got mine yesterday. Absolutely love it as a student. Perfect for taking notes, listening to music, watching UA-cam, doing some document editing with the keyboard in google docs, and getting textbooks. Saves me so much space not having to carry around notebooks and sometimes even replaces my MacBook in my bag. Perfect deal. I had the iPad Pro 12.9 but ended up returning it because it was so expensive and overkill for my use case. iPad 9th generation keeps my bag lighter and my wallet heavier, the perfect combo. Apple really should be paying me to say all of this lol
@Antariksa hey! Honestly, I’ve used many different iPads for note taking, including both an 11 inch pro and a 12.9. Obviously, the note taking experience is better on the pros. However, you will not be disappointed with the experience on the 9th generation iPad. I really don’t notice too much of a difference with the laminated display, but I’m sure there are people who are more technical than I am. The note taking experience is perfectly fine and I’ve heard using a paper like screen protector makes it that much better, so that’s something you could look into as well (I’ve personally never used a paper like screen protector so I can’t really speak on them)
@Antariksa Yeah no problem! Also, do you mean you are replacing your laptop completely, or just going to use your iPad instead of laptop in most cases? I’m not sure I would replace your laptop with an iPad if you’re a student that writes a lot of papers or does anything in science. Writing research papers would not be fun on an iPad lol
@Antariksa Hello, just traded in my iPad Pro M1 12.9 for the 9th gen iPad. It does everything just as well. Only recommendation is get the icarez matte screen protector and it helps with the lamination. Wayyy more worth the money than the pro imo
Do you think apple pen 1 and 2 have huge difference? I am having trouble to which to choose bet ipad 9 or ipad air. I'll mostly use it for note taking and zoom meeting.
Funny how an iPad can be cheaper than an accessory. But I mean… it makes sense since it’s the cheapest iPad vs an accessory for the most expensive iPad.
Love the way the standard Ipad has aged like a fine wine. It still offers the best bang for the buck. It's the best investment in the tablet world for the everyday user. Love the way how Gary is all about the practicality ✌🏻
It’s so powerful even for users who want to use it for art and other creative tasks etc. it’s just a bit slower than the pro versions because of ram but honestly speaking it’s not even slow for most users. It’s perfect
Bought one today, it's does everything that the iPad air 4 can do that I bought for my significant other. Just missing USB c but it has 64GB storage!! . Plus for my fellow geeks it's way easier to repair yourself Incase you have a out of warranty oops. Can't believe how fast this thing is for this price for devs, students, engineers whatever , humans , aliens out there buy this !!! I tested it with procreate same layers available as the air. Notability works like a charm and even editing works great ! Remember this is the chip from the iphone 11 pro with more thermal capacity it's faster then all laptops in this price range !! ** This iPad gets 25 layers at resolution 3000 by 3000 at 300 DPI and the iPad air 4 gets 55 layers at that same resolution **
I was going to go with the pro model instead purchased the base ipad bcoz i only need it for reading and got the mac air.. Got my mac air but still waiting for the ipad
Honestly the A12 last year (from 2018 devices) was still very good. This iPad alongside 64GB base storage is truly a contender. Also, the SE2020 is smaller AND has the same SoC being an extra $70 more expensive. If I did not already have an iPad Pro from 2018 I would likely choose this iPad easily! I am hoping the iPad 10th gen has the redesign or at least gets USB-C
I put one of the stickers on my dog door to the backyard and it actually saved it from shattering when both of my dogs tried to go through at the same time. It _did_ break but the sticker kept it from breaking into more than 3 pieces.
Thank you for this video. I got mine 2 days ago and it’s still in the box. What more I would like to see is the following: 1. Using a pencil and clicking on stuff with it. 2. Taking notes and what program comes with IPAD to be utilized. 3. Saving docs and pics then retrieving all. 4. Using programs like note and pages. I’m more if a word and excel guy. 5. Moving around the IPAD with features that would be good for everyday usage. All of these would help a beginner like me snd will be appreciated. Thank you.
