Both the exercises and the games are very practical so dog owners may use them throughout the day to have a well-trained dog. There are training nuggets throughout, both in the step-by-step instructions ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfKlzfzw0sMZ_RgZNzMeOPu6d4b5i5XWl and the troubleshooting sections that will help enrich the lives of both dogs and their owners!

I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYk0d is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!

Perfect timing. Used to have a pupper that would return 100% if the time. Now she refuses to come near me in the park and instead she runs straight towards me and swipes past my leg!!! It's brutal seeing them go from NEEDING YOU to casually being a rebel.

Zak can you please do more teenage dog videos?! I love this! My lab puppy is 6 months old and I don’t really know what I should be doing with him training wise now! I used you videos all the way up till now! He comes 90% of the time even if he doesn’t sprint he will come. He knows sit, stay, wait, come, load up (in car), lay down, drop it, fetch, shake, high five. All need practice but what new things should I teach him? Also, can you please do a video on teaching your dog to be good around kids? Thank you!!

Daniel and I survived Fergus - our labradoodle who was with us for 12 years till an illness took him from us. To say he was difficult would be an understatement. But I would not remove those years or the struggle with that crazy dog for anything. He was rebellious for 2 years. He thought we were just plain wrong all the time and let us know. Thank you Fergus for the life changing and eye opening journey you gave us.

Been through this with several dogs. They are not rebelling or intentionally defying you, they are just learning how to become dogs and exploring the options they never realized they had when they were little puppies - what works, what is fun, what doesn't work, what disapproval by the owner means. Requires lot of consistency, patience, and exercise from owner and they come through it. Important, but often difficult, to not lose your temper althought you do have to express your disappoval of certain behaviors so they can learn the rules.

I so glad you are going over things like this because my husband has a difficult time with our Male doberman, with barking and snapping at him. Drax is more attached to me. I had a difficult time with our female, KYA who is more attached to him.
But it's gotten to a point I'm concerned that my husband can't work thought it with Drax that I might have to find him a new home.
Do you have any advise on how to train my husband to work with this kind of situation?

Carson Mayberry I mean remove yourself from the room first. Force them to get along. Without you there the dog won't be aggressive. If your there she won't socialize because you will be fulfilling that for her.
Don't let the dogs in the bed.
All else fails a good slap might work.

my pup is 6 month right now, he only rebels with zoomies if he's on a normal leash? he follows me around off leash and doesn't wander more than 40ft unless we're at a dog park, he can also be trusted to run home from the bottom of our 600ft drive way, he even turns back every 10ft to check that your following him. my main issue right now is trying to teach stay and leave it, he'll leave a treat but won't listen to leave it with anything else despite my efforts, he also wont stay if your more than 5ft away because he gets up to follow you. he also likes to nip, not hard though, very softly, you can only feel the tips of his teeth.

Hey Zak, I have a 12 month old lab/pointer mix. A few months after we got her, she started undergoing surgeries for her hip diplasia. After a few surgeries and a lot of crate restriction to ensure her healing, we let her adjust back to normal life. After her second surgery, so in about April, she started the "teenage phase". Nipping, chewing on shoes and furniture, jumping, aggression, etc. I'm assuming all that time recovering in the crate had her bottle up all her energy and frustration. She was such a sweet girl and I know she has potential, but I have no idea what to do about the biting! She does it playfully, but doesn't seem that she listens when I ask her to stop. It hurts! . I feel like she's getting too old to train, even though she's only a year old. Tips? I would love to have her professionally trained but I can't afford it.

Our Hailey is a Border Collie/American Pit Bull Terrier and has just turned a year old. We have been shocked at how all of a sudden, she just became so stubborn and just down right defiant! lol She was doing great (we didn't rescue her from a shelter until 8 months) my husband works with her constantly. Then one day, she just decided she didn't want to do what we said anymore and just "zooms" around the house barking constantly. Been using your videos, always seems to help, but this is crazy! She will do the things you showed on the video WHEN SHE WANTS TO... any other time, forget it. ....sigh.....We're 55 years old and knew this would be our last dog. Getting to the point that she is 65 pounds, uncontrollable, and concerned about this. Love her to pieces though....

    • @lazypuppo
      @lazypuppo 6 років тому +1

Debbie Senese Maybe you should just get a dog trainer to help you train her. (Edit: you have 2 working line breeds in one dog. She needs an outlet to drain all of her energy mentally and physically. A daily job. Dogs like this need something to do every single day on top of being a good dog otherwise you’ll just have a constant headache on your hands. A toy breed would be more suitable for you guys.)

Thank you. She's been through her basic training course and did well. We have continued with what she learned, however, one day, she just decided she didn't want to listen anymore. We do have a trainer, and he'll be coming on Friday to work with her and us in her own environment. She is not only exercise physically as she does need much of that, but mentally we also keep her stimulated by working with her and with the IQ dog games as well. We will continue to do what we can with her, it's only been since about 3 weeks before she turned a year old. We'll continued to work with her and know it's not only a daily job, it's an all the time job. Thank you again for your kind reply.

