Halloween H20 is iconic! I feel like it’s truly a 90’s time capsule and brings me back to when I was a kid! The Faculty also has this same effect for me
I think Laurie breaking the gate opener and screaming, “MICHAEL!!” was so powerful! She was pretty much saying, “One of us is gonna die tonight, buddy!”
It sure did. If they were gonna undo the Michael Laurie sibling thing, I thought oh, maybe they have something even more clever and interesting than that whole thing all for it to “end” the way it did
"This one does everything the new one tried and failed at." At the end it's all a matter of taste of course, but in my opinion new trilogy nailed big time few aspects H2O is missing - Myer's portryal/look/maks, overall autumn atmosphere and good score. New trilogy - like it or not - also went in some new directions we haven't seen in Halloweens so far. Over the top bonkers slasher opera with Myers winning - Kills, and super emo romance coming of age slasher that truly kills Myers - Ends. Cheers
There was a version that aired of FX in 2003 that had extended scenes and deleted scenes added and somehow it was better. Though the extended scenes used scenes already in the movie so it seemed a little annoying a few times but I prefer this version, if only it featured all the violence of the R rated version
Now we need John to come back as the son Laurie never mentioned because he and her had a fallen out and Michael surprises people because he actually had a lover nurse in the mental hospital and she was a super freak that was obsessed with Michael and one night when he was a kid like young adult. He attacked another patient and got tied up and locked away for the rest of the night. So the crazed nurse come in and where she's so obsessed with him she rapes him in a way because he's Michael, and not a social type cat, so he froze and let it happen guess what? She became pregnant . Now Laurie didn't tell her family about Michael being her brother or her grand daughter that she has a uncle. And in H20, hes never mentioned much but she did say John's dad was a methadone addict so the daughter was living with him at that time. I think it could work then Laurie finds out Michael has a son and he can't stop thinking about Killin and he's not social or anything he speaks at times but has that thing like his dad. The legend and legacy passes to Audrey Myers aka Michael Audrey Myers Jr. Tell me it isn't 🔥 🔥 I'ma beast wit the story's man
Yesss, saw this in theaters in high school! And yes, we called it Halloween water 😂 I grew to appreciate it over the years. H20 is one of the best Halloween movies in my opinion.
My mom & I snuck into I Know What You Did Last Summer over Thanksgiving break 1997! We paid to see Devil’s Advocate but snuck into IKWYDLS…and it was MOM who peer pressured me into doing it 😂😂
Zack, the restroom scene opens up by showing that the car that Michael got from JGL has a blown tire. He was just looking for another ride cause he didn't know how to change a tire lol
I think his point is that entire portion of the movie could have been erased and it would not have affected the plot of the story at all. From the flat tire to stealing the other car, it was all just filler.
This is the first Halloween movie that I ever saw so it holds a special place in my heart even with all of it's flaws - CGI mask, anyone? I always have a fun time when I watch it and it's one of my favorites in the franchise. As always, thanks for the great content, love you guys!♥
This film doesn’t get the respect it deserves. It’s genuinely scary. If you only had the original 78 film and this in the entire franchise, the franchise would be perfect
Excellent excellent excellent guys! One of my favorite episodes yet. Halloween and Scream are my favorite franchises and you both never disappoint with these episodes. H20 is top 5 Halloween movies for me. I will admit it is mostly because of JLC killing it and pure nostalgia. Michael is rough in this one aside from opening scene.
Halloween H20 always felt like it started with the best intention. The nostalgia is high when I watch it. Stand out moments are certainly Jamie Lee’s performance. I heard an interview with Quentin Tarantino where he stated she should have at least been nominated for an Academy Award. With the multiple timelines of Halloween where this ranks depends on my mood. Recently it is higher as I’ve been in a nostalgic mood. In terms of the picker: tough choice. As I never assume the killer is truly dead in a slasher franchise (except Scream) I will have to go with Will. Though I do wish they would have went all in and let Laurie get that victory that Resurrection shamelessly stole back.
I'm pretty sure Kevin Williamson was just following an Akkad edict that you can't kill Michael. And according to the (not always reliable) Jamie Lee Curtis, Williamson did a page one rewrite of pretty much the entire script but was uncredited. Everything after the opening with Nurse Marion I think was majority Kevin Williamson.
I love H20, it’s a little short in runtime but has a good pace to it nonetheless and this is by far Jamie Lee Curtis’ strongest performance in a Halloween movie, she’s absolutely badass. Best ending too. Some soon to be big names in it as well such as Michelle Williams, Josh Hartnett, Joseph Gordon Levitt etc. 1. Halloween 2. H20 3. Halloween 2 4. Halloween 4 5. Halloween 2018 6. Halloween 3 7. Halloween 6 8. Halloween Ends 9. Halloween Kills 10. Halloween 5 11. Halloween Res 12. Rob Zombie H1 13. Rob Zombie H2
This is why I've always thought the 'sister' arc was genius. It gave Halloween scope and depth for more films with the family drama of it all. Otherwise it just felt like there was "just no story", like Carpenter himself, said. I haven't finished the podcast yet, but I'm wondering if you both have any thoughts on the snobby elements from some of the Halloween fan base? I think of all the horror franchises, Halloween seems to have the most snobby-like fans within.
Great stuff. I actually preferred that Michael did not kill the people in the bathroom. It made me not know who would and would not be attacked. H2, admittedly one of my favorites, suffers from "by the numbers" kills where everyone we meet is killed off in the order we meet them.. No real tension untill the fantastic 3rd act.
