I hunted and shot tournament with compound bows for , iam to old to remember. then I started making my own self long bows and got rid of the training wheels and became a warrior in the woods . it’s wonderful to make your own equipment and put food on the table. nana and papa aka the hunter wishing you well.
I love the absolute best of everything ❤ I'm your typical woman, 👌I'm exaggerating a tiny when I say typical woman. If I invest in bow right now, I know for sure my husband and kids will send me to a hospital, they will think I'm completely off my rockers!
Actually they will appreciate the gift
Bows are actually alot of fun and good used ones are aplenty especially at local pawn shops I picked up a PSE stinger that was fully loaded at the beginning of the scandemic for $300 out the door with a slew of arrows quiver and decent release I shoot it daily just for fun and to relax😁
Take archery lessons (if you haven’t already) then it will make more sense to them.
I've been shooting bows since I was 14, and now 51, and can still hit a dime from 40 yards. All Bear products and actually shoot them more than my firearms. It's cheaper, silent and deadly, plus the Gov will never try and take them. Anything that you can eat, can be taken with a bow.
Yeah and I can shoot a ballistic missile down with mine
I agree, and I actually have a Bear compound Bow...I think it's 80-100 lb draw. And it's a metal bow.
Recurve is better overall. More arrows are available to lower poundage bows. Most are take down, they’re lighter weight, more reliable, easier to string if your string breaks. Good luck with your heavy compound with specific arrows when your next to impossible to install string breaks.
Crossbow is decent too. There are minis that are not a toy.
We would make excellent neighbors !! 👍🇺🇸 !!!
A compound bow is overly complex, once it breaks chances are you can't repair it. Would rather get a recurve or selfbow
Plus people who can't own a firearm a bow if a great alternative I have a compound and recurve bow great weapon and tool
Just a comment from the peanut gallery but I use graphite arrows. After you make a shot on big game it will either be perfect or broken, no in between. Also it is slightly more likely to completely penetrate & exit.
I've thought about a compound bow or a cross bow and start practicing. I know some guys only hunt with bows.
That scope is like 10$ hahah
70 likes and no thumbs down. Peace from the UK. My bow even has a name.
Look at the instant legolas on joerg sprave channel. It is an attachment for compound bow that holds 6 arrows and it auto reloads the bow by drawing the bow, can shoot 6 arrows in under 10 seconds if needed. He also shows the cobra Rx adder tactical xbow that has a 6 bolt magazine that loads a bolt just by pulling a lever back, can get a shot off every couple of seconds.
I never thought about a compound bow I'm going to get one. it can't be heard like a gun can. Thank you sir
Here is a good deal that I found on Amazon amzn.to/3sKSE4U (affiliate link)
Get yourself a high powered pcp air rifle. I can honestly say my .25cal Benjamin marauder makes significantly less noise than my compound bow does. It's not deer legal in my state but I have killed hogs and coyote with it so I have no doubt about it's ability on deer.
@@bowlofrice8 u might kill a deer with an air rifle but why take that low chance when your Hungary and ammo is limited with some bow and arrow making skills resupply is guaranteed
Haw about crossbow? Isn't better
Very good for not shooting for 7 months!
I know you won't go hungry.
I can not hit the broad side of a barn from the inside with a compound bow, but I do use a crossbow & air rifles [and I can make my own pellets in the field if I need to]
Recurve. Compounds (bow or crossbow) take wayyyy too much maintenance. You have to change the string on a crossbow like every 500 shots, and without a bowyer and a bow press it's basically impossible to do that with a compound...
Another option is black powder pistols and rifles, and the government doesn't know you have it.
@Danny Joe then they would have to change the laws all the way back before 1898, and make a lot of innocent people felons.
Can't find those right now. Been trying to get an 1858 since last year. Always out of stock.
@Danny Joe When you think its time to bury your guns, its time to use them.
Great topic for like minded people. I literally just got mine out a month ago to have it tuned up and bought new arrows for the same reasons. Been practicing ever since. The compound is definitely overlooked prep. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video. A bow/arrows accessories should be next in my "tool box". That is where a weakness or void is within.
I own 2 compound bows both are Rambo 1st Blood Pt2 Style ones an actual vintage compound bow and the other is new style with cutouts on the riser lookup my videos
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU and also a 🤔🤔 Air Rifle GUN/ Breakdown Barrel GUN are Pump TOO
Hi, thanks for the video. Lots of good info in here. Quick question, would you say a compound bow is better than a crossbow in a wilderness survival situation? at 5:12 you mention crossbows but dont go into it. I know compounds are less expensive than crossbows typically but I wanted your opinion.
