I don’t care what anyone says. For me personally, an average iPad user. I don’t regret trading in my m1 iPad Pro for the Mini 7. I have a MacBook Air M1 for other tasks. I do not miss my iPad Pro at all. I do hope Apple listens to us Mini lovers and upgrade the items you went over in your vid. I truly agree!
Spot on. There will never be, nor should there be an iPad Mini Pro. Use the right device for what you need it for; a Mini is all about portability, not pro level usage.
I 100% agree with you. The only thing I REALLY would like to have seen was a brighter display. I think even a “average user” would appreciate that. Otherwise, it’s acceptable for my use cases.
Watching this on my mini 7. Whilst other you tubers may complain it does not have oled or an M chip, they may forget that said chip may cause heating issues in a smaller tablet. The A17 pro chip may be a better choice for the mini as it is in a larger body than the 15 pro, which suffered from heating issues. Apple maybe not please everybody but if they keep the majority happy…..
I love your videos but this is the typical post release fan boi justification my friend. Your core premise is absolutely correct, this is not a computer replacement. Your points about Magic Keyboard? Spot on. But let’s talk about features that are strictly related to a consumption device. Like you I own both an iPad Pro 13 inch and an iPad Mini. 1. Brighter display? I would suggest this device is 10 times more likely to be used outside with screen facing the sky than an iiPad 13 Pro. A brighter display is MORE important on this device. 2. Amoled. Not only is amoled a “consumption” feature, it makes a device WAY thinner and lighter. Big advantage as a handheld device. 3. Bezels? I have a Galaxy Fold too. I have no noticeable advantage holding the Mini with its massive bezels than my open fold. All of the above features make the Fold a far superior consumption device. If it ran iPad OS as a non-Folding tablet is would be MUCH BETTER than an iPad Mini. The only reason I own the Mini is I just like certain iPad only app, and the ecosystem. And Samsung has made oled mini tablets too in the past. I think they stopped only to promote the higher dollar Fold series.
Spot on! Thanks for a clear and interesting video. I use 11” and 13” iPad pros and they rarely leave the Magic Keyboard. The mini, is light, small and a great content consumption device. I tried a keyboard case with it, and whilst it was well designed. And usable,it made the mini too bulky and heavy. It made me realise, the points you make -it’s meant to be a light, portable, entertainment device with some limited work functionality. So I stopped trying to make it a shrunken pro device, and just a reading, movie and note device and it’s perfect. Thanks for encapsulating the reality of its best uses.
The main uses of a mini are usually: 1) watch/read content 2) portable note taking/sketch I’d say is reasonable for people’s to want oled or pro motion for such purposes; keyboard maybe is ridiculous for that size but the latter two are relevant, that is why phones all come with those specs even when they are even smaller than an iPad mini
Yes I agree with you. Not all users need the big screen Pro iPads. IPad Mini 7 is just perfect for the ultimate portable content consumption. Each iPads are made specific for certain tasks.
in 3 years time, apple will have no other choice than to put the 120hz on all their devices. They will have to come up with something to try to sell the ipad pro. Even $100 phones come with 120hz display now
I definitely agree with you. I would love the Pro features, but this device is just not meant for that. With the size, you’re really not going to be doing the same tasks you would do on the iPad Pro. Great video!
Same. I’m actually downsizing to a Mini from my 11 inch iPad Pro. I only do light photo processing and this M2 chip is more for video editing (which I have done, and is awesome) but these days I’m more likely to use my desktop with 27” monitor if I’m at home, which is most of the time.
I love this device. It goes with me everywhere and I can do anything I need on it. I even use it to edit video on the go as well as using all the obvious stuff. If I need to do bigger things at home I use my MacBook Air
For the 2000s I rocked an ASUS EeePC 2G Surf with a 16GB SD card and a full install of Slackware Linux to keep my Unix skills sharp until I could get another Mac. I fell in love with my iPad mini with Retina display (iPad mini 2) because it was the perfect size for me. Big enough but NEVER too big, CRAZY portable, it even fit in my jacket pocket (just like my EeePC did). When the physical home button on it broke, the iPad mini 6 was already long in the tooth so I waited for the next gen. I was really looking forward to USB-C and hoping against hope for Apple Pencil Pro support. No I didn't really expect that. For me this IS the iPad mini Pro. I don't notice the display issues people complained about on the 6 and the bezels actually feel a bit small to me. The first bluetooth keyboard I got for my original iPad mini was a piano keyboard. I only recently got a typewriter-style bluetooth I can use with my mini but I haven't even though to try them together yet. Typing on the mini is just fine. I got mine with the max half a terabyte storage (twice what I had on my original mini) because I'm using it mostly as a media player and have it loaded up with music, podcasts, books, magazines, comic books and movies. Hey, they've gotta keep a few goodies on the shelf for the future improvements.
I was debating between IPad Mini 7 and iPad Air 11-inch. I decided to go with the iPad Air that gives me that standard iPad with advance feature including Apple Intelligence, M2 chip and Magic Keyboard support which gives iPad Air long lasting usage than the iPad Mini
New iPad mini user here. 🙋♂️ The one thing that really bothered me is the size of widgets vs icons and basically almost every other ui element. Widgets and specially text inside are tiny. It’s almost like Apple took iPhone widgets as-is and mixed with icons and the rest from larger iPads and combined them to make the mini’s ui. Very poor execution IMO. And this is all software and could be fixed but Apple is not really investing into making the mini work better, compared to other iPad models.
Think it is a great device apart from its slight shortfalls. As for productivity it could be connected to a monitor if needed for a kind of mini office setup even though only mirroring the iPad and only two apps side by side maybe not ideal but at least and option. Great and informative video.
ipad mini is my favorite ipad of all time, just traded my 11" pro to the new mini and it fells incredible 🎉 but i agree, oled display and 120hz should be perfect for this kind of things lol
Honestly the only reason why I want a iPad Mini Pro is because it will be cheaper than the current iPad Pros are. Though because iPads are meant to be bigger than your phones I do not mind too much if they never make it. However what I really do wish they do make is a iPhone Mini Pro because similar reason to why I want a iPad Mini Pro because it will be cheaper than the other Pro but in the iPhone case I have a more practical reasoning because my hands are quite small and the regular iPhone Pro just fits my hands so ideally I want a smaller version of the Pro iPhones so I can still get Pro features while having a phone that fits comfortably in my hands.
Does it need to be a mini Pro? No. But cheaper Android tablets have had OLED screens for 10 years. I don’t care about “muh bezels.” 90Hz would be nice, but it doesn’t change the user experience at the end of the day. But OLED is practically ancient at this point. And this is not a budget device. OLED would, in fact, change how you use this device. For instance, reading books with “dark mode” or inverted colours, would be so much easier on the eyes that it may even be better than using a Kindle.
And here we have the pro version of the iPhone, which is 2 inches smaller than the iPad mini. The iPhone Pro features ProMotion technology. Your statement that the iPad mini's screen is too small for the display technology doesn't make sense. I hope Apple releases an iPad mini Pro.
This basically comes down to a battery which is small. Bigger phone model for example has a bigger battery so it can be a pro model. iPad mini is still in development to have a smaller battery that can last. They haven’t mastered a battery yet that can handle pro things. It’s in development. To prove this the Pro Pencil is now on iPad mini. It’s in the development. It’s meant to be used for everything. I make millions on the iPad mini now in a day using it. They want it to be more than content garbage device. Apple innovates like I do. They think ahead and want to get rid of MacBook eventually and transition everyone to iPad and sell you a keyboard. MacBook becomes piece of glass. Like nobody uses dvds anymore it’s digital
Unfortunately for us tech enthusiasts, you’re 100% right. I’m a pastor and I mainly use my iPad to preach from on Sunday. My only real hope for the mini 7 was that the bezels would shrink so we could get a larger screen in the same form factor. It would have been perfect for me then. As it stands, I’m still using a standard iPad.
Accessories I use:
ESR iPad mini folio: amzn.to/47PwAfE
Matte glass screen protector: amzn.to/4e28ijK

