I plan to replace my iPad Pro with a Surface Pro 11 OLED model when 5G becomes available later this year. It has double the CPU and GPU performance of the Windows Dev Kit with its Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 processor, so everything I run on the Dev Kit will run with ease on the Surface Pro 11. If you want a competitively priced x64 Windows Tablet which can also game, the Minisforum V3 tablet with Ryzen 7 8840U processor, 32GB RAM and 1TB storage is exceptionally good. ARM adoption is the question. Won't be like Mac, where it was mandatory because the original Intel based hardware was just ended. I have the SP9, and had the SP2017 before that and every Surface before that right back to the RT. I can say with confidence that the Surface Pro has the best speakers of any Windows tablet. I can also say that I have watched many, many Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ and Sky series and movies with speakers and on Bluetooth headphones. I find the Surface PixelSense screen to be excellent. Really good. Immersive and allows you to just get lost in the content. Is it better than iPad? No. However, I am never really watching a film and comparing it to an iPad next to my SP9. I never find myself saying ...Those blacks in that scene on my Surface were just not black enough. The difference that is possible by having an OLED screen is real and I bet they are significant but is it possible, easy and most importantly CHEAPER to watch content on the Surface Pro with the non-OLED screen? YES. The non-OLED screen is the same one as on the SP8, 9, and 10. I have been watching UA-cam on it today and looking for any challenges. I got so into the content that I forgot to watch for pixels-I had to go back and watch again haha. So YES - it is great for movies and shows. Absolutely great. At least in my use... It has been great. I am picky... I do pixel peep and don't like it when colour banding appears ... On this device - I just don't get that. Everything is smooth, clear and immersive.
Good review thanks for posting it - I am writing this comment with a Surface Pro 8 which has also surprised me with how good it is at times. What kind of battery life do you get with the lighter tasks (youtube, docs, emails)? Have seen some say that the battery life on this is not actually that good and is about the same as older models which I find hard to believe vs other reviews saying other things... Also, how was the video editing performance with da vinci resolve on it? Seen some positive comments and some negative ones on the snapdragons generally though my thinking is that the mainly negative ones were with da vinci resolve 19 for ARM still in beta...

I'm planning to buy the Surface Pro with cellular connectivity. Are there any models out with built-in cellular antennas? Or anything coming in the future?
Honestly how is this MORE expensive than the previous gen release? They switch to an unproven chip from a company than has only done mobile chips before, never chips for full PCs (which these tablets are supposed to be). I wouldn't spend $1000 for the basic version, let alone $1500. This should be $900 for the 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM versions.
i was going to buy a microsoft surface rather than buy a laptop but based on my experience with windows based laptops and tablets i decided to go for the samsung tab S9 uotra as its more than capable of doing what i want it and need it to do
When was any technology perfect? When was any technology made for everyone? If any technology was deemed perfect, then why release upgrades at all? It's always been about use case. Any judgement immediately changes based on a person's use case so the statement of "Surface is not really a good tablet/Surface is not really a good laptop" is idiocy to me. The metric changes wildly depending on who you ask and what they're doing. When you're on the go and need to do real work, running desktop class applications with a desktop class OS and you want a device that's more lightweight and has touch support by default, Surface is hard to beat. iPads can't run desktop software and MacBooks don't support touch screens at all. So, WTF?
No, just had to return mine, had it for 2 days, the X Elite version, and it was headache after headache barely 5 minutes in. I even called Microsoft Support for the first time in my life because I was so amazed at how bad this was. Apparently the calendar app does not work with ARM yet? Oh and neither does Microsoft OneNote? Apparently Microsoft XPS Writer also is not updated to work on ARM? And PowerPoint is also not fully optimized to run on ARM? And I have to use the old Outlook? Oh wait, what? Neither Outlooks are fully ready on ARM? And then I went to download some typical programs I use and here we go, nothing is made for ARM. And if it is, there's warnings left and right that ARM isn't the primary development focus so will likely be in a less stable state. From AWS, to Slack, to development environments, you can't work on this thing, you can't microsoft office on this thing, you can't do ANYTHING on this thing. And wait it gets better, MS support said they know that the entire Microsoft Office suite has a myriad of issues on ARM, and they basically told me that it's new and future updates would improve usability. (I don't have time for that) This is like, a 2004 Apple MacOS experience, the only things that have a chance to work are Microsoft apps, and even those that work, do so rather poorly. And third party apps are few and far between, and essentially is a glorified web browser and word processing machine. I returned that thing and got a Surface Pro 10 Business Edition with Intel CPU, it just works.
@@justSTUMBLEDupon it “works” but is not full featured, things like embedding PDFs into OneNote won’t work because they would use Microsoft XPS printer to “print” the pdf/pptx file into OneNote, so because Microsoft XPS Writer isn’t yet updated to work on ARM, this feature does not work The surface pro 10 business with an Intel processor has been wonderful, does everything my old Surface Pro did but faster and with more RAM, which is literally all I needed!

