Can you make the black egg tempera? I was thinking just mixing some charcoal and egg yolk together?
Hi Antonis, do you make your own oilpaint with oil and pigments like the eggtempera, or do you use paint from the store? And what do you use as a medium for the oilpaint? I love watching your videos, very well done, thank you! Greetings from the Netherlands
Hello Antonis ! Thank you ! I want to do iconography im beginner do you recommend purchase your course or to erly for starting my journey? Thanks!Evgeniy.
Excellent tutorial as usual, Antonis. One question: at 2:10 you say that, before starting with oil colors, you either spray some varnish or apply a layer of linseed oil. Could you please explain us how you apply linseed oil? With a brush, or a rag, or what else? Isn't the egg tempera layer disturbed by the oil layer? Thank you.
I can just brush a little oil on the egg tempera if I feel the layer of tempera is too absorbant. I don't overdo it though. No issues at all
@@PaintingtheLight Thank you for your answer, I have to try this technique. I remember a video of yours about tempera grassa, I was wondering if maybe tempera grassa could be even more suitable as an underpainting for oil (it should be less absorbent). Or maybe not, perhaps tempera grassa doesn't dry as fast as pure egg tempera...
How long does it take to create a portrait like this?
Like 5 hours
Why do you make such a huge jump in your painting, leaving out the painting of the eye and a great deal of key detail?