I dont like compound bows cuz i cant fix them, being able to build your own bow and arrows is also incredibly valuable unlimited resupply and arrows r expensive
A crossbow is also good and easier to shoot for older people that can’t draw a bow back
Just found your channel, love this video, and totally agree, if shtf I'd prefer my arrow over a gun for the simple reason I can make arrows and I can't make bullets. Having kit you can maintain yourself is deff the key for prepper. And full respect and admiration for the compound bow, those things boggle my brain and look so complicated I have so much respect for people who shoot them ✌ every Prepper deff needs a bow 🖤
Quiet, will put meat on the Table also. and nobody will even know You put something down 👍💯
Wolverines!!! Lol. I had a guy tell me I was basically crazy for bringing up bows on a SHTF guns. I don't think he knew how dangerous they can be because 🏹 guys are awesome at camo tactics
Totally agree!! I tell people that I can run out of ammo, but I can make arrows if I have to.
I have a compound bow, a crossbow. Not long ago I also bought Cold Steel CheapShot.
Now, and you may think I'm crazy, I'm looking at Liberty Bow because it is small and light even though a bit expensive.
I would also suggest getting a fletching jig. It is cheap, but will help to make my arrows if I have to.
If you need to restring a compound bow you had better have the right equipment
Put some kind of silencer on that string. It will make it quieter and save the life of the string and limbs.
Yeah, I know. Just had new string put on it and not added those yet.
Don't we all have that cousin who's just lil bit better at something than we are? Man you really make me miss my kin. God keep them close🙏
Why not a crossbow? It's more powerful and accurate. Also easier to learn as a beginner.
A crank helps as they have a high pull weight. 140 and up.
Crossbows are for women
Simple fix to bent arrows. Buy carbon fiber arrows and you'll reuse them for years to come. I have at least 100 arrows for the compound and 200 for my crossbow. Never leave yourself short.
A bad ass sling shot is no joke ...bows are quiet.... guns are loud
You need a faster FPS bow and a higher poundage to shoot bigger game if I saw your arrow that is way to slow to hunt big game.
Bee spray and a machete 🍻
I think people who don't practice all the time might be better with a crossbow or even a good pellet rifle for small game. A lot of archers buy a new bow every year or two.
Love it i have a couple of compound bows and i absolutely love it...its my favorite way to hunt deer but the dude that consistently can take squirrels should be making him some money with skill like that...im in your class of shooters ...fair to decent shots but practice practice practice then practice more and ppl will be get deadly and they are quiet....good piece of equipment to have.
I shoot bows more then a gun and very good shot it's like throwing darts to me
Compound bows are essential
Better than rocks everyone can grab those.
They are expensive as a rifle these days but I do agree with you. I would recommend a uni cam bow though. And make sure that you have the correct sized arrows for the poundage of your bow! I shot competition for lot's of year's so I know bows.... Great video 👍
What is a uni cam bow?
@@samtabulous7295 it's exactly a unicam bow. Round wheel on top and a cam on the bottom. Mathew's we're one of the first to come out with this year's ago. In doing that you don't need to be concerned about the timing of the cam's turning at the same exact time which can. Be detrimental for grouping arrows consistently.
There will be absolutely no wild game to hunt after SHFT(mby for the first5-6 months). Not long time ago we hunted wood bisons to extinction, with much fewer rifles and hunters than today. Also compound bows require high maintenance and are very hard to set up.
Hard to set up? I don't think so and animals are not the only thing you can hunt with them
Small game will still be plentiful, actually during the first great depression most the deer disappeared. But, there was plenty of small game. At least that is what my family elders told me. They were in a small town, not a big city so there was no assistance, so they had to make ends meet hunting, trapping, trout lines, trading goods for goods, growing gardens and raising animals. Rabbits reproduce damn quick, and a few yard birds will provide you eggs.
Also good when you need to be silent...
Great video, my friend! Enjoyed watching, the survival tools are terrific! And the surrounding nature is amazing. Cheers from Russia, brother, and welcome to my channel about special Russian bushcraft tips and hacks! Regards, Yuriy!
What about a crossbow??
Compound bow is excellent idea. I am left handed do u think that would be a problem finding a bow? Thanks MD. Alan R.
You might have to buy a new one... however, you might be lucky and find one used...
Shooting a bow is like a laser , I am way better with a bow than pistol.
What song/artist starts at 5:45 ?
That sounds like good advice..after the ammo is no longer accessible.
Should be a recurve bow instead of a compound bow if used in long term survival. Recurve bow is easier to repair, arrows shafts can be made from wood, nocks and broadheads can be made from common found materials. Modern compound bow with the ellipse cam wheels can not safely launch wooden arrow shafts due to the compound releasing of energy from the cams while older round cam wheel compound bows can do it safely. Also modern compound bow require specialized equipment to tune and maintain them unless you are into the hobby of building or modifying compound bows and you have the skill and tools.
