I'v been throwing for three years and sometimes still feel like a beginner. I learn something helpful from you every time I watch! Your art is so beautiful and inspiring. So happy that you and your wife have made it through Covid twice now and hope that you don't have to go through that again. Thank you. It's not easy to make good videos and want you to know you are appreciated.
Hello Vaughn - Question for ya... I have been using dark clay with grog ever since I began. I just switched to a softer more buttery clay with no grog. Out of 10 attempts to create something, I tore through 8 and the other 2 aren't very pretty. Any tips you can offer?? Again, thanks for all your wonderful online lessons. Recently made my first plate (with that groggy clay) because of your lesson on plates! Thanks so much!
It is hard when you switch clay bodies but you will get used to it. I work with four different ones and the subtle differences are hard but after awhile I get used to it.
Hi Vaughan, I've just discovered your channel and am really enjoying it! I started potting about two months ago (I'm loving it) and have a question for you about pulling the walls. From what I understand, your fingers on the outside are aligned with your fingers on the inside, whereas I've seen other potters on youtube have their fingers offset and put there inside finger a little higher than the outside fingers. Not sure if this is a preference thing or not? Thanks again :)
Welcome to the pottery addiction. You are right, the fingers are just offset as you mentioned, so the outside fingers pressing on the wall are the last contact point as you pull up, that way the wall stays narrow or tapering in from bottom to top.
As always, very fine sgraffito work and amount of details surrounding the initial planning of each individual piece of ware. Actually lots of sheep, horses and cows along Acle straight-if you know where is. Btw, how to prevent a flat tile from warping during firing? Thank you.
Are they in the video or before it. I get ads before videos put on what I watch because I will not pay UA-cam a subscription fee. There should not be any in the video because I have not monetized the channel.
@@Vsmithpots it used to be ads that has the option to skip after 5 secs but this time it was 2 long ads that I had to watch before your video. I'm just letting you know because I know you don't monetise the channel. Exceptional video btw. Really helpful. 😁
@@tracyholmes9605 I am getting that too. UA-cam is making me watch ads when I watch any youtube video, no 5 seconds and then click out. They want us to pay money to not watch ads. I think when you see ads in the middle of a video that is when it has been monetized.

I use weights on all the edges and bisque fire to cone 01 and glaze to 04.
@@Vsmithpots Thank you. Finger cross on mine.
I'm in my eighties and just started pottery
Good luck, now you will live forever.
They've put adverts on!