Having upgraded it from 8 to 9, if you don't need the camera quality you're fine sitting this one out. For most users, especially people like me who use it for work and content viewing, the difference in performance is negligible.
I just ordered this gen 9 with 256 gig to replace my gen 6 32 gig as I’ve just about filled up all usable memory in this 4 year old puppy , it’s been an excellent tablet and even after 4 years of daily use hours at a time this gen 6 still runs like a top! Oh and btw It’s nice n cool out at 8am and best time to mow that grass 🤩 😜
Love this Ipad!!! I’ve owned various Iphones and macs but never and Ipad and I just went for it this year. This will be my official ereader and streaming device, no social media apps on it. Also got the wifi 64gb version, no regrets. Love your videos man.
I'm relatively new to the Apple ecosystem, I still have one sticker somewhere, and one I stuck to my external SSD enclosure. Why? It seemed like a good spot for it I guess 🤷♂️
I was really back and forth in this and the new mini. The mini is great and I like the size but deciding I’m not paying more for less screen size. It’s still a great option though. That being said the base iPad does everything I’ll need to do with it which is just basic browsing so I’m not on my phone constantly straining myself lol. Can’t wait for it to show up.
This is BY FAR the best iPad value. To make it perfect, I would like to see a built-in kickstand and a magnetically attachable Smart Connector keyboard with trackpad for under $75.
I actually got my iPad 9th generation 64 gb last week and I am so loving it so much. I got it in the silver color. I even got a generic Apple Pencil that my sister bought me along with the iPad and a case for the iPad

Very seamless switchover from your studio audio to the iPad’s audio (and back). I do wish that every iPad had usb-c at this point. It’s a godsend for my iPad Pro.
Watching this vid on my new Gen 9. Replaced an Air 2 that I love and have had for many years. My spouse wants a mini 5 when we find some good deals now that the 6 is out. You don’t always have to have the newest with apple because they support their products for long time.
I have an Air 4 and I just bought this iPad gen 9 for my significant other. Absolutely can’t wait for it, it is completely usable and does everything it needs to do well.
have a retired neighbor who seems to wait until I arrive home from work at 3pm to begin the mowathon! off all day everyday and knows cant stand mowing sounds....kinda odd?
I got the exact same model yesterday. This is to replace my Air gen 1 ipad that i use with my keyboard rig. The Air is just getting a bit sluggish now. After only using 12.9 ipads as my daily iPad since 2015 it was a bit of a shock going to 10.2, but i really do love it, and its really only going to sit on my keyboard stand most of the time and get used a few times a month. I may be imagining it but apps seem to download and open faster than on my 2020 ipad pro 12.9. Only slight negative was when i first heard music coming out if it, but i didnt get it for that so its no big deal. All in all, im 100% happy with it, especially for the price. Glad i held out and didnt get the 7 or 8 as i planned to. Oh, and i never Face time or use iPad cameras, but i guess its nice to have them in case i do.
I went to an apple store and looked at all iPad's screens for about half an hour. The only one that had whites that actually looked white was the iPad 8 (they did not have the iPad 9). Both iPad air 4 and iPad Pro looked yellow, even when I changed all those True Tone settings. ProMotion is awesome on the iPad Pros, but it's not worth the price difference
The base iPad is still such a good value, however, I would say that I think I will hold out until it supports the 2nd Apple Pencil to get one for myself. I will get one for my parents though!
Just purchased this gen 9 iPad on line from Apple. Will receive about the middle of January 2022. How difficult to transfer my data from my iPad mimi2 to this new unit. I am not a strong techie at 68 years old. Thanks. Very good video.
The only thing keeping me from getting this is not the fact that it does not have a laminated screen, I can live with that. Its no stereo speakers. I mean, that's annoying for me. Really annoying.

Mine finally got here a couple of weeks ago. Did the Apple trade in program and upgraded to an iPad 9th and traded in an Ipad 6th. For the difference of $179.00, it was a no brainer.