Compound bows are so superior to the recurve it's night and day. Faster more accurate smaller package to carry around . I can stick a 🎯 at 100 yards and I'm not even that good of a shot
@@mynameisnobody5462 You're correct about the compound bow that it's more powerful and more accurate. Its biggest weakness is the slower rate of fire and limited types of arrows that can be used and in an emergency where resources are limited repairing bow and building lost or broken arrows can be difficult. Lower weight of recurve bow and the take down models are the strength of modern recurve bows.
@@googlesbitch good points . I just never found them accurate. I spose there are folks that religiously shoot them but a new guy can pick up a compound bow and get fairly good with it in no time at all
@@mynameisnobody5462 Compound bows are easier for the first timer to learn and is easier to aim with since the principle is the same with aiming a rifle. This is the main lure of compound bows over the traditional bow. A well designed recurve bow with the ability to add features to improve aiming and other desirable features helps to make it practical for hunting and other purposes and the biggest lure is the low cost compared to a compound bow.
Well one good thing..there's no arrow shortage and they're silent..well ok that's 2 things..lol.. Hope you're feeling better
Yeah, feeling better today. Thank you for asking.
This was one of the first things I did. I have a crossbow too that is able to take moose or anything 300IB +. Crossbow didn't come like that stock. I upgraded it to be effective in SHTF and minimalize the amount of energy it takes to track. That crossbow gets passthrough and causes massive wounds. Game doesn't get far and I don't have to track it most of the time. The crossbow is firing 617grain bolts with very aggressive broadheads at 370fps. I keep telling people to take up archery and save some cartridges when they hunt. You may also consider a recurve crossbow or bow. Less moving parts, easier to maintain with little setup especially if you're on the move.
Love my compound bow! I get in the woods early and stay later in the season.
@@Striperguide_pro same, where I live you can use a crossbow during the archery, muzzleloading, and firearms seasons.
Yes, a compound bow. Useful thing. It is good, reusable and quiet... Can use this for zombie hunting 😊
How heavy is it?
Quiet 2.
Great idea. Got a birthday coming up.
Maybe you'll get one.
A lot of good bows available, most hunters are switching to crossbow. Check out Cold Steel cheap shot broadheads, best deal out there.
M.D. Hood .
I grabbed a beautiful Kentucky rifle for muzzleloading season.
I like the music playing in the background awesome who's the artist thanks M.D God bless you and your family
I've got more money tied up in my Martin jaguar compound now than I do in 2 of my rifles.
It can get very pricey
Yeah, it can. I have about $250 in mine but I bought it used...
PSE is a great value bow maker who've been around a long time. Bear Archery & Diamond Archery are other value brands. You can go to any Cabelas, Scheels, or other outdoor store and buy their store brand arrows for very cheap, typically around $30 for 6 arrows. Mechanical broadheads like the "Rage" brand cause devastating wound channels. They typically run around $30-40 for a 3 pack. But arrows and broadheads can be reused if not damaged. I would recommend purchasing a range finder especially for when your just starting out. With a little practice a person can be very effective between 10-40 yards and with a little more practice 40-70 yards is definitely achievable for the average person with a 70lb bow. Great video.
See I could have made it video MD When did we talk about this I think about last week lol good idea to refresh people though Good looking out I have a few comments from other people on this channel about suggesting the bow in they were cracking jokes Joke's on them
Yeah but you destroy your arrows with small game. Additionaly you better have a PERFECT ambush set up to try and aquire a firearm with a bow. 30 yard max rang vs 50 yard easy range. Its good to have but don't waste your money on a tool that is so minimally effective.
You can't use wooden arrows in a compound bow either which means resupply is as limited as firearms.
Try 100 yards on the compound bow and most people that hunt with bow are masters of camouflage. Deer are more aware that your dumb human stomping through the woods
@@mynameisnobody5462 no... no they really aren't. If I were in a tactical situation I doubt you could hit ANYThINH moving to far past 30. Meanwhile most people with some minor skill cam hit running targets at 100 yards with rifles. I trained extensively with both. I can hit a target on a range at 100 but that mean nothing when it's a two way range.
@@libertarianGO the bow was never meant to replace a rifle but it is viable out to 100 yards as you know because you have trained with one
@@mynameisnobody5462 no it really isn't. You drop and time of flight really does make it a 30 yard weapon. Try hitting a target that is moving at walking speed with your bow at 100 yards. If you can do that consistently you are very rare.
@@libertarianGO really ! A bow in my opinion is made for stationary targets out to 100 yards and as a bow hunter you are not walking around looking for a "firefight" it's more of a sniper type weapon
hay M.D. lucky gunny has ammo at ok price's 556 and 9mm
We have a 35 pound bow that will use just for squirrels in rabbit why cause that shit's fun
Nice. I've never shot one, looks like fun.
