I was never a cat person. Found them cute but never caught my interest. Until this little black stray cat with huge green eyes came up to me one night. She was meowing so loud, and rubbing her head against my legs. I immediately fed her, and she stayed on my porch, never left. I eventually brought her inside, and have loved her ever since. 💓
Never thought I was a cat person until the same thing happened to me! Mine was a tabby ginger cat though. But I could never bring her home cause my mum was extremely afraid of cats. It’s been years and eventually she was gone but I haven’t stopped thinking about her since. 😢

I don't think you are correct in the assumption that cats really do like to be petted or cuddled. Watch their tails to see if they like or don't like something. Some simply tolerate being hugged or petted a lot. Just don't be surprised when petting-induced aggression shows up. I think you can over-stimulate them. Some just don't like all the petting. Dogs, on the other hand . . . I have both!

My cat loves to sit on my chest and tilt his head back so i can kiss the top of his head multiple times. He will tilt his head back several times. He just completely loves doing this not sure why but i love it too!!!

Not all cats are the same. My cat demands hugs and kisses. When I came home he jumps onto a table or chair and puts his arms up until I pick him up and hug him. When he's on my lap, he wraps his arm around my neck and pulls my head down to kiss me. His sister isn't quite as affectionate, but she still does give kisses fairly often.
Awwww, that is so adorable. My mom's cat used to be like that. Too bad we had to give them away, since landowner did not allow her cats even though they lived in her new apartement a while. It was because they ran so much that they scratched the wood flooring. I think I can understand it that much. I need to keep company for my mom as much as possible.

I can tell when my furry baby wants lovin’s and when she doesn’t. I know when she wants me to play with her. And sometimes when I go downstairs to do laundry I can hear her crying for me. However, if it’s nap time I don’t hear anything or if she has an agenda. Cats are very independent. I admire and respect that.
I usually love animals nd there was this white cat with big green eyes came to me nd meowed..I was overjoyed cause I always wanted a pet but my parents never allowed to have one. I kept some milk and voila it became so friendly..moving around me meowing , leaning its head on me..it stayed in parking rolling nd seeing the lights with big green fascinated eyes..I badly wanted it inside my house but my mum was glaring at me..I hope it comes back to me today again. Edit: it did came back eventually every single day, it was pregnant so even gave birth to 4 cute kitties in our parking area. Out of 4 two died due to stray cat attack and today we gave the left out 2 kitties away to a person who could take care of it. I had 3 stray cats that enjoyed a good life for 18 years and loved every moment .They like to roam outside where they came from into a goid life Kitty which I saw she was pregnant cought on July 17 th my wife's birthday with the fishibg net 3 days later on my late father's birthday she gave birth to 5 lovely kittens.You could see in her face she was happy and delighted to have a box full of clean sweaters to sleep have food and a nice house to enjoy.4 girls went to beautiful homes.I kept Lucky Kitty's litter.He did last year in August his mother Kitty died last.in February 17.18 years and 7 months to date with me Tobi my favorite died in 2016, and Roughy died in February 2017 I miss them.They were wonderful and loved me to pieces.They all had a good home woods behind my house, where they came and enjoyed after I gave them a nice house to live and enjoy.

i taught my cat to love hugs and kisses. she was six months when i got her, she was a rescue from a feral colony. she had some socialization when i got her but it also took the lady i adopted her from several days to get her into her kitty carrier... as she got to understanding i was her guardian basically i would wrap my arms around her and give a light little squeeze. the first few days it was quick, always releasing before she would offer up any resistance or try to get away, now she comes after me looking for bear hugs, loud purrs and her head nuzzling up under my chin and everything. i can tell she doesn't like being picked up. shes comforatble in the "shoulder" position and she seems to enjoy being lifted with her underbelly supported for short spurts but she loathes being cradled like a human baby.

Regardless, do you play it when the cat's sleeping nearby? Cats hate loud noises. My cat was sleeping this afternoon on an enclosed porch, but was awakened by fireworks going off a block away. He awoke and his ears were going in all directions trying to find the source of the noise. If they expect or desire quiet and that's disturbed, they hate it.