*I wish you would have done an accessories fit comparison between the previous model and the new. For example, how well does the old cases and keyboard fit with the new Ipad 9th gen.*

I'm gonna buy an ipad for the first time but I can't decide between the iPad 9th gen and iPad Air. The iPad air is a year old and doesn't have features like center stage whereas the 9th gen has thick bezels but is value for money. Is it really worth spending those extra few hundred dollars for the Air from a student's perspective? A video regarding this would really help.
just caught you (first time), just got my gen 9, waited almost one month for it, excited after watching your vid! just subscribed, thanks! i gotta go at it and start having fun!
I just picked up mine today from Best Buy and I absolutely love it! I ordered it off of Best Buy over Apple because with Apple it's reaching some time in January and I need it for school. From a student, it is absolutely perfect from the size to the design. Highly recommended!
omg i just saw your video about ipad 9, and i still in the phase of back n forth between the 9 and mini.. but your details point while we are using it in daily basis is wow... so relatable, the setting of zoom meeting and the charger of ipad can be used for iphone too 💯 it is really on point. good luck on your channel 👍🏻 hi from indonesia
Hey Gary! Fun unboxing/ first impressions video as usual. I used sticker from my MacBook to stick on an HP laptop‘s logo once. Actually fooled people into thinking the office had somehow granted me a MacBook a couple of times.
Went with the silver 64gb. Played around with it last night, the True Tone display definitely helped scrolling through in bed. Does everything a tablet should do, the air-gap of the non laminated display is looks fine to me with the all black bezels, saves money on repairing broken screens or whatever Apple claims. batterylife on these basic iPads tend to be excellent so no surprise there. My older 7th gen ipad Smart folio keyboard and Apple Smart Cover both fit this 9th gen the exact same, no issue there. The new centerstage selfie camera is really nice, like better than my older iphone XR. I'd honestly recommend this new iPad 9th gen if you facetime or video call alot. Speakers are stereo, but only come from the side near the charging port, that's my only negative about this iPad.
@@ralphraymondcervantes921 Just tried it, Centerstage Selfie Camera works for both Zoom and Google Meets in the Apple App form. I don’t know if the website version will work for it, but downloading the dedicated Zoom and Google Meets apps from the Apple App Store had Centerstage as the default camera 👍
I just got my 8th gen back in july. Getting bitter feelings..that I should've waited 😅 but the thing that's keeping me sane is I got that for 250 bucks😅😂. I'm not a heavy gamer guy...so the processor wouldn't make much difference for me.💁♂️😀
@@Lanerusher Selfie camera from 8th gen to 9th gen is 1.2MP 720p to 12MP 1080P. That's a very significant change to me. But if you never videocall, processing power is just slightly better.
Personally, I use the apple stickers and put them on external batteries that I use to charge other devices... or the back of my office chair or even on my PC
Please do a video on the apple pencil gen 1 accessory and how its working is different from the apple pencil 2nd gen which is used with the other apple tablets. Thanks!
Ik I’m not him, but in terms of tablets honestly I’d stick with the Apple ones. They get the same amount of updates as the phones and the quality control compared to android is a bit better. Unless you really don’t like Apple, then go for the Xiomi mi pad 5 and see what they have for you.
@@aqeelslife7333 hm…I don’t have this specific model myself, however my sister had the older Gen of this model. Did the job for her and was quite good. I’m sure this model with the updated specs and better storage will be great. I will recommend you watch as many reviews and unboxings as you can on both devices. So that you’re fully informed on your decision. Edit: I do think from experience and knowledge the iPad is quite fast. With model they put in the iPhone 11’s processor and that was quite good
@@aqeelslife7333 the iPad is plenty fast. Here’s my take. If you plan on using the tablet for one or one a half years the mi pad is fine as that’s how long it’ll probably be supported with actual updates. But the iPad can easily get you through 4 to 5 years plus more apps are optimized for iPads than the android tablets as apple has a smaller line up It’s easy for app developers to optimize it.

