- Today we are going to be doing a fishing challenge where I test the Lipless Crankbait vs. The Squarebill Crankbait in the same situations to find out which one is better! These two bass fishing lures are often used interchangeably, especially around shallow rock like we are fishing around today! I have my own idea of which lure is going to win out, but you're going to have to watch to find out for yourself!

I mean, it really depends on what the fish are on at that time. Squarbills have a wider wobble and diplace more water, sometimes thats too much for them and a lipless works great. Sometimes its the sound of the rattles or none at all. There's a lot more that goes into cranking than just this type vs that type.

Great challenge video, but on any given day I myself would choose a lipless crankbait over a Squarebill. I feel that the lipless is a little more versatile. There’s just so many different ways you can fish it to match the fish’s mood and position within the water column. Love the content, keep up the good work!!

Ever change the hooks out on those Strike King baits?
it would be cool to see a challenge like this with two fisherman using them at the same location/area trading off casts.
If I’m going after BIG ones, I change the hooks. They are good enough for most fish though
I wish i could you those 2 baits more but i have so much crud in my lakes most of the year. But when i can i would say i prefer a squarebill
I would love to see a video comparing the Lew's classic pro , LFS, BB1 for your opinion on what is the best reel.
The BB1 is in its own category though as a cranking reel. The others are all just different price points. So whatever you can afford 👍🏼

Question about this: Was your squarebill ticking the bottom during most of your retrieve or swimming open? If it was ticking bottom and the lipless was swimming open that could have been what they wanted more that day? Just thinking through things....

I used to have the same problem losing fish until I started replacing the hooks. Mustad triple grip Kvd TG-76 solved that problem.

I'll take a squarebill over lipless pretty much any day of the week. It's so easy to fish...even as a relative beginner.

Great video but...... Your fishing the lipless wrong think of it more like a chatter bait throw it near grass and wood over the square bill near shallow hard bottom or rock . Just a thought

I think your problem here is you shouldn’t fish a lipless like a square bill. Not the same speed cadence or action.
