Weird looking tofu.
Maybe it’s expired
@@AndyVNguyen nah its just stinky tofu, looks bad on the outside but is great on the inside.
I think it was dropped while shipping
Loved how conversational this video was :) keep up the good work Andy
Thanks Astrikos! Hoping all the explanations helped people on this one
Man! I enjoy your no BS take on keyboards! This would've made a nice complement to my Spring!!!
Awesome review homie. The Bear is a dope board for sure!
Surprised they didn’t run gray so now mine is RARE lol
@@AndyVNguyen Hell yeah. And it's a nice gray too.
Top-tier vid as usual Andy! For beginner alice/arisu users, the Av3 mentioned in the vid is no longer being released, but Joe/IV-Works has come out with the new Av4 :D. Unlimited GB ended a couple months back so extras will most likely be in 2023. I used to have the Av3 and loved it.
I was tempted into buying the AV4 because it was expensive being an acrylic board. Good that I did not buy it because the moment I saw the bear V2 I bought the blue one at the spot. However that RGB in the AV4 look so cool.
As for entry level Alice/Arisu layout boards, the Keychron Q8 will be released till the end of this month.
I use the extra right B on an Alice layout as a dedicated delete (well, it's also on layer 1 backspace). It works out very well.
Hope your doing better! Thanks for the good review.
Thanks for the well wishes! I’m surviving. Been so busy lately need to cut back
If you're looking for a balanced aesthetic you should check out the SneakBox AVA. Muji (AVA designer) did away with the right shift to move the arrows closer in. IMO it's the most balanced looking arisu out there.
Booo, I’m a right shift user
How do you feel about the Owlab Spring?
I have the Akko one, only minor issues I had with it is that it's very muted, has north facing and doesn't support stepped caps/split backspace.
But it's only 120 bucks (slightly more because I put some MX Blacks on it with the alu plate).
And for thr F keys I just use a macropad.
That is a few issues lol. But cheap. Imo Macropads are annoying because it’s a second usb cable on the desk
@@AndyVNguyen honestly, I don' mind north facing because I use ASA and am waiting for some KAT keycaps.
The muted sound is eh, like it does sound very clean but just on the quieter side.
And the layouts I can't complain for 120 bucks tbh.
Keychron q8 review soon then??
I keep on thinking about the FancyAlice66 (under $100) as an entry point for trying out the layout, but the bear looks great!
I've own this FancyAlice66 in opaque white casing with akko cs ocean blues. Bought this as a cheap entry to arisu layouts since I didn't know if I would like it or not
The board can pull its own weight without any foam, just need to be mindful of the lack of left extra B key, incompatibility with durock v2's thick housings and the possibility of a cracked acrylic layer due to shipping and handling, had to get my top layer replaced because of this
@@Ray.F That's great to hear, thanks for sharing! I think fortunately I do hit the b key with my left hand by default, so I'm covered there, and I have a decent number of clip in stabs I would probably use over the Durock screw-ins if fitment's an issue. Again, that's great to hear!
@@ImOnMy116 that's great, then you have no need to worry about hitting a phantom B key with your right hand!
Hmmm i have tried some cherry clip ins as well and the housings are still too thick.... Perhaps you could find some good quality plate mount stabilizers, or pcb mounts with thinner housings? Some have tried AKKO screw ins, fancytech screw ins and they fit in well. I personally use frankenstabilizers made from gopolar screw in housings with durock v2 stems
@@Ray.F Oh wow, I'd not have thought that installing stabs on that would be so finicky, good to know!
@@ImOnMy116 Yeaa, but once you get past the stabilizers compatibility, it's a pretty well specced board for the low price! They have a new version of it with a CNC acrylic case that is very similar to Akko Pro Alice's case.
I bought mine just weeks before they launched the new version, but it's fine with me, I like the transparent bottom layer, it adds some character to it I guess
I am happy with my Akko Alice Pro haha, first time trying this layout and love it.
Do you have a recommendation for a wireless split keyboard that has tenting? I currently use the Microsoft Ergo Sculpt keyboard, which is super super comfortable for my hands and shoulders, but the keys suck and the stupid USB dongle is insanely annoying as i keep loosing it.
Keychron Q8 layout looks good to me. I can't live with WKL on macOS.
As a world of warcraft player, none of these ergonomic types of keyboards that I am seeing pop up here and there would really work for that. While the entire number row is not something I need, I do press H and Y on a regular basis.
Yeah I can see how that’s
D be a problem for sure
Ooooh, my janky Photoshop job made the vid
what about maja v2 by kbdfans?
What color is the bear u have? I can’t find that anodized grey color
It’s gray - odd they aren’t selling it weird
@@AndyVNguyen for real, ano gray hits different among those color options. 🤦♂️
If you want to try alice you could also get a "Praxis IM" it seems really good
I see you use your left thumb for spacebar, which I use as well. Have you found that hand positioning cause issues for you? Boards like the spring or the ava has a large left spacebar which seems to be much nicer.
Nope, feels fine for me
curious on rukia lore… do you mind explaining what happened or where to look 👀
The geekhack thread has some summaries
3d printed keyboard review coming soon???
What’s ur current gaming keyboard and what’s a good switch to use for gaming for a custom board?
Unikorn, which is a 60%. People who want gaming switches are typically just looking for lighter springs which you can buy and put in any swirch
Where's the links for the boards?
it's in the description but GB is over
what's that buzzing sound in the duration of this vid
Probably something with my cable. I’ll check it out and fix it for the next video, thanks!
I hope you review the Maja V2
I'm curently typing on a maja v2 and its a great board. that being said it is not a flexy board by any stretch of the imagination it isnt stiff it just isn't flexy
@@BugIronOnHerHip appreciate the reply! Thanks really looking forward to it, i honestly dont mind the flex as long as its not a stiff typing exprience, cant wait for my first ergo :)
What's the maker of those artisans?

