I would keep it in the obscure mint coulour, the Deutsche Bahn used in the early 1990s (those where th colours, I was used to as a child and juvenile). As you have said, the paint job is not perfect, but also not bad. Cool addition to your collection - you might find another Ludmilla with more original colour sheme. All the best Valentin

Приветствую, Эрик! Насколько я понял, это старое Piko. Копийным этот тепловоз не назовешь. Он гораздо шире, чем должен быть. Поэтому пытаться из него делать копийную модель смысле нет. Из минимальных доработок можно убрать буфера, нанести надписи СССР. Основной цвет , думаю, можно не трогать . Боковую полосу можно жёлтой сделать, метельник красным. Ну и тележки черным. Ходовые качества у этого тепловоза очень хорошие. Успехов в творчестве!
Согласен. Старое ГДРовске PIKO это конечно сакральные вещи для советского ребёнка пусть даже и большого, но всё же ROCO и BRAWA в части копийности ушли намного дальше.
Hi Erik, your idea to re-paint the Ludmilla depends on how well you want it to look after. As it has already been hand painted its possible you will loose the crispness of the features, (I know by my mistakes on a Lima 215). To get the best results the old paint needs to be removed which can ne difficult but I found a way. Firstly the windows need to be removed (not easy) and then modelers paint stripper applied (designed specially for plastics) a few times depending on the paint thickness. When washed in warm soapy water the body shell will show all its fine details. With this method there is no need to try and take off the paint with wet+ dry paper leaving scratches. Airbrushing gives the best results and micro masking tape for the separating lines. I found broken windows can be replaced with clear plastic from cartons if damaged when removing them, especially flat glass panels. If you simply add decals and some small detailing this will be the easiest option. The wagons are very nice, you always surprise me with the amazing rolling stock you find. Cheers, Paul.🖌

I have seen on e-bay some locomotives painted in fantasy colours, ”violating” the epoch they belonged to etc. Like an BR218 in WW2 military camouflage paint so on. Far from me to suggest you should not convert the Ludmilla, especially when I also have one with painting problems (probably much older than yours) and at one point I should resolve it... An option would be, I think, to keep it as it is now, especially if you like this blue and it is already like the real loco, and as you have (I guess) some Deutsche Bundesbahn railcars... On the other hand, to enrich the Soviet locomotives park it-s also an attractive idea, so it is too much up to your taste in this aspect... or, who knows, a public questioning on the Petrushino local radio, the citizens may call to express their opinions. :) Have a great day! /Chris
Привет! локомотив Тэ109 не самый распространенный был в СССР, в СССР на каждой станции ходили BR120 -"Taiga Trommel" М62, как их называли немцы. Обрати лучше на него внимание!)
