I had the topaz orange bike that he mentioned here that went for $12k....wow. I should have kept mine. Dad bought it new for $349 plus tax in April of 1971. It was sold in 74 for $150. Had a few dings on it, but was in good shape. I'd love to own another one. I'm 66 now. I was 13 when I got mine. Had a lot of good times riding...great memories.
I still have mine. It was used when I got it in the 80s. It's orange with the 4 seed. A lot of great memories. My cousin had a 3speef blue one. It Hasn't ran in ages & needs tlc. I think about pulling it out & getting her going again, but it's never made it to the front burner!!! PEACE!
I had an XR75 ...good bike. The I got a YZ80..then a KX80! The '85 KX80 was heads & shoulders above all else. The YZ80 was very old tho! I'm a YAMAHA & Kawasaki guy to this day.
@@Davido50 We had an old retired man named Mr Taylor who fixed lawnmowers, motorcycles, small engine repair. He had a YZ 80 and a couple Sears mini bikes he'd let us borrow while he fixed ours. That thing would fly, he had bored it out and tuned perfectly. We had it made but didn't know it. Wish I could turn back the clock.
I remember Joel, same in my neighbor hood all the kids who had briggs& stratton mini bikes rolled into ct's or sl's in the early 70's. Great memories too 🤝
I remember taking my 1st motorcycle driving test on a CT70H in 1972, all that was required by the CA DMV back then was that the bike being used had to have a manual clutch. The rest is history some 50 years later! I will be 65 this summer. Cool survivor bike pictured here!
Oh, man. That takes me back. My dad got me a green one of those when I was 8 back in 89. I remember him fixing it up and being so excited. I put a lot of hours on that thing.
I had one when I was a kid 1980 and I remember I could get a top speed of 25mph. I had the 3 speed auto. I used to jump the bike in a field where there was a berm. Field is gone now, there's a BIGO tire shop and gas station. Fill that baby gas tank for under a dollar back in 1980 Lol. Memories.
My first motorcycle was a yellow Honda 50 with the folding handlebars. It was bulletproof...never any problems with it. My Dad gave to a friend of his and then bought me a silver XR 75. From there I traded up to a Honda MR 175. Love your channel...it's brought back so many great memories.
Wanted to thank you Ken.. Sitting in Daytona for the first time! Heading to the Monster supercross tonight. Having the best vacation of my life.! Took you advice and you were right
I love Daytona, been going every year since for many decades. Aunt Catfish is a great place to eat at. I highly recommend Ocean deck also. Down the Hatch at Inlet Harbor was excellent for many years and then took a downhill turn but seems to be doing good again. A lot of Daytona race car drivers have been there and left autographed pictures. Watch the boats come in as the sun sets and listen live music that is usually really good.
That is the first bike I ever owned, same year, color and all. My dad got it from a co-worker in the mid 90's and got it running for me to learn to ride. Starting with a clutch straight away was the best thing I could have done. never had to struggle learning it later like my friends did. Gave it away year's later to a friend once the engine was worn out. Had I known how rare these would become, especially the H models, I would have kept it! Couldn't give these away in the 90's when I was growing up. Crazy how things change.
Ken show the folks how the handlebars fold down for shipping or a trip in the trunk of a car. Fuel shuts off and i remember mine didnt leak when it got a ride to the cotttage in the trunk of moms car. This bike was my 2nd motorcycle after my Z-50A mini trail got stolen. Love your videos btw....great memories of my Trail 70. 51 years later and im riding an FZ-1 Yamaha....once you get motorcycling in your blood....its there forever !! Love what you folks do at the New England Motorcycle Museum !!
Hey folks, this is Carl your New England Motorcycle Museum Curator.. Normally I would have much more to say, but for this I have only 2 words... MUSEUM QUALITY!!
How it all started for me in 1974. Still have my ct70hko from many years. Restored it in 1999 original paint candy topaz orange. My neighbor got a xr 75 in 74 was a game changer but the ct lasted the test of time.I still have two 80cc poweroll kits I never used ,ha ha
My first bike was a 1970 trail 70 orange. I believe the year was 1982, fun bike every kid in the neighborhood crashed it learning to ride, kept on going. I think because most crashes took place in 1st gear it saved it.
I still have tons and tons of little Honda 90CC and below parts but nothing is more convenient than having tons of Honda 70 parts 😵💫 Love these little pumpers
This was the very first dirt bike that I have ever owned I had the Honda trail 70 blue model I loved that little bike 👍 had a lot of fun on that little bike 😎👌
I had the same Honda CT70 mine was the K2 model with the yellow honda logo & blue behind the letters :) mine had 450 original miles & I put 1,882 miles on it!!!!
Man you get to play with the coolest old bikes everyday. Living the dream my friend. I’m lucky I’ve gotten to buy fix ride and sell 80% of the ones that come around my area, I just hate selling them!! Wish I could keep them all. Maybe I’ll get them back in heaven lol. Godspeed!
I had one of those in the late 1970s at my parents summer home.. Great times I rode that thing for hours a day on all kinds of trails. The thing was bullet proof never had a single thing go wrong with it and I was rough as all hell on it...
Bendiciones muchas gracias por alegrarnos el día con los fantásticos videos muy interesantes cada día, tenía tiempo de no ver ese modeló de honda pero muy fuerte el chasis espectacular 👌saludos 🤝🇵🇦
brought it back, they have the Dax 125 CC mini trail but they haven't shipped it to the states yet, with the competition of the Honda Trail 125 and the Grom and the Honda Monkey they have bright
Just like mine I paid a dollar/CC bought it from a li'l neighbor girl back in '73 in mint condition can't believe how much $$ it's changing hand for today 😯
Hope you're doing well your videos are amazing all the details that you guys explain about the different box that's a neat little bike I made it rings back some memories for yourself I don't know if you remember the Honda qa250 I had one of those those were pretty cool little bike have a good day
If gas keeps going up you might start seeing Alot more little trail bikes being ridden to work and around town more than ever.I'm already seeing a few more 250 street legal trail bikes on the road than normal. You could ride The Honda SL 100 I had when I was 11 years old on the road.It would run 63 mph on flat ground and probably got around 70mpg.Although it was meant to be a trail bike it was street legal, even had a place to a license plate if you wanted to ride it on the road.
I have an all original 1972 H model as well. Is it me or your exhaust is wrong for your year? Looks like it has a 71' exhaust. Also you're right you have aftermarket fenders front&rear. I know because I had the same fenders and it bugged me so I bought oem ones on ebay. I like your bike!!
People get really weird about original parts. Yes, I want most of it original. Things I’d rather have upgraded: carb, sprockets, chain, piston, ALL SEALS AND GASKETS, seat if it’s even slightly mashed, cables, brake pads, tires, tubes, bearings, clutch.
That was a bad a$$ minibike in its day. 70cc, 4 speeds and a clutch. My first ride at 9 years old was a Kawasaki "Coyote" 50 cc 2 stroke. I'd love to see one of those again.
About the time of this bike, Honda made a trail motorcycle, I think a 100 or a 125, and they came in blue and red. Can anyone remember what model I'm sort-of remembering?
They just keep blowing my mind with these bikes.....I could go to garage sales from now til the next millennium and never find anything but piles of junk
Funny thing is the OEM Honda piston is far from the best piston you can get today. Not that it matters if it’s tuned properly it’ll outlast most of us.
I love u guys but its provenance not providence and its unprecedented not unpresidented please dont take this as an insult ,more like constructive criticism. Love the videos❤
The SL70 was a better bike c'mon guys! I grew up hot wiring both of those shits before we got our hands on smokers. But anyway yes I love that bike 3sp or manual. Remember the fucking green ones, the gold ones... the yellow ones... and the Über rare 2-year 90 model you guys drug out of NYC last month.... Peace. PS: dumped the DT last week on a failed standup wheelie. Picked it back up and smacked it on a tree, good as new with a new turn signal. Rolling anvils.
Reliable motor and transmission. That is about it. Everything else is not good at all. Brakes are not good, handling poor, Suspension is the worst, and when you bottom out the front forks which happens all the time, the headlight will fall out and bounce off your front fender but not to worry about losing it as the wires will keep it on the front fender. If the bike falls over and it will, the handle bars are so soft they bend inward curling the grips up at an awkward angle. Bending them back is a pain and be careful not to break the locks. For some reason Honda made the bars folding for transport which no one ever used. Stupid idea. The 4 speed with clutch was the better bike. 3 Speed auto had a 2 mile per hour higher top speed. The better bike by far is the SL 70 or sl100. By far!!!