It is.
A great prep. And that's exactly where I got mine from, the paen shop. Decades ago. $40, a Bear, 70lb, adjustable sights. Counterweights, on line rear sight, the list goes on. Easily a $300 bow. If not more. I've taken 5 or 6 deer with it. Since then I have stripped all that stuff off it. Just really not necessary. Weight and junk. I wouldn't mind getting a wooden recurve now. Easy to break down and pack. Great shooting. Thank you
@@patriotpreacher43 wow you ain't kidding. Big too. Even in the suburbs.
Bows are great, sand bags stops bullets but arrows go trough the bags and you can shoot in ways that is impossible with a gun, there's an amazing guy on UA-cam called Lars Anderson and he has some of the most amazing videos and also check out The Slingshot Channel too he builds amazing weapon I think you'll get a kick out of it.
Good bow can provide nearly silent deterrent. Special tool for special situation.
Great suggestion, I do not have a bow, I do have a pellet gun.
But a bow is a excellent idea
Been bow hunting a few years now in ky gun season short if u wanna spend alot of time in the woods gotta b versatile
Crossbow is better. Easier for anyone to use with minimal training and more accurate.
Bows are better by far . You can shoot 5 arrows out of a bow before the crossbow can be recocked . Compound bows are easy to shoot with just minimum practice , line up the peep site with the red pin and let her fly
They’re even legal in Australia and we can’t have any firearms without a license 🇦🇺🇺🇸
Yep, i'm in Vic and looking at getting a compound bow. Apparently bow hunting is completely banned in Tassie though, hopefully that nonsense does not make it across Bass Strait!
I'll just call you M D Robin Hood.
I like it!
You should do a video on canning food.
Rambo used a compound bow too!
I was looking at them.
That’s a cool looking bow , good video
Great vid
Md do you hunt deer
Thank you
I love a silent kill...
Great video! I was wondering if you enjoyed bows like me. Recommend a Hoyt or a Bear. I have enjoyed archery since about 11yo. They are also a good workout and should learn how to build your arrows since some of the fletching is cheaply done!! The whole bow should work like a system. You should also put a peep sight on ur bow to improve accuracy if you can!! Good job!!👍
I agree about the peep sight...
I can send you a pic of mine if you like. I recommend drilling out the peep hole with a 1/8 drill bit to allow more light in it. They don’t teach that in school, but it really improves performance. I trap mine onto the string with green waxed dental floss too!👌
“Frap” or wrap onto string is what I meant-not too hard to do with a piece of the floss
First
Thank you
Nice
👍🥃
Get a recurve.
I don't want a recurve. I like a compound bow.
@@MDCreekmore maybe one as a back up. Might be a pain in the rear end to re-string or repair a compound
@@robertboutin6232 you are correct about that.
@@MDCreekmore I have compounds as well they are awesome
Compound is the way to go.
i have 180 lb cross bow it will put an arrow threw a metal barrel. I have to use a cocking device to cock it tho; which is not good if i need to make a split decision. There is a gun that shoots arrows, uses Co2 to fire the arrow, those are nice also. I might get one if i can get more Gov cheese,
What c02 gun are you taking about that shoots arrows?

Have you seen the cobra Rx adder tactical crossbow? 6 bolt magazine, rapid reload, just pull a leaver back and the bolt is on the drawn string, can get off a shot every couple of seconds.
Compound bows. So your going to buy a full set of tools and jigs to keep it running? If you break a string, your day is done.Does this make sense in a survival situation. A recurve of long bow would seem better for small game. Ever try snap shoot on a moving target with a compound?
I'll stay with the stick and string. Follow the K.I.S.S. principle.
Lol , compound bows are deadly out to a 100 yards can you say the same for the stick and string
@@mynameisnobody5462 Not responsibly. But I'll take fifty yards and perfect reliablity. Long bows are deadly out to 300 yds IF you hit. Ask the French.
@@frankmorris4790 I shoot 100 yards quite a bit and hit one of those yellow canvas target bags pretty much every time. There seems to be some myth that compound bows are fragile like a wine glass but that is not so . I have dragged mine around with me elk hunting and never an issue.
@@mynameisnobody5462 Thats terriffic! But if a string or cable fails you're done huh. And if you don't have the jig required to put it all back together, it's worthless. I reach into a pouch and pull out a new string.
Now having been a life long traditional archer I know that it is the odd day when a deer sized animal falls dead in it's tracks from an arrow. a hundred yards is a head start. If one is going to carry a tool as complicated and heavy as a rifle, and attempt to shoot at rifle ranges, one would be better served with a rifle. IMHO.
@@frankmorris4790 you can say the same for a rifle if you drop it you could break it. I don't understand the reasoning about breaking compound bows , it's just silly
