  • Hi guys! This baby blanket is sweet, simple and perfect for beginners. All you need to know how to do is knit and purl and you will be on your way to making your very own blanket! If you’re intimidated, don’t be! I will show you step by step how to cast on, knit, purl, mark the borders, bind off and weave in your ends. 😉
This is a very forgiving pattern so you can use any type of medium worsted what yarn you’d like. I’m using Impeccable Yarn by loops and threads. I prefer acrylic yarn for baby blankets because acrylic yarns tends to be a little fuller and you can toss them into the wash!
    Materials:
-3 skeins of Impeccable yarn by loops and threads. Each skein is 285 yds. You can use any medium worsted yarn you’d like just make sure you have enough yardage
    -5.0 mm needles with a 24” or 32” cord
    -2 stitch markers
-A tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Dimensions: Finished blanket is 30” wide and 36” in length
    Abbreviations:
    RS: Right Side
    WR: Wrong Side
    K: Knit
    Instructions:
Using your 5.0 mm needles cast on 130 stitches. Place a stitch marker after the first 10 stitches and before the last 10 stitches. The first 10 stitches and last 10 stitches will always be knit in order to create a garter stitch border. Working Garter stitch means you are knitting every row.
Knit 12 rows (Garter stitch) to create the top edge of your blanket. Then proceed to the body of your blanket.
    Body:
    1. Knit (RS)
    2. K10, purl to the last 10 stitches, K10 (WS)
    3. Knit (RS)
    4. K10, purl to the last 10 stitches, K10 (WS)

    11. K10, purl to the last 10 stitches, K10 (RS)

Knit until your baby blanket measures 34 inches from the cast on edge, or to your desired length. Make sure that you end on row 9.
Knit 12 rows (Garter Stitch) for the top edge of the blanket.
Bind off, weave in ends and enjoy!
