Musical merriment and cute creatures collide in this series from the dream team pairing Sanrio and Studio Bones (Ouran High School Host Club, Soul Eater)!
Set in the glamorous metropolis Tokyo Midi City, where music-and the dream of musical superstardom-is everything. Here, “battle of the bands” is more than just a teen rivalry: Dozens of ensembles compete for the honor of playing atop the city’s highest tower. When a Gothic Lolita-clad catgirl cutie named Cyan stumbles into the music world, she too is swept up by the dream of fame. After joining forces with three other colorful characters-bunnygirl honor student Chuchu, shy doggirl Retoree, and adorable sheepgirl Moa-the quartet becomes Plasmagica, the freshest band on the scene. Armed with special instruments, the girls face off with other bands striving for stardom, like the cool and passionate Visual Kei band Shingan Crimsonz, or the handsome pop idols Trichronika. Will the band find celebrity? Or are they doomed to be one-hit-wonders…
This has been the most adorable show I have ever watched. I seriously need to punch a wall.

I just realized that all the girls in the Music Room all have the same hairstyles as ChuChu ( Vocals & Guitar ) , Moa ( Drums ) , And Retoree ( Bass ) .
Thank god this didn't take place in high school like this opening made it look like.

After 7 years when I first watched this I wanted to rewatch it again
They had us in the first half with this opening, not gonna lie
I really hope everyone noticed how the music club looks almost exactly like Plasmagica.
I seriously wish I could find a full version of this version. The second version used for most of the series' opening is okay, but this is still better IMO.

I like this show, it's odd because I shouldn't like at all. It does get a tad bit of too much hate. Nonetheless it's still a beautifully animated show, I'm not into idol nor moe music shows but this is still fun to watch.

CJAdams97 I've been reading online that the CGI is freaking awful but from what I've seen it's better than the crap we've had for years. The way it transitions from CGI to 2D is "weird". I don't get that.

Cyan's energy in this song is incredibly infectious, and I can't help but do a little dance to the rhythm every time the opening plays.
Always been a sanrio fan since laid my eyes on My melody, kuromi, jewelpets Ruby , Unico, Cinnamonroll and llornomannic, pompompurin, charmmy kittu, soo many more! 😍 Now i have a best (NeW) husbando, Aion and Yaiba!💕

The animation cuts in this first op are so great. I would have loved if all the performances were in 2d, though I loved the CGI too!

I like the music in this show. Rock on! I see this show as a sister show of Samurai Jam-Bakumatsu Rock. They both center on places where music is the end all be all. I've never seen K-On. Did that show have people going to another dimension where animals live and music rules all? If not then I can't see it being a version of K-on watered down or not.
Kinda weird that they used blender to make the cat avatars could’ve used CGI but I guess CGI wasn’t as good 5 years ago as it is now

You mean Moa? The alien girl? She's the drummer for Plasmagica. The one on the keyboard is possibly another Myumon or high school.

MissFailSauce yes and no. This is episode 1's OP, and the actual plot doesn't take place in the school the main character goes to, but a different dimension.

dv2244 not sure on dub, but simulcast means they put it on the air the same day it's on air in Japan. no having to fansub or wait forever to find it.

Once she got sucked into her phone, the show turned to a generic anime with fighting, boys, girls, antagonists, boobs, etc. It had the potential to be a great slice-of-life and not this action trash.
