Ex-bassist Miho wrote the foundation for Break the Wall while Miyako then added color to the composition. Miyako wrote the guitar solo in the middle with Gary Moore in mind.
    My favorite LoveBites song!

I think now its a good time to jump into Swan Song with Chopin Intro.

Gets me every time. This is my favorite Lovebites song. It makes my top ten all time metal songs. Full stop. Main riff is fire, reminds me of old school Testament, Slayer, or even Metallica. The Solos are epic and different; Midori and Miyako are fire and ice in style and attitude. Song writing, speed and musicianship, and holy crap that transition between the solos....the breakdown. I give up. It is great to be a fan of old school metal all over again.

I second the suggestions thus far to check out "Swan Song". Here is some background and a link: Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. If you want to see what she can do on the piano, watch “Swan Song” WITH the prelude, which is Chopin’s “Revolutionary Etude” (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). Miyako wrote “Swan Song” using elements from several classical pieces including the Etude. This link should work: ua-cam.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/v-deo.html.

I can't think of two so totally different but complimentary solos in one number. When Miyako uses her Les Paul it brings out the inner Gary Moore in her. Lovebites play more than power and thrash metal. For something different from them you should check out "Swan Song" (with the Chopin intro), "Edge of the World", "Epilogue", "Frozen Serenade" and "Spellbound" to appreciate their versatility in playing styles and songwriting. They write all their own songs, the black haired guitarist is responsible for about 50% of them. Live versions of all of these recommendations are on YT.

I think it’s time you saw and heard the other end of the Lovebites spectrum. Liking the second solo (both brilliant in their own right), then you’ll love Miyako’s playing in this. Two Words. Gary Moore. ua-cam.com/video/JIAJYBuuKGM/v-deo.html

I suspect that the reason Miyako is playing that Les Paul here is because on one of their previous lives, "Daughters of the Dawn," she tried this song with her Dean Switchblade ML and couldn't _quite_ pull off the bends during the chorus. My guess is that the Floyd Rose was fighting her, but who knows. Since this song is tuned to drop D, she can't use her Dean USA Icon since that's always in standard tuning, so she broke out a third guitar for this song and "Raise Some Hell," a guitar where the bends are easier.

    • @1970Phoenix
      @1970Phoenix Рік тому

I assumed it was just for the sound she was after. In my opinion, the Les Paul has a much "smoother" sound for the bluesy solo than her Dean. When I've heard her do this solo with her Dean, it had a more abrasive sound that (in my subjective opinion) didn't fit that particular solo well.

    • @PaleHorseShabuShabu
      @PaleHorseShabuShabu Рік тому

@@1970Phoenix It could be an issue with the scale, too. I'd have to check each guitar's specs, but if the Gibson has a smaller scale than the Dean, that would make the bends easier, too.

LOVEBITES - Break The Wall lyrics:
(DIE) No sign of my time
Cause I wish to live another life
(BY) Who will save my poor soul?
Crying alone in a dim hole
    (MY) Can't believe it's real
Cause in the end, everything is gone
(SIDE) How should I live from now?
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free
    Bite, I'll break the chain
    Run to my shelter
    Make it out alive
I have to break through the wall
    (DIE)
    No sign of my crime
    Got my scars during wartime
    (BY)
Who's the one that did it
    Deadly venom eating me inside
    (MY)
    Spent my life in vain
    I can't forget everything I've done
    (SIDE)
    I swear to my hatred
Find myself staring at the walls
    Tonight, I'll break the wall
    It's now or never
    Now, I'm on my own
    I've gotta get free

Lovebites is my favorite band. Miyako & Midori are arguably the best guitar duo EVER, and I have no shame saying that. Miyako is my all time favorite musician (was Keith Emerson for decades). Haruna is an a drummer, with speed, clean playing, amazing fills and transitions. She works her entire kit. Miho chugged right along on bass, and I think now that Fami is the bassist things might get a little more interesting. Asami is the best anti-metal voice I've ever heard, and it works perfectly. Some perspective - I'm 63 and began my metal journey in 1971 with Zeppelin. I never thought I would find my all time favorite metal band in 2022 and a new favorite musician, but I have.
One step further - Lovebites holds the top two spots of my all time favorite songs. Break the Wall is the best thrash song ever for me (Exodus is my favorite pure thrash band, and Class Dismissed was my favorite thrash song). The contrasting solos are epic, Midori is a thrash queen while Miyako (who can also shred) plays with more emotion. Remember I said Keith Emerson? Miyako's first instrument is piano, and she is classically trained since 3. She only started to play guitar at 19. Swan Song with Chopin intro from this amazing concert truly highlights what Miyako brings to the table. ua-cam.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/v-deo.html
My all time favorite song, also played at this concert, is the Hammer of Wrath. They coupled The Awakening to this song to begin the encore set of this concert. ua-cam.com/video/otJZPUCwyOM/v-deo.html
And I cannot leave out Winds of Transylvania. Many will say do live as they are amazing live, but this is a rare instance where the studio version/music video is better. It was the opening for 6 of 12 episodes of an anime series. ua-cam.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/v-deo.html

I'm 77 and grew up with rock and roll from its beginnings. Saw all the great bands in the 1960s and 1970s but was never a fan of any particular band but once I heard Lovebites "Shadowmaker" back in the fall of 2017 I became an instant fan. I would give up having seen all the bands in the 60s and 70s for a ticket to a Lovebites' coincert,

@@skoob64 I've been to a lot of concerts. If I could jump through the screen and be at the Five of a Kind Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020 concert, my life would be complete. I've watched the concert several times in full, and I can say it's easily the best live recorded concert I've ever watched, and believe if I actually saw it live it would simply be the best concert I ever attended. You've been around longer than I, but here's a taste of concerts I've been to, metal or otherwise - Exodus, Slayer, Opeth, Meshuggah, Dimmu Borgir, Santana, ELP, Kansas, Styx, Bloodywood, Metallica, Tool, and many more.

There’s so much I could say about this band, but much has unbelievably already in minutes after your post. My request is a serious one to pick on 😮your experience. Let me just say it’s a surprise to a newcomer. The song is titled Swan Song; most importantly with the Chopin intro. These ladies are incredible and more diverse, at least in talent than many might expect. Enjoy
