Hi, Andrew! I wouldn’t call it inefficient at all. I would call it genius!!! Your OCD serves you well. When you consider the mess and the damage the cutting would have done to the interior of your home, I would call that genius. Think of all the clean up and repair you may have had to do if you cut inside. Kudos, Young Man!!!!!! Beautiful pine. The finish is outstanding.
I did pine tongue and groove on a 6 metre x 12 metre pitched roof in our sunroom. I watched your videos a few times before starting. The job turned out fantastic because your videos are so well done and easy to understand. It is our favourite room in the house now thanks to you posting the videos. Thanks for passing on the Knowledge. Cheers/ God bless - Steve Melbourne Australia.
Had a lot of videos to catch up on. The house is looking outstanding Andrew, and I absolutely love the ceiling! Alot of people use that color than turns the wood yellowish and I personally can't stand it. This looks so beautiful!
Andrewig looks Great. Y’all have some awesome ideas. When you finish with that it will be absolutely Beautiful. Once again love following your channel and I tell everyone about it so they will watch.
That is gorgeous !! It goes really well with wall paint color too. Poly is something that i have used before and it makes the colors of the wood come out really nice. You have put a ton of thought into his house and it shows. Great video, anxious to see the end results.
Hello from Siesta Key Florida See you have same problem, lots of us do. Get more done than most do before sunrise lol Glad I'm not the only one. It's are clock and its peaceful.
Hi Andrew love the colours on yr T & G. Love how nice it looks on yr ceiling. I'm admiring them from a far. Say hi 2 Tiffany n Bullet . Another job almost done . It's nice how u take the time 2 explain everything u do Andrew. Take care n b safe from Australia 🇦🇺 down under. I hope all yr dreams come true for 2022 n for years to come .
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW 🎈🎂🎊🎉🎁. I love Tiffany’s scenes of humor with you on the roof. I hope you had a wonderful day of fun and relaxing. God bless on another year old
I put the thin version inside my van, it warped on my ceiling, the wall stayed straight, reused a bit from my wrecked van. I love the look of pine, was in my grandparents home in the livingroom, New owner painted it all.
@@TKCL Too heavy in a vehicle. If I had my own home, my rooms would be covered, the old pine boards were not flat, I'll never forget my grandparents living room back wall. I wish I had sprayed mine before install, I've been brushing it on, gotta wear gloves, the ceiling has it running back over the handle, but the look is worth it, I like knots, cracks, I seek out wood with imperfections, that is the natural beauty of it all.
Great job!!!...that's some very high quality pine, almost #1 (#1 having no knots). I personally like it with the knots. Doing great work andrew!! Keep it up
That color of pine really makes the paint on the walls pop! You made an excellent choice! Hope you are having a good weekend there, we are snowed in up in Ohio , we got about 10 inches of snow in a 24 hour period. So glad to see the snow finally stop, now we have to dig out the cars!
You said it Andrew, it looks gorgeous and I'm sure Tiffany thinks so too!! I'm really proud of how far you have come on your house build !! You're so close and I am really excited for you both. Stay safe and God bless you both!!
That's gorgeous. interested to see what you do around the metal trusses. Told my wife tonight I want T&G Cypress in tray ceilings in living room and master when we build in 2 years. She said "we'll see"...she doesn't like the wood look. Funny girl...funny girl.....🤣
Kudos, I know that's a lot of work by yourself, looks great and good decisions cutting and spraying outside. I get excited when I see a notification of a new video!
Polycrylic ultra flat by minwax works great. I got 800 sq feet of coverage with a roller. Ultra flat hides imperfections better. Sand first and once again between coats. Rolling gets into wood better but spraying is much faster.
Looking good Andrew! Love the pine T&G and the satin. I agree, would not do any gloss on ceiling. 👍 Can’t wait to see ours up, but I have 2 more coats of polyurethane left. Ours is Pine Beetle kill T&G. Has more greys and reds.
looks great. A super quick way to cut all the light boxes out is using a router with a flush trim bit. Bit has a ball bearing on it that traces the box. super quick and precise. Ya I know its another tool to have to buy.
I AGREE!! Absolutely gorgeous! I’m not a big pine lover. I grew up with dark T&G pine lined hallways down our cannonball halls of our old Southern home. But yours, is perfection! Can’t wait to the completed look!
