Winter truck camping by a river

- Found a nice spot by a river to camp. Opted to sleep in the back of the pickup rather than set up a tent. I set the diesel heater up to heat the inside of the canopy and it got quite warm in there.
Gorgeous weather! Thanks for posting.

Awesome, thanks for bringing us along
@@SQWIB Thanks for watching.
Beautiful site, we will be camping in Washington in Aug for a couple of weeks. Nothing like camping by a river and with those wonderful trees, and how cool that was that you could get the wood right by camp! Thanks for the video!
@@mkramme The river spots are a little harder to come by in August unless you’re there during the week days. I hope you have a great trip here.
very nice adventure once again, thank you ! Not much snow anymore eh ? Almost has a feel of late winter early spring . But you might be in the middle of some severe weather and plenty of snow right now according to the weather forecast ? cheers from all melted New Jersey, waiting for our new storm system with (plenty of ?) snow next Saturday, we shall see about that
@@positiveattitudebymichusa Yup there was no snow (unfortunately). Still a bit chilly, we had some clear weather for about 3 weeks and the usual snowy spots were barren. The snow has arrived now though, I went back to that spot and it finally looked like winter out there.
Got that tree like you were aiming for it!🤣. Nice trip once again Scott.
@@goldfinger180024 🤣 yup, if there’s one tree, I’ll probably hit it.
@ 🤣🤣🤣
Epic campsite & video!! 👏🙌👏🙌
@@ourpnwadventures Thanks and thanks for watching and commenting.
Subscribed brother great video cheers 🍻👍Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks, much appreciated.
I like your setup. I think I’d give myself more room for sleeping
Thanks. I tried this once before and it seemed to work pretty good. Most of the time with this pickup I just tent camp. I have another pickup that’s a bit roomier to sleep in.
Bonus footage lol. I wondered why you were drying your shoes and socks by the fire earlier in the video. Now I know 😎
🤣 Yup, I normally have flip flops in the truck but took them out before this trip.
Nice spot to camp Scott, I love camping on the river. The Vevor looks like its working out pretty good for ya.👍🏽
@@godsbackcountryoverland Thanks, yup the Vevor did great, it was actually way warmer than I anticipated.
Fritos corn chips work great as a fire starter too
The thing about camping near a river is that it’s much colder than if you weren’t
Yes very true, that cool air is nice in the summer but very chilly in the winter.
SCENIC LANDSCAPE, THANKS FOR SHARING, SCOTT HELICOPTERS LOOKING FOR BIG FOOT ❤
@@johnpeddicord4932 The helicopter may have been looking for Bigfoot, may he was hiding under the truck the whole time and I never knew it.
Very entertaining video and a beautiful campsite. Thank you for a job well done here. Was the axe that you used to split the firewood a Fiskars splitting axe? Enjoy the outdoors, see you on your net video. Thanks again.
@@campfire52 Thanks, I believe the splitting axe is a gerber which is owned by Fiskars. I’ve had that axe for at least 15 years.
@@scottalpine I have a Fiskars that looks identical to yours except it has an orange handle. Awesome splitting axes. Fiskars and Gerber represent very good quality. Thank you.
@ Yup I think they are basically the same thing. Definitely holds the test of time.
❤need to camp there❤
@@venturececena6727 We can make that happen.
Very relaxing video. I'd love to go stay in that spot when I move to WA this summer. Any chance you could share where it is?
Thanks. Typically I never share spots but this is by a campground and fairly easy to find. It’s right by Ranger Creek Campground off of forest road 7160. It’s a popular area in summer so best bet for this spot is in the middle of the week.
@@scottalpine Thanks, Scott! Hope to see you out there sometime!
When you think you got enough wood, get twice as much more. I think I know that spot
@@rdulaneyjr Yup. I only brought back three smaller pieces this trip. It’s always better to have too much firewood rather than too little.
That's what I taught to my Scouts, I would say when you think you got enough wood, get more, then double that. Same with tinder.
Nice campsite, I like a spot by a river, bigger views. I would have been a little concerned about a helicopter flying over my camp like that. I would have been worried that someone was lost or, worse, someone had "escaped" and they were looking using infra red.
@@easycamperdandog Yup, I always like to go for the bigger views. The helicopter was weird but I was thinking it was probably training flights. I was not too far from a ski resort and close to a small mountain runway that is closed in the winter months for normal travel but is used for training and emergencies. Ranger Creek Airport. If you’re ever down this way it’s great camping access in the winter but way too crowded in the summer.
👍😎🇨🇦