I hope since next year is the 10 th anniversary apple will remove the home button and make the base ipad have the new looks like the pro air and mini
omg i just saw your video about ipad 9, and i still in the phase of back n forth between the 9 and mini.. but your details point while we are using it in daily basis is wow... so relatable, the setting of zoom meeting and the charger of ipad can be used for iphone too 💯 it is really on point. good luck on your channel 👍🏻 hi from indonesia
Gary, king of the base model iPad.
Hey Gary! Fun unboxing/ first impressions video as usual. I used sticker from my MacBook to stick on an HP laptop‘s logo once. Actually fooled people into thinking the office had somehow granted me a MacBook a couple of times.
I really want it but I just HATE the black lines like the screen outlines
i saw a car covered in lots of old and new apple stickers
i hope the 10th gen gets a laminated display.
May I ask if centerstage feature is working in google meet?
@@ralphraymondcervantes921 Just tried it, Centerstage Selfie Camera works for both Zoom and Google Meets in the Apple App form. I don’t know if the website version will work for it, but downloading the dedicated Zoom and Google Meets apps from the Apple App Store had Centerstage as the default camera 👍
I’m really happy with my iPad Mini 6, little powerhouse of usefulness for me, does all that my iPad Pro did, loving it! 👍🏻👌🏻😊 UK
That camera is pretty good. Luck of usb 3 port and weight puts me of this one but still would have bought it for kid or grandpa.
I use those stickers. I'm in love with them.
Do 8th vs 9th gen.
Is it really a significant upgrade in terms of processing power
You get double the storage for the base model :)
And Better front camera
I just got my 8th gen back in july.
Getting bitter feelings..that I should've waited 😅
but the thing that's keeping me sane is I got that for 250 bucks😅😂.
I'm not a heavy gamer guy...so the processor wouldn't make much difference for me.💁♂️😀
@@ShivamSingh-xf8nb upgrade if you want more storage, if not there’s not any significant changes
@@Lanerusher Selfie camera from 8th gen to 9th gen is 1.2MP 720p to 12MP 1080P. That's a very significant change to me. But if you never videocall, processing power is just slightly better.
Laptop cover and fridge for the stickers
Not the neighbor mowing the yard 🤣
the lack of usb-c and no apple pencil 2 kills it for me
I used the stickers and I put them at the back of my iPad case
I use the sticker to cover the ring left from the MagSafe on my case 😀
Don’t need it , but I bought it yesterday because it’s a great value and I love the larger display
I’m getting my 10.2 inch iPad 9th generation on 16 March and it has my name on it AYYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAAYYAYAYAYAYYAYAYYAYAYAYAYYAYAYAYYAYAY
I’d love to see how the 9th gen compares to the Air 4. Been meaning to buy one, and I can’t seem to decide which to get
@@lifeisshørt_420 hey can you help me too? i wanna use ipad for gaming and for schools,is it the ipad 9th worth for me?
@@lifeisshørt_420 alright, thank you for the explanation ❤️,really helps for me
Is it Worth buying beside a computer?
Personally, I use the apple stickers and put them on external batteries that I use to charge other devices... or the back of my office chair or even on my PC
Please do a video on the apple pencil gen 1 accessory and how its working is different from the apple pencil 2nd gen which is used with the other apple tablets. Thanks!
Good presentation. Thanks
Been waiting for this!!!
Why do they make it thicker when it’s possible since 8 years to made it like the air? Mystery
Hey everyday dad could you recommend me which tablet I should purchase among these 2:
iPad 9
Xioami mi pad 5
Thanks!
Ik I’m not him, but in terms of tablets honestly I’d stick with the Apple ones. They get the same amount of updates as the phones and the quality control compared to android is a bit better. Unless you really don’t like Apple, then go for the Xiomi mi pad 5 and see what they have for you.
@@A.The.H. thank for you reply if so have you Tried and iPad and is it stuck or normal or fast thanks 😊
@@lifeisshørt_420 same I’m an android user but I would never buy an android tablet as of now.
I put the Apple Sticker on my Windows Galaxy Book Pro 360 to remind me of my MacBook Air when I am forced to use windows, ha ha