My puppy Enkidu has hit his 4 month mark and refuses to listen on walks. He sits, lays down, and even rolls on his back while on walks. He has a lot of energy but refuses to burn it. He has also started the habit of pulling on cloths and hands while refusing to take interest in his toys. I will have a bone/toy in my hand and he just goes for my body and dodges the toy all together. I'd love to exercise him more but he doesn't really seem to be into play and our old method of walking just turns into me trying to get him to to just listen while he takes a rest.

We do have a bunch of exciting toys. Just got new ones. 5 month old labs. I have a clicker and usually one of them will come. I slacked off with it. I also have a jar with rocks to shack. They a litter mates. They play rough. I am sure they are teaching each other how to stand ground? My black one just recently started to put his foot down more or less. The yellow one, female, athena, she would grab a hold of zeus (black) by collar or neck and bring him down and hold him. Zeus now does it to athena. Zeus a male. They play hard and at times to rough. That is when it's time to chill.. the clicker, whistle and jar won't stop them. I tried garden hose. Well that was fun. A kiddy pool, we'll let's just say that got taken away. They fight. How do we get them to turn that deaf ear into hearing? It gets frustrating which the whole thing probably my fault. I didn't throw ball to them nor take them for walk this afternoon. It's was unavoidable. Just need help with how. Had dogs all my life so it's not new. We lost one in Sept and march. Those 2. We had 14 yrs and 13 yrs. The older one trained the younger one. Everyone says yellow lab wow. Hands full. During the day, I have things to do for a few hours. Hard to do, the digging, we built a box for that so they have their own digging area. They leave that alone. I am planting sticks in it in the morning. They been digging up roots from trees. The trees gone. Stump left which we have to fence off. It's fenced off. Once snow melted, it uncovered mushrooms on the stump. Thanks for help

Buddy The Borador I wish I had a dog. I have been wanting one really badly since I was little. Dogs are my favorite animals and I love re-learning on how to train then, things about them , etc.

Hello!! Me and my family are getting a puppy, during the day when she falls asleep, should we put her in her crate to show her ‘that’s where she sleeps’, or, is it best to let her sleep and only put her in at night?

    Hello!
We are looking to get a 4 month old rottie/lab mix! I have been binge watching all of your videos in hopes to becoming more prepared in the training aspect of owning our first dog. Question, we live in central new york where going to a park will not be in an option in 2/3 months. How would you suggest getting your dog to listen to you when your options of taking it to different places becomes limited?

My puppy is 2 months old and is loosing his milk teeth. He is quite aggressive but not in a teenage way. He does a lot of biting and chewing and jumping. That’s because he is the equivalent of a hyper 6-9 year old child. I am hoping his teen years will be safe as he finishes his puppy years. I am not wanting them to, but I think when he is 1 year old, my Grandparents are going to neuter him. I hope they don’t. They should know that if their responsible and watching him, he won’t randomly go out to have kids. That’s not normal, despite what most people think. In boy dogs, humping on girls is common, but actually going for it and making puppies isn’t something they just randomly get the hunch to do. It’s manageable, and mostly better for your dog. But always consult your vet to see what the right option is for your furry friend! ♥️🙂

My puppy won’t look at me no matter what I’ve done. He’s so wild and jumps up on me and especially my 8 yr old I don’t know what else to do. If I try to use treats he goes crazy. I really need help or I may give him back to the rescue we adopted him from. This breaks my heart but I’m afraid he might hurt my son. He goes right for his face. I can’t ever leave them alone I don’t trust the dog. Is there a time when a dog just won’t be good with children? I really need help. Zak if you’re reading this please please help.

I’m visiting family with my 8 month puppy who is in the process of training right now. I’ve had discussions with my family members about how to treat her when she’s barking, scratching, etc and have told them exercise and positive affirmation etc but they aren’t practiced in how I train. They’ll often give her what she wants while barking or yell at her to be quiet etc. and I’ve told them to ignore but I don’t think they get it and it’s starting to confuse my dog and impend the training. Any tips on what to do

Hi Zak! I have a question for you.. my maltipoo is really hard to feed. He recently just started being fussy with his food. To the point where he wont even eat steamed/boiled chicken with rice! He is a perfectly healthy dog, playful & energetic. But when it comes to eating i cant get him to eat very much. Do you have any suggestions on how to get my boys appetite back?

If your neighbors know that their dog keeps escaping then they should either put their dog on a leash or stop being lazy and come outside and play with their dog.

if this is a habbit keep it in your yard and have animal control pick it up so your neighbor learns to keep their dog in his yard if they don't want to keep paying a fee to get it back.