Seeing a review of someone that loves the Surface Pro for finally becoming what it was designed to do, makes me SO wish Microsoft would bring back the Surface Book and put the SD X Elite in it! This would finally realize what the Surface Book was meant to be (even more than the Surface Pro IMO). Just think about it?!? A full and proper laptop that you could detach to become an awesome, no-compromise tablet! The problem w/ the Surface Book was always having to use a x86 mobile processor in the screen half; weak processing w/ not great battery. Not so if the X Elite is used. The Surface Book design coupled w/ the X Elite would be jackpot for Microsoft!
The Surface Book is my all-time favorite computer I've ever used. I had the SB1 and 2. The 2 was in the 15" version and I absolutely loved having essentially a full-on laptop most of the time, and a 15" tablet for going through/marking up budget PDFs and documents when I needed it. I've gone the Mac and iPad Pro M2 route now, with the iPad frustrating me on a regular basis.. but I'd come back in a heartbeat for a new Surface Book.
@@CinimodMG I had the SB1 w/ performance base. And yep, hands down easily my all-time favorite computer. Even upgraded it to W11 (although W10 tablet mode is still superior to W11). Had to move on to the Surface Laptop Studio 2 when the SB1's batteries gave out. The SLS2 is nice and gives me all the postures I want, but I would take a Surface Book w/ X Elite over it any day.
I am a long time iPad & Mac user. That being said, I have used a Surface Pro for work. The build quality is terrible. They do not last. I went through two of them. So, my work bought me a MacBook. The build quality is light years ahead of the Microsoft offering. This is true of the iPad too - superior compared to the Surface.
This is not a fair comparison. For laptop comparison, Surface laptop and MacBook is a more fair comparison as they both function as a laptop. Whereas the iPad and Surface Pro are more two in one devices to be used as a laptop and a tablet.
very familiar with Surface. in no way can i ever consider it a tablet. it is a 2 in 1 detachable with touch screen. “tablet mode” in windows is just a no. i love surface products though.
It's the reason I specifically want a dedicated tablet device. The finger gestures do not respond consistently and have to repeat multiple times. Not many apps are optimized for the tablet mode eithet to integrate finger gestures. Even the responsiveness/latency in tablet mode is not as fluid as compared to traditional tablets. The form factor is also a bit too large to use one handed. Overall the iPad and Galaxy Tab tablet experience is night and day compared to the Surface Pro.
or, OR, hear me out, maybe wait a few months till intel launch their new ''efficient'' lunar chips and compare if there is enough between them to tip the scale to one side.
What's the os like on one of these? I owned a PC last year and simply transferring video clips from Nintendo switch was like trying to operate a rocket ship. I'm not kidding. I'm smarter than most people according to the people who test for those sorts of things, I was a teacher, and during those years I was always using computers and constantly was paid to learn all that stuff, so naturally I took the classes to learn those windows programs but I can't turn some of the pcs off and on I've purchased and returned because they were trash, and all used windows 11. I'm thinking I'd like to edit videos but Microsoft isn't user friendly at all and I'm hoping this will improve soon.
I'm a consumer who speaks their mind, most people would eat shit on a stick if you told them it's delicious. Nobody likes using Microsoft, I'm telling you, I can't figure out why Microsoft hasn't gotten this right yet. They've made it worse and worse as they loose touch with their customer base in exchange for fake news about their products.