The unattainable grey Pooh 🐻
Oops
praxis IM best budget alice
I suggest looking into the ymdk wings for an introduction to arisu. Its not expensive and it sounds decent for a top plate with enough work on it
Yeah that one is a little rough. Heard the sound tests. You ain’t ever reselling that if you buy it lol
idk dude ive never liked alice kbs or found them ergo in any way. they just look like a normal kb forced/desfigured onto the microsoft natural formation.
Actually you can buy a akko Alice pro for 100$ for a diy Kit, if you wanna buy with keycaps and switches will be cost 135$. Is pretty good Alice keyboard for cheap price, i can recommend for test if you like or not
Forgot about akko!
Was waiting for your review to decide on whether or not to join this GB as I don’t have an ergo board…I did not see this video drop. I am sad, but my wallet is not.
The only thing that turns me off of split space bar is the lack of a thiccc spacebar!! Where's the thock? Where's the spacebar bias? It feels so boring
damn that keyboard hurts to look at for someone who can't type
Better start practicing!
Touch typing is good, try it
Sheesh Alice love ❤️
Yeee yeee
Dude do you even sleep? 😅
No
@@AndyVNguyen 😴😴
Alice isn't ergo
Good thing I say that in the first few minutes of the video that you didn’t watch

Owlab Spring looks better.

arisu as a name is kinda racist; its how Japanese people would say alice
That’s a stretch
@@AndyVNguyen just saying if there was a Godzilla toy called "oh mai gah iz gozilla* ... It's just not cool making fun of people's accents is all
do you have proof that's why arisu is called arisu?
@@AndyVNguyen the guy who made that layout's girlfriend was named Alice and he was Japanese...so yea
Alice isn't ergo
Good thing I say that in the first few minutes of the video that you didn’t watch
I actually watched it when I was not logged in and heard what you said. I was commenting on the title.