They could’ve very well done this movie and still even keep the Jamie Lloyd storyline in tact honestly. Laurie going into hiding and having a son and having guilt over the daughter she left behind only for Michael to get to her would’ve been fine
I remember having a general knowledge of the Halloween franchise and had seen a few of them but streamed H20 as a kid with my sister and neither of us had seen Halloween II either. So the casual reference to Michael being her brother between Laurie and John was mindblowing to me at the time 😂 Oh how naive of little me
I dig the orchestral version on the theme. The album by John Ottman named "Portrait of Terror" was the first (mostly) unused score I've ever bought. I thought it sounded fantastic, much like Gabriel Yared's Troy. Marco Beltrami's Scream was also kind of offbeat and experimental for a horror movie score so I don't understand the reluctance from the studio.
Haha, the chucky franchise going straight to video after seed….both Curse and Cult of Chucky were filmed in Winnipeg. Why do dying franchises and endless Hallmark Xmas movies come to Winnipeg for filming?
I still like to think that Halloween 1,2,4,5,6 and 7 are in the same timeline. Obviously 8 shouldn’t be in any timeline. 3 is the home dimension, where the Halloween Universe was created. Rob Zombie is an alternate Universe. H40 trilogy is an alternate timeline.
My only gripe with that is this: if H2 is part of that timeline, where are the burn scars on Michaels hands in H20? He had burnt hands in 4,5,6 and if H20 could be part of that timeline, his smooth unburnt hands don’t make sense.
"I grew up in Langdon, and even there, we knew the stories - the legends of the mid-west bogeyman. Michael Myers, the little boy who killed his sister, Judith, on Halloween night. Exactly fifteen years later, he escaped and slaughtered over a dozen people. They told everyone he was dead, but they never caught him, never found a body. As children, we even believed he wouldn't die. There were always whispers, whispers that became screams when summer gave way to fall."
I watched this movie as a child and here in brazil in the portuguese dubbing they put the same voice actress to both janet leigh and the security guy's wife character so i grow up thinking that janet leigh's character was the security guy's wife just found out years later that it was not the case when i watched the movie in english but in my head canon she is the security guy's wife 😅
I thought it was h20 cause it’s 20 years later lol and I’m not young lol I never even understood why there’s never mention of her daughter thought that was Weird
Enjoy listening to the podcasts but have one small gripe with the videos. Watching both camera feeds side by side is equivalent to having on a set of glasses with the left lens (Eddie's camera) coming in crystal clear and the right lens (Zach's camera) coming in ultra foggy (washed out). Simply find it distracting to the point of being unable to watch the videos for very long and would rather listen to them. Zach's primary channel camera looks like great DSLR quality and this channel it looks like an old webcam ran in some software with a bokeh effect applied. With the blurred background further diminishing the quality of the feed compared to Eddie's camera quality. This may seem trivial or come off as being nitpicky. But know that you guys are both technically inclined enough to correct this minor mishap to meet a certain criteria of quality control. Just trying to help out is all and look forward to future podcasts.
I personally felt like this was a Lifetime movie but with Michael Myers as just a background character that is just randomly there as the killer lol didnt actually feel like a Halloween movie.
Probably because there is a long buildup, some quick but iconic teen deaths, then a very quick third act that doesn’t quite go for it fully. The film should have been 20-25 mins longer.
Ive always said that Josh Hartnett is. legit a really good actor, more than just a. heartthrob. His recent work in Oppenheimer and Black Mirror also further prove this
OMG 🤦🏽♂🤦🏽♂🤦🏽♂ .......here goes the cackling jackassssss 😒😒😒😒like come on, look at that BIG, OBNOXIOUS, JUG OF WATER😒😒at least have some Beer in there😒😒😒😒 smh. anyway...... LOVE YOU ZACKKKK!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
Lmfao. Is this an AI response? Almost want to interpret this as parody. Honestly appreciate both Zack and Eddie. Zack throws down the blueprint on all of his videos and I appreciate his opinion and insight. I really appreciate how insightful Eddie is and how articulate he can convey the acting and production process. Don’t you think he’s also trying to boost and gas up the pod and Zack? Duh. Great combo. And those vases of ice water look delicious and refreshing. 💦
Halloween H20 is iconic! I feel like it’s truly a 90’s time capsule and brings me back to when I was a kid! The Faculty also has this same effect for me
6:45 was wondering how long before scream was mentioned… time for my first shot of my drinking game 😂
I think Laurie breaking the gate opener and screaming, “MICHAEL!!” was so powerful! She was pretty much saying, “One of us is gonna die tonight, buddy!”
Halloween 1, 2 and this are the only ones that matter. Great trilogy. This one does everything the new one tried and failed at.
It sure did. If they were gonna undo the Michael Laurie sibling thing, I thought oh, maybe they have something even more clever and interesting than that whole thing all for it to “end” the way it did
The last trilogy was just the sequels they erased, with a more « elevated horror » approach. And it sucked.
"This one does everything the new one tried and failed at."
At the end it's all a matter of taste of course, but in my opinion new trilogy nailed big time few aspects H2O is missing - Myer's portryal/look/maks, overall autumn atmosphere and good score.

@@oskar_oskarewicz You’ve just listed everything that sucked about those.
@@mightybitchy This is why I wrote "like it or not", some will love it and some will hate it.
You obviously dislike them.
I liked them a lot.
I agree, Zack! This was Jamie Lee's best performance in the Halloween franchise. She was a fierce mama bear and a true scream queen in this role.
unpopular opinion H20 was definitely my favorite sequel given the time it came out and when I watched it, just a very nostalgic time. same with Scream
Halloween H20 is one of the few films that needed to be longer. It could have used another 20 to 25 mins.
