- This unbelievable issue is one of the best in my last 35years. The Minidisc Player don't want to insert the Minidisc into. What happened? can this repair come to the end or is it impossible to repair this fine mechanic thing from Sony? The Sony engineers are made a special part inside the Player. Hello Christoph I'm sorry for the late answer in case of my doing in the back - so you said. This is correct that need a lot of work in the background and for sure the spar-parts are one of the biggest issues where to get it in which time and what for a price etc. Thank you for watching! weakbit

I only would like to show to all how you can repair simple your HiFi hardware. In case of the most simple mechanic issue or electronic issue it is also to find out what happened. And if not ask here or others here this is also easy. thank you for watching weakbit
Thank you very much for this great video and repair ! :) I have a fantastic Yamaha Minidisc MDX 793, unfortunately it can read and play but it does not write the music and the TOC. Not writing the data onto the disc. If you write direct to a Minidisc the Laser melt (or hold the disc in a light liquid form) during the electromagnet are writing the data into this material. What we can measure is the current from the Laser so do the temperature occur? and/or the magnetic field is to low. Lets have a watch and please report here if you are having questions. Other I think this is the power-supply maybe there is the fail? Have luck! I hold you the thumbs! weakbit

Thank you so much for your quick answer and that you try to help. Unfortunately I have to say I am lost! I cannot measure it, I have not an oscilloscope and I have no knowledge about electronic repairs. I have some fine older Yamaha HiFi machines, I was able to repair some mechanical problemes, but electrical things are not my issue... I know for the MDX 793 what the magnetic head is doing and the laser is doing. I have also read that sometimes a common issue is damage to the write magnet above the head and that the distance between head and disc is sometimes incorrect. It is sad to keep this 793 just as a player. Have you perhaps interest to have a look on it? If yes, how could it be possible? Kind regards, Christoph
Hello Christoph - I'm very happy that you requesting me about a look on your HiFi machines and it is Super that you are watching my Video - but in that case I must say I do no repair or have a look on machines in that case that I've so much to do with all this stuff here. It is easy to tell I organize a lot of machines to repair it on the front of the Video camera and reorder spar-parts in all over the world so I must check that up then my day is short in that case that I have so much different types and models here in my show. I'm very sorry to tell you that is not possible to repair also for other and I know you need help in case of your issue. I don't know where is your hometown but please there must be a service for HiFi and or TV-sets that can be ask better and easier and cheaper. Thank you for understanding this situation. weakbit
Hello Weakbit, two weeks ago I told you I have a fantastic Yamaha Minidisc MDX 793, it can read and play but unfortunately it does not register the music and the TOC on an empty minidisc. After I copy the music, the machine writes the TOC for a long time but then the display shows "Disc empty". I cleaned the magnetic head and the laser carefully but the result is the same.
Have you an idea?

First of all search and download this file hfe_yamaha_mdx-793_service_en.pdf there you can see the signal ways. There are some service menu and this can fix the focus etc. I don't know if you have a oscilloscope so it is easy to measure the FM packet that come down from the Laser-Pickup. Site 31 show the IC1101 RF-Signal Processor there you should measure a signal that looks like a FM packet. (this I'm missing to send here a picture). After you have analyze this so answer here and maybe I can say something. Thank you for questioning. weakbit
it is helpful that you buy a meter for example the UNI-T139B find it at Amazon for ~€32 and it is in it's quality a good meter. To start your hobby measurement carrier and repair in your hobby time. The magnetic head is only for writing the bits into the disc. During writing the Laser warm up the disc in the beam spot to the melt/liquid point and the electromagnetic field turns the bit in position like the data should be. Now the melt/liquid flip back and cool out and so the data can read from the laser reflected bit stream and there is the play function. That the distance from the electromagnetic head make so much sense I think this is a story. weakbit