Seen some positive comments and some negative ones on the snapdragons generally though my thinking is that the mainly negative ones were with da vinci resolve 19 for ARM still in beta...
man you godot icon on desktop give me some confidence to purchase one
Why? 😂
@@JustinDhananjaya work in game industry, wanna run some game engine. I know that unreal support apple silicon but cant run nanite until m2 chips. So if he can run godot at least it means i can do some basic dev on this machine
Thanks for this!
I'm planning to buy the Surface Pro with cellular connectivity. Are there any models out with built-in cellular antennas? Or anything coming in the future?
2:28 don't be so harsh on yourself we all make occasional mistakes like that
Thank you for the vid, thoughts on how this would compare to the Lenovo thinkpad X12?
yeah I had to send it back also, couldn't run AWS Workspaces therefore couldn't use it for work.
Hiya! Saw WoW for a second! Would you say the battery life is good while playing it?
Does this support photoshop? Or how blender runs on it nobody talking about that!
Honestly how is this MORE expensive than the previous gen release? They switch to an unproven chip from a company than has only done mobile chips before, never chips for full PCs (which these tablets are supposed to be). I wouldn't spend $1000 for the basic version, let alone $1500. This should be $900 for the 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM versions.
i was going to buy a microsoft surface rather than buy a laptop but based on my experience with windows based laptops and tablets i decided to go for the samsung tab S9 uotra as its more than capable of doing what i want it and need it to do
Can it run Autocad, and grammerly?
Most likely no to autocad. You can check the site to see if it works on ARM
Grammerly is browser based so it should work
When was any technology perfect? So, WTF?
They got the dual monitor setup right the first try! (on ARM). Meanwhile, crap Apple limits M1 chips to one external monitor.
(I don't have time for that)
This is like, a 2004 Apple MacOS experience, the only things that have a chance to work are Microsoft apps, and even those that work, do so rather poorly. And third party apps are few and far between, and essentially is a glorified web browser and word processing machine.
I returned that thing and got a Surface Pro 10 Business Edition with Intel CPU, it just works.
Hold on…. The main reason I wanted this was for OneNote and it doesn’t even work on the tablet? SMH
I haven’t heard any reviewer talk about this though
@@justSTUMBLEDupon it “works” but is not full featured, things like embedding PDFs into OneNote won’t work because they would use Microsoft XPS printer to “print” the pdf/pptx file into OneNote, so because Microsoft XPS Writer isn’t yet updated to work on ARM, this feature does not work
The surface pro 10 business with an Intel processor has been wonderful, does everything my old Surface Pro did but faster and with more RAM, which is literally all I needed!
@@justSTUMBLEDuponworks for me
Yeah, I don't want a phone cpu on my work laptop... I'm going to get a SP10 too
Have you run Davinci Resolve on it yet? How does it go?
As I had to buy a 2 in 1 PC, I took this one but I'm still figuring out how correct my choice was.
in 2024 every device is great for gaming...cloud gaming...on my xps 9500 geforce now 4k ....gaming is just ...beautiful :) inlcude this in your future reviews....
I just need an 11inch version and I’m totally buying
Why would you want such a small tablet?
Me too!
WE WANT SNAPDRAGON ELITE IN SURFACE GO!
Microsoft is bringing Arm to the Surface Go. The barrier right now is cost.
@@bricequirl they better hurry up because it's been ages. They could pursue a strategy of using previous gen Arm chips like SQ1 in the Go line without cannibalising their other products
@@tech-tok2973 Right, I'd guess this fall, maybe with the Snapdragon X Plus processor to keep the cost down. It would be a shame if MS waits until this spring, when ARM-based Gos would have to compete with Lunar or Arrow Lake-based Surface Pros.
You know how you did the switch to samsung thing. Can you do a switch to Google pixel thing.
How did you connect the surface pro to monitor? I been getting feedback that it only display 30hz
Ur right, except that x64 sucks at compatibility
Have you been able to try Davinci Resolve 19 out of beta? How is it going? Is it usable with something like 4K 30? Thanks!
@@CinimodMG
I had the SB1 w/ performance base.
@@baihuiye iPad is a glorified tablet
Is samsung better? Like seriously... i just got the book 4 pro 360, should i return and buy this instead?
Can you use Adobe Illustrator on the Surface Pro 11?
I have the Pro 9 and was going to upgrade but my favorite art app isn't upgraded to work on it (and probably won't be) so I'm stuck.
I am going to study Informatics is this laptop good enough?
Hey! Can you do a video about why you have changed where you do your videis and studio behind the scenes type video?
how did you get the keyboard to work when detached?
very familiar with Surface. in no way can i ever consider it a tablet. it is a 2 in 1 detachable with touch screen.
Hey I fund it in a big trash can and what tablet do I need
Where did you get the computer at 2:54

Getting a masters degree in what?
or, OR, hear me out, maybe wait a few months till intel launch their new ''efficient'' lunar chips and compare if there is enough between them to tip the scale to one side.
I want this but I love procreate. What do I do?
Is it possible to downgrade to Windows 10 ?
Surface pro screen istol small so I went with the Lenovo Yoga copilot laptop. Love it and especially the battery life. Great video.
surface pro 11 can install metatrader 5?
The tablet mode and apps on windows products are pretty much suck though.
I still have a Surface 3, and the battery is prob on its way out lol. I'll prob get one of these Pro 11 in a year or so
Can t use google drive tho and other simple apps, so for me it s a dealbreaker
I never use Google Drive desktop client to be fair. Use the web version. Remember last year their desktop client had a bug that deleted user files
@@KazrBrekker that’s only the tip of the iceberg

Nope, never buying Windows again. Their QA is god awful.
No headphone jack, no usb, no expandable storage, poor battery life in real world usage, plus poor x86 app support. This actually is a bad device. It's actually much worse than a surface pro 7
i have matte screen protector film on my surface pro 7. game changer. good for glare, fingerprints and drawing on. honestly, i see no real world difference between this and the older surface pros other than no headphone jack, no usb port and the same battery life. oh and ai which i have no interest in using. oh i can use x86 apps.

Like, come on we all know you're exaggerating windows battery life. I can sit through a 4 hour zoom class and then do 5 hours of homework in Catia on my Flow X13 and still have 20% battery left. Unfortunately; it runs Windows, which has become a total mess with pop -up ads and is nothing more than malware software in my humble opinion.
Fortunately you can disable them using third party tools. There are video guides on UA-cam too so it is not much of a problem.
I run windows daily on multiple machines and I haven't seen pop-up ads or anything like that. Yes, ms does annoying stuff (around edge and start menu) but no pop-ups. Maybe it's because I'm in the EU...
@@KazrBrekker I agree, but it shouldn't have to be that way.