Glad you’re enjoying the Mini! It’s truly a great device for the right person. Hope Apple listens to the upgrades we want!
4:38 a 90 hz display would be a solid improvement
Spot on. There will never be, nor should there be an iPad Mini Pro. Use the right device for what you need it for; a Mini is all about portability, not pro level usage.
Yes 👍🏼

Spot on. A ProMotion display & FaceID should be a must on a device like this and at this price.
9:58 it might be able to be semi pro if they shrink the bezels a bit mire increasing screen real estate
Watching from my iPad mini ❤ most fun ipad ever

Great video! ❤
Nice video and great content as always, I love my mini and I wouldn’t change that 😊
I love my iPad mini with Apple intelligence. Perfect for on the go and letting my phone charge at night will I play on the mini.
Watching from my iPad Mini 7 and loving it! Awesome tablet as is. I just wish we could get the audio jack back.
I'm not asking for an iPad mini Pro. I want an iPad mini with a better screen & FaceID. There's no need for an M-series processor.
Same. I’m actually downsizing to a Mini from my 11 inch iPad Pro. I only do light photo processing and this M2 chip is more for video editing (which I have done, and is awesome) but these days I’m more likely to use my desktop with 27” monitor if I’m at home, which is most of the time.
Although I am kind of shocked that there is not an M “Mini” processor STRICTLY for marketing purposes.
@@soculese the iPad mini doesn't have the thermal capacity for an M-processor

logical analysis, wish that was more common on this platform.
I love iPad for being iPad

It doesn’t really make sense, they just don’t have enough competition to justify upgrades.
Should be:
mini, air 11, air 13
Mini pro, 11 pro, 13 pro
I only want to have a Nano-Textured Option for the Display.
You can get the matte tempered glass screen protector I have the link in the description and you’ll get the same result
Out does m1 processor

IPad minihas a faster processor than m1
