In this video we're going to cover some of the top terms and concepts that any hyperbaric oxygen therapy practitioner really needs to know and be familiar with.
It’s important to understand these basic concepts not just for your own knowledge, but to also be able to explain them to your patients or other healthcare practitioners.
CONVERSION EQUATIONS
Here are the conversion equations I referred to for 3 of the most common units of measurement for pressure:
ATA to PSI = Subtract 1, multiply by 14.7
ATA to FSW = Subtract 1, multiply by 33
PSI to ATA = Divide by 14.7, add 1
PSI to FSW = Divide by .445
FSW to ATA = Add 33, divide by 33 (or Divide by 33 and Add 1)
FSW to PSI = Multiply by .445

I thoroughly enjoy watching these informative videos and have recently added this channel to my client list of must-see HBOT videos. I've been a Registered Nurse for 43 years and began my hyperbaric training in Charleston, S.C. in the early 80's. I currently operate 2 Perry 34 monoplace chambers in East Tennessee. I find I'm in agreement with most of the information presented in the videos thus far with the exception of there being only TWO contraindications to HBOT. I had a young woman walk into the clinic several months ago, curious to know more about the benefits of oxygen under pressure. While taking to her, she informed me of a rare genetic disease she had called LAM, which stands Pulmonary lymphoangioleiomyomatosis. A lung condition characterized by polyp-like blebs. This is definitely a contraindication to hyperbaric oxygen! Placing her in the chamber could result in the blebs bursting resulting in spontaneous pneumothorax! Another rare genetic multisystem disease known as Tuberous Sclerosis Complex is also contraindicated. TSC causes non cancerous tumors to develop in various parts of the body, including the spinal cord, eyes, LUNG, heart kidneys, and skin. I would definitely refer this person to get written approval from their personal physician or pulmonologist prior to placing them in a chamber! That being said, I strongly encourage anyone seeking improvement in health and overall disease-causing inflammation to consider hyperbaric oxygen therapy. I'd also like to suggest watching Dr. S

Whenever I meet someone who is interested in HBOT I point them to this channel. I love how thorough you are with all the details!
Thank you!! That means the world to me! 🙏
Do you think HBOT helps with dysautonomia? Or just Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? I have both. As such, how to know that our blood is not getting enough oxygen?
Thank you. I am going to look for an HBOT practice in my local area - any recommendations on what type of chamber or practice I should look for ?
An fda cleared chamber please!
