 6 років тому

      aaron maxim come on now, think and try to be reasonable, how do you think the skate holder would snap in half... They use the same fabric as a normal skate holder (harden plastic which isn't expensive at all) and you don't see them constantly snapping in half. I never said the skate was worth 150$. I said 25% off would be reasonable, which is just over 300$ which is slightly more than a regular high-end rollerblade.
      And that iPhone metaphor is completely irrelevant giving that about half the cost is for the brand name.