I found this list to be right on. In addition, my cats intensely dislike being left in the dark. I am disabled (veteran) and always have some lights on after sundown to help prevent my falling. This is a normal routine for my fur babies. If I am out of the house and do not get home until after sundown, my kitties are pretty sore at me.
Ours dislike children as our own r adults they run n go under tge bed when visitors with small children come over theyre fine with grown ups actually the male will come introduce himself!!

Got my kitty last Sunday night. She had all afternoon to say good bye to her sister and mother with some last plays outside where the badger took their little brother. Hopefully, the journey with the metro was not too stressful for her. Late at night. Few travelers. Quiet journey. She's sleeping on my bed for an afternoon nap as we speak. From the sign posts, she may have accepted me as her human dad. Which makes my wounded heart melt.
Yah these are all great points. I'm an animal behaviorist with decades of experience with these animals. And my best advice is lots of what is given here. But also read up on cat behavior. The african wildcat our domestic types descended from have very specific behaviors not shared by all other cat species. They are communal in behavior in the wild with dominant females. They bring food back to their territory to share with their social group, so don't flip out if your outdoor cat brings you dead animals, and don't praise them for it. Just remove the animal. When they accept humans into their social order it's been said they see us as other cats in their group. So petting properly is seen by them as grooming and strengthens the social bond. Do it often WHEN they come to you for it. Don't seek them out like when they're sleeping and lavish attention on them. It's ALWAYS better for them to come to you. They don't dig change at all, as far as introducing other cats or dogs, but they CAN adapt to it. But sometimes they can't, so remove the new animal if no social bond is formed between them in more than a month. Cats are most comfortable when they can do their own thing in their own time. This means giving them a wide latitude. And for the love of GOD don't try to discipline them by yelling and hitting them. It will only create more problems and confuse the animal. For me, after all the animals I've kept, and there's been many, they've come to be my favorite companions. They're very capable of loving us. Not to the degree dogs do, but dogs have been bred FOR that bond, but cats affection for kind and caring keepers is more than enough for a great companion. You don't own them as pets. They're your companions ONLY. You are their family and they need that bond to be healthy. And this is one thing I'll say to all cat keepers. That time will come when you may have to put them down. STAY with them during that procedure. You've been their whole world and they need your comfort in that scary place. I've seen so many owners just drop their pets off to get euthanized and leave. It REALLY pisses the vets off, and it's a selfish act. Be strong enough to be there for them then or don't keep one. Period.
@felidae The only comment I will make is at the end. I have been with all my cats and one dog when I had to let them go. I have them cremated and have my own cemetery for them, and that is where I will be too. As hard as it is to go through, I can’t imagine not being with them. I’ve known people who aren’t there “they couldn’t do it.” Yet I have witnessed how they were around them. They didn’t be with their cats because they didn’t really care and love them to begin with. Not like someone like me and many others. I didn’t know that it pisses off the veterinarian. I know mine would be dumbfounded if I wasn’t there.
As far as learning more about cats, this video is the most mind blowing piece of art that I have ever seen. The revelations brought forth by this educational piece of film have truly changed my life. I moved away from my place right by the hospital for starters. I now realize that my cats didn't like the sound of sirens and the vibrations of vehicles speeding by. Maybe I should have seen the signs. Every time an ambulance sped by with flashing lights and blaring sirens, my cats would freak out. I never made the connection. Thanks to this informative video, I have finally stopped throwing water balloons at my cats. Apparently they hate both. My girlfriend was always bitchin' at me about it. I was just trying to be playful... kinda thought the cats were just being a little stubborn. I have also removed all of the cucumbers from my apartment. It took a while... There are another 10 things that cats hate that didn't quite make the list. 11. Getting run over by a steamroller. 12. Going to family functions where you can't drink. 13. Oatmeal 14. Herpes 15. Quinoa 16. Having someone(human or feline) fart in their face 17. Feline AIDS(not official but they probably aren't big fans of human AIDS either) 18. Kid Rock 19. Being told they're "the cutest kitty in the whole wide world". They already know... 20.Watching humans watching videos of other cats. Love your kitties.