When my daughter was 9 I bought her a C/T 70. When she was married and moved out, the Honda stayed. I still ride that little bike.

I learned on a gold one (3spd)…man what a blast ! Talk about memory’s….

That exhaust guard was not OEM for 1972, it was 71 or earlier. Beautiful bike.
My god, what a GEM! We had the BEST toys back in the day!

We run the fn wheels off that lil 70 that's awesome thanks for sharing brother
Would be a seriously smart move for Honda to bring them back, what a unit 💪❤👍
If they made this today, exactly the same quality as the original, it would cost $10,000.
brought it back, they have the Dax 125 CC mini trail but they haven't shipped it to the states yet, with the competition of the Honda Trail 125 and the Grom and the Honda Monkey they have bright
Qe reliquia x dios son hermosas yo ni nacía ese año tengo la imitación de las daxs un sueño son 👍
Sweet lil Machine....
You still want to go to Aspen? Got room for one more. I get 70 miles to gallon on this hog!!!
Well,you redeemed yourself 😁
The funniest thing with these bikes is THEY ABSOLUTELY NEED THE BATTERY!!! Even if it’s dead! It completes the circuit 🧿
Just like mine I paid a dollar/CC bought it from a li'l neighbor girl back in '73 in mint condition can't believe how much $$ it's changing hand for today 😯
I never knew about the "H" model...sweet!

I’m a kid again!!😃 Thanks! Outstanding condition.

I hear Honda is making these again. But in 125. Great bike.
Yes it is called a Honda 125 FC Dax, but they may not bring them to the US because of the Trail 125 FC
Nice i prefer SL 70
i wanted to see sr send it up the mini bike hillclimb lol
Wow, used have a plastic model of this bike, back in the 70's. Would spend HOURS pretending I was actually riding it in my room.
