corbettmaths.com/2013/05/11/surds/ without a calculator, it is common to leave answers in surd form. For instance if the two shorter sides were 7cm and 5cm, then 5 squared plus 7 squared is 74. So the answer would be root 74. Sometimes the surd simplifies and the video link I shared should help