Star Oceans you're absolutely right. I went into a woman's house and found that a very young cats litter box was filthy so the poor thing would go into the tub. A young neighbor said, that cat!! I hate it it's disgusting. Well I lost it and started cleaning the box saying it's the adults fault for not cleaning out the box and her food should NOT be anywhere near her waste. Totally agree! One of my cats is very sensitive to new foods and when his behind is a little bit dirty from the litter box he will come to me, lay on his back or belly and actually let me clean his private parts! He taught me to do so, no treats from my side where needed! :)

I have a young cat that actually is addicted to physical affection, such as kissing, to the point where he starts mewing at my bed in the dead of the night because he wants to cuddle. I always feel incredibly pissed in the morning, but then he gives me his cute look and I cannot remain mad for much longer.
there is a person on FB, who showed a video of him forcing his cat to stay on his lap, when singing at the top of his lungs! I said that he was being cruel to the cat, and a lot of people made rude comments to me, and sticking up for that cruel person! I will always stick up for animals especially if they are being abused in any way!
I learned that cats would rather drink moving water (like a small waterfall) than still water. (like a pond) I think it is because cats know that the still water is dirty and the moving water is clean.
I feel so bad. I always have staring contests with my little kitty. While I did know that it wasn't the best idea to look at a cat straight in the eyes, I can't not make eye contact with my cat. It's like looking at someone when they're talking, it's polite and it's what I'm use to. But I didn't know that cats REALLY didn't like that. This was very informative. At least now I can try and avoid eye contact.
But if the cat keeps the stare, it's really an awesome thing 😍😍 We do it all the time until one of us winks the 'i love u'. Unless the cat diverts his-her eyes away, they aren't bothered and u are the real owner they acknowledge 😍😍😍 no one else will share that sweet bondage. my darling cats dislike not being involved when I take my own bath I know this because every time I take a bath my cats catapult themselves into the bath tub with me and I have tried everything to prevent it but in the end I have given up trying and just accepted it as something I am going to have to get used to also I can't get my cats to move away from me or show that they don't like being hugged to stuff of that sort my cats especially when it comes to bed time refuse to leave me alone and refuse to lay down unless I am hugging them once I give in and wrap my arms around them then they settle down and go to sleep my cats act almost like dogs if that is able to be believed I swear my cats all fetch their toys expecting me to throw them for them and then they bring their toys back to me they also come when I call them and many other things that are weird for a cat to do
Thought I was the only one hah. I live in a small studio and never got used to close the bathroom door, when I adopted my cat the first times I went to bath and closed the door he started to meow a lot and felt sad, so I started bathing again with the door open and now he loves it, he loves to drink the water form my leg when I'm done, and now I can't deny that to him lol. Just thoguht it could be weird.

I have two cats, they’re completely the opposite of one another. One cat hates everyone, loves milk, doesn’t like being touched at all (other than a few random times), prefers having near his tail pet and is just grumpy, The other loves everyone, he likes when I lay him in my chest and pet his face as he sleeps, he prefers water over milk, loves having his face pet, goes out of his way to find me just so I could pet him and is just a happy cat.
Same with me.. I have two cats.. The one is like to be touched.. She even meow and ask me to pet her.. But the other one, she doesn't like to be touched.. She will lick the part of her body that I touched.. I think she doesn't like the smell of human on her body

Not all cats are the same. My cat demands hugs and kisses. When I came home he jumps onto a table or chair and puts his arms up until I pick him up and hug him. When he's on my lap, he wraps his arm around my neck and pulls my head down to kiss me. His sister isn't quite as affectionate, but she still does give kisses fairly often.

Awwww, that is so adorable. My mom's cat used to be like that. Too bad we had to give them away, since landowner did not allow her cats even though they lived in her new apartement a while. I usually love animals nd there was this white cat with big green eyes came to me nd meowed..I was overjoyed cause I always wanted a pet but my parents never allowed to have one. I kept some milk and voila it became so friendly..moving around me meowing , leaning its head on me..it stayed in parking rolling nd seeing the lights with big green fascinated eyes..I badly wanted it inside my house but my mum was glaring at me..I hope it comes back to me today again.
Edit: it did came back eventually every single day, it was pregnant so even gave birth to 4 cute kitties in our parking area. Out of 4 two died due to stray cat attack and today we gave the left out 2 kitties away to a person who could take care of it. I had 3 stray cats that enjoyed a good life for 18 years and loved every moment .They like to roam outside where they came from into a goid life Kitty which I saw she was pregnant cought on July 17 th my wife's birthday with the fishibg net 3 days later on my late father's birthday she gave birth to 5 lovely kittens.You could see in her face she was happy and delighted to have a box full of clean sweaters to sleep have food and a nice house to enjoy.4 girls went to beautiful homes.I kept Lucky Kitty's litter.He did last year in August his mother Kitty died last.in February 17.18 years and 7 months to date with me Tobi my favorite died in 2016, and Roughy died in February 2017 I miss them.They were wonderful and loved me to pieces.They all had a good home woods behind my house, where they came and enjoyed after I gave them a nice house to live and enjoy.