Yeah your right, the profile with the V groove, down the center gives the customer the choice of profile, one set-up on the stick- moulder, 2 styles, looks great, Take care
Love your attention to detail. I have used T&G , wished I had bought more. Also, I want to thank you for the tip with the Dewalt special, buying batteries and charger with the free tool, I got the jigsaw which I had wanted forever 😉
So beautiful! You made getting those tongue n groove boards look oh so easy. I know it's not. I had to use ratchet straps on mine and used up all the curse words I know. You sawed boards in the house!!!!! :) When you are done, your house is going to be a real show piece.
Beautiful!!!! Don't apologize for slow working, that's what we're used to, precision takes time!!! Poor Andrew, that tiny visible nail must be itching you:))))
That’s going to look nice when you get the entire ceiling finished. Smart move not to cut in the house as well. Fine saw dust gets everywhere when cutting as much wood as you will be cutting.
I would just skip the poly… I thought about playing my pine ceilings but then thought, “what am I protecting it from?” I just sold the house after 30 years, but not once did I scrub the ceilings. 30 long years of mellowing to an all natural color. It saved me a lot of work I would never had needed to do.
Mine came out great but I had to battle with my contractor about the stain. He insisted it did not need it. Many others said to stain it at least with a light coat to prevent fading or turning an orange color. I ended up hiring a guy to come in and stain it after the contractor finished. Mine looks fabulous. Wish I could post pictures here of it.
Looking good. How does it finish at the tip? What I was suggesting was to measure how many boards top to bottom so to match and then cut the bottom edge and give it an angle. That way you would not need to have a molding. But nice wood you chosen nice and thick. As well that v shape on the back it is more then most would know. One it takes weight down and if you was to cut in that center you can you that edge to match the groves on the edge if you was to flip it. As well the finish on both sides it is to keep the 2 sides to dry the same to avoid cracks and it also helps future moisture pass true
Still kicking around my finishing idea at the peak. The sheets rock is not perfectly smooth, so I felt trim would flex and hide gaps better than a board cut at an angle.
@@TKCL try a board next start. Might need a little bid of a fill with paintable silicone. But most might not... adding trim is easyer in a way but at the cost of wood....
Thanks for the video. It looks great. Maybe a fake mini beam made from the tongue and groove to finish the middle? One that is wider at the bottom of the beam than the top. You could install LED strips in there for an interesting effect. I have seen that done before. You were right not to do any of the major cutting inside. You would probably have had to set up one of those isolation tents like they do to remove asbestos to keep the saw dust out of everything.
@@TKCL no I am that that narrow gap between the tongue an groove. It would look like a short beam at the peak between the two sides. The trusses are beautiful. (Personally if money were not an issue I would want to build a castle from concrete, stone and steel like Andrew Camarotta did on this channel).
Could have went with 1 1/2 nails because you nailing 3/4 to 3/4 (1 1/2) with tongue 1/4 below when you include nail recess. Also a compact router with flush trim bit would do wonders to cut out those boxes. Though saw dust would be crazy! You also should/could have the boards 1” shorter than actual measurement. Trim should cover it.
I love the look, have to be honest with you OCD how could you start there, I do not have OCD but it would drive me crazy if the T&G does not match up between truss sections, You be sitting up there be able to see it every time. I would have started in the other truss section going outside wall to ridge and then ripped a started in the loft, at least the T&G would line up. Keep it up, love what you do.
That pine will act as a moisture sink and stabilizer in your house making it that much more comfortable. Maybe the pine is softer in terms of acoustics too vs hard reflective drywall. Looks amazing. Did ya seal the ends of the boards?
Looking good. Are you planning to cover up the steel trusses? I’ve seen an exposed timber cap over the trusses that looks phenomenal. Matches the tongue and grove pine. Just a thought.
Looks great, rip a filler piece the width you like with the proper angles to match the pitch for the top. It will fit tight like crown molding and finish it off. Finish the celing ( probably already have ) install counter tops and plumbing fixtures, have electric pulled and inspected for the CO by Feb 23rd, I win. Don't need the floor for CO. :-)
Not only did I learn about carsiding, I learned how the tip numbers work for my Graco sprayer. Nice job!
