Ox King and Princess Iron Fan are the two characters other than the main characters I remember the most. Very much expected the family to show up. What GS did to the family was pretty twisted and sad. Always appreciate you and others making sense of the game's story. Also, as I was trying to get all the portraits, chapter 6 was when I REALLY felt bad... for all of ten seconds. 👍

this might be something that was just an artifact of the translation i read, but the scenes where Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and Sun Wo Kong interact always felt like peak sibling dialogue. sibling dialogue written by someone with siblings, where they know how siblings banter.

Exhausting all the horse soul dialogue actually hints you to do that and then come back to see him. And no, the secret boss' second area has a vase of a worm to upgrade your gourd. It’s actually benefit you if you opened up the gate in the first arena.
One more thing, If you pass the part where the spiky ball and Bajie fought and fell down the mountain, you need to go back to Emerald Palace shrine. From there just follow the road you'll eventually see the spiky ball fell next to a gate. That's where you can get the spirit of the spiky ball. FYI for someone who fought Bottom takes Top & Top takes Bottom wondering why there is no spirit to capture :D

Princess Iron Fan has always been my favorite character when I watched the 90s Journey to the West growing up. I always felt bad for her because she's just trying to keep her family together but they just weigh her down. I'm curious if she is different in the text.
The number 72 originated from the theory of the five elements(五行wu xing). 72 is the basic calculation number in the ancient Chinese calendar. It is also the highest realm of the changes of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements(五行wu xing). It does not mean the specific 72, but means infinite Transformations . So basically, Sun Wukong's 72 Transformations mean that he has the ability to transform infinitely.
many people think Wukong is weaker than red boy because he lost the fight, but in my opinion, Wukong lost is most likely because of a sneak attack at best. not to mention the kid was his sworn brother son, you dont go around and kill family member of your sworn brother like that, so he massively holding back during the fight. and even then, Bajie describe the fight as while they look equal in martial art, red boy was unable to go on the offense because he was too busy defending wukong attack. so if wukong really wanted, he could simply kill Red Boy before he got the chance to use his Samadi Fire, and that would be easy, but since he need to restraining himself, he cant do that. that is why he need help.