i taught my cat to love hugs and kisses. she was six months when i got her, she was a rescue from a feral colony. she had some socialization when i got her but it also took the lady i adopted her from several days to get her into her kitty carrier...
as she got to understanding i was her guardian basically i would wrap my arms around her and give a light little squeeze. the first few days it was quick, always releasing before she would offer up any resistance or try to get away, now she comes after me looking for bear hugs, loud purrs and her head nuzzling up under my chin and everything.
i can tell she doesn't like being picked up. shes comforatble in the "shoulder" position and she seems to enjoy being lifted with her underbelly supported for short spurts but she loathes being cradled like a human baby.
cats are also independent and respect that 💕💕💕

I found this list to be right on. In addition, my cats intensely dislike being left in the dark. I am disabled (veteran) and always have some lights on after sundown to help prevent my falling. This is a normal routine for my fur babies. If I am out of the house and do not get home until after sundown, my kitties are pretty sore at me.

Got my kitty last Sunday night.
She had all afternoon to say good bye to her sister and mother with some last plays outside where the badger took their little brother.
Hopefully, the journey with the metro was not too stressful for her.
Late at night. Few travelers. Quiet journey.
She's sleeping on my bed for an afternoon nap as we speak.
From the sign posts, she may have accepted me as her human dad.
Which makes my wounded heart melt.
Yah these are all great points. I'm an animal behaviorist with decades of experience with these animals. And my best advice is lots of what is given here. But also read up on cat behavior. The african wildcat our domestic types descended from have very specific behaviors not shared by all other cat species. They are communal in behavior in the wild with dominant females. They bring food back to their territory to share with their social group, so don't flip out if your outdoor cat brings you dead animals, and don't praise them for it. Just remove the animal. When they accept humans into their social order it's been said they see us as other cats in their group. So petting properly is seen by them as grooming and strengthens the social bond. Do it often WHEN they come to you for it. Don't seek them out like when they're sleeping and lavish attention on them. It's ALWAYS better for them to come to you. They don't dig change at all, as far as introducing other cats or dogs, but they CAN adapt to it. But sometimes they can't, so remove the new animal if no social bond is formed between them in more than a month. Cats are most comfortable when they can do their own thing in their own time. This means giving them a wide latitude. And for the love of GOD don't try to discipline them by yelling and hitting them. It will only create more problems and confuse the animal. For me, after all the animals I've kept, and there's been many, they've come to be my favorite companions. They're very capable of loving us. Not to the degree dogs do, but dogs have been bred FOR that bond, but cats affection for kind and caring keepers is more than enough for a great companion. You don't own them as pets. They're your companions ONLY. You are their family and they need that bond to be healthy. And this is one thing I'll say to all cat keepers. That time will come when you may have to put them down. STAY with them during that procedure. You've been their whole world and they need your comfort in that scary place. I've seen so many owners just drop their pets off to get euthanized and leave. It REALLY pisses the vets off, and it's a selfish act. Be strong enough to be there for them then or don't keep one. Period.

I have them cremated and have my own cemetery for them, and that is where I will be too. As hard as it is to go through, I can’t imagine not being with them. I’ve known people who aren’t there “they couldn’t do it.” Yet I have witnessed how they were around them. They didn’t be with their cats because they didn’t really care and love them to begin with. Not like someone like me and many others. I didn’t know that it pisses off the veterinarian. I know mine would be dumbfounded if I wasn’t there.

I moved away from my place right by the hospital for starters. I now realize that my cats didn't like the sound of sirens and the vibrations of vehicles speeding by. Maybe I should have seen the signs. Every time an ambulance sped by with flashing lights and blaring sirens, my cats would freak out. I never made the connection.
Thanks to this informative video, I have finally stopped throwing water balloons at my cats. Apparently they hate both. My girlfriend was always bitchin' at me about it. I was just trying to be playful... kinda thought the cats were just being a little stubborn.

That is absolutely true regarding the comment that cats are fastidious and like to be clean.
Hollywood movies, selfish humans that keep them confined inside housing unattended and all would be cat opposers assume they're filthy or smelly by nature.
If litter boxes are not cleaned, odors left unattended and everything around them is filthy, it's HUMAN disregard that causes this condition...NOT the cat.

Star Oceans you're absolutely right. I went into a woman's house and found that a very young cats litter box was filthy so the poor thing would go into the tub. A young neighbor said, that cat!! I hate it it's disgusting. Well I lost it and started cleaning the box saying it's the adults fault for not cleaning out the box and her food should NOT be anywhere near her waste. Should you like to eat where you s__t.?? Very sad indeed.😟💟✝️😘

Totally agree! One of my cats is very sensitive to new foods and when his behind is a little bit dirty from the litter box he will come to me, lay on his back or belly and actually let me clean his private parts! He taught me to do so, no treats from my side where needed! :)

I have a young cat that actually is addicted to physical affection, such as kissing, to the point where he starts mewing at my bed in the dead of the night because he wants to cuddle. I always feel incredibly pissed in the morning, but then he gives me his cute look and I cannot remain mad for much longer.

I said that he was being cruel to the cat, and a lot of people made rude comments to me, and sticking up for that cruel person! I will always stick up for animals especially if they are being abused in any way!
I learned that cats would rather drink moving water (like a small waterfall) than still water. (like a pond)
I think it is because cats know that the still water is dirty and the moving water is clean.

I feel so bad. I always have staring contests with my little kitty. While I did know that it wasn't the best idea to look at a cat straight in the eyes, I can't not make eye contact with my cat. It's like looking at someone when they're talking, it's polite and it's what I'm use to. But I didn't know that cats REALLY didn't like that.

But if the cat keeps the stare, it's really an awesome thing 😍😍 We do it all the time until one of us winks the 'i love u'.

my darling cats dislike not being involved when I take my own bath I know this because every time I take a bath my cats catapult themselves into the bath tub with me and I have tried everything to prevent it but in the end I have given up trying and just accepted it as something I am going to have to get used to also I can't get my cats to move away from me or show that they don't like being hugged to stuff of that sort my cats especially when it comes to bed time refuse to leave me alone and refuse to lay down unless I am hugging them once I give in and wrap my arms around them then they settle down and go to sleep my cats act almost like dogs if that is able to be believed I swear my cats all fetch their toys expecting me to throw them for them and then they bring their toys back to me they also come when I call them and many other things that are weird for a cat to do
Thought I was the only one hah. I live in a small studio and never got used to close the bathroom door, when I adopted my cat the first times I went to bath and closed the door he started to meow a lot and felt sad, so I started bathing again with the door open and now he loves it, he loves to drink the water form my leg when I'm done, and now I can't deny that to him lol. Just thoguht it could be weird.

Probably some won’t believe me when I say that I have had 5 different cats that loved to be vacuumed. It all started out kinda by accident. It definitely helped with grooming!
I used to vacuum my cat K.C. I had a long hose on it so it was far away, but still...cool cat. Still miss her.

I have two cats, they’re completely the opposite of one another.
One cat hates everyone, loves milk, doesn’t like being touched at all (other than a few random times), prefers having near his tail pet and is just grumpy,
The other loves everyone, he likes when I lay him in my chest and pet his face as he sleeps, he prefers water over milk, loves having his face pet, goes out of his way to find me just so I could pet him and is just a happy cat.
Same with me.. I have two cats.. The one is like to be touched.. She even meow and ask me to pet her.. But the other one, she doesn't like to be touched.. She will lick the part of her body that I touched.. I think she doesn't like the smell of human on her body
My 4 cats definitely dictate the routine in my house I love them like my own kids!
