    Kill the King to become the King, got it. But Pomu is safe, since we are already Pomu. Aye, but jokes aside, she has some good points about the development of anything, really. Writing didn't peak with Tolkien, science didn't peak with Archimedes, movies didn't peak with Spielberg, music didn't peak at Queen or Mozart, art didn't peak with the Mona Lisa, video games didn't peak with Devil May Cry 3. Pomu might never be the biggest, but one of us in all the time we will spend with her, will do something great because of it. When she's 70, stuck frustrated in a queue with a bottle of milk, a bag of wine gums, 10 pack of batteries and some glass spray cleaner, she'll be able to calm herself with the thought that she's made the world a better place, probably created a successful successor, and had a lark doing it, I swear.

    That was a really cool moment to mention. If I was the kouhai to a senpai that told me that, I would feel inspired like I had never been before. So many rising stars already here and they don’t know it yet. Blessed Pomu 🙏

    Very wise words from the greatest forest fairy ever.
    Coincidentally, I was still a bit down about Lulu's graduation while watching this live, but it was reassuring and nice listening to her talk about it. Pomu, I'll be watching your career skyrocket in every step of the way!

    The hardest part about hanging out with streamers and vtubers on pretty much a daily basis is that when they go it's like losing a friend, _i know i know there's no friendships here we're just consumers_ but that's not true is it, we chat, give advice, play games together, make each other laugh, it's a funny kind of relationship but it is one.
    New amazing vtubers will come along but they don't fill the space when someone's gone.

    It's all too easy to get caught up in obsessing over the past, and pretending the future won't be better. You can still celebrate what has come before while exploring what is new and exciting. It's amazing how many people want to take on this line of work, even more so is when those people make the impact that improves things and makes a positive mark in history.

    Makes sense. It's not a competition, but building upon what was to make stuff that's even better can be applied to everything. Computers get faster, cars get safer, and vTubers get more entertaining thanks to everyone's aspirations to be better

    This was just an amazing, thoughtful, and pomu moment. I was genuinely inspired by her words and memories of that AKB member's words. I hope to be greater than I am, so that I can be greater than those who came before me, be it in whatever industry I go into, or even my parents who I look up to for being amazing adults.
    Thank you Pomu, for your perspective, and thank you PPCC (previously PPDC) so much for this clip, I missed this stream and I would never have heard about this if not for your clipping it. I sincerely appreciate your work!

    Awareness and introspection like this isn't something everyone can do. Nijisanji chose some good eggs for their EN Gen1

    i agree. legends of previous generations are there as inspiration for the newer ones, and so will the current ones who will either make it or break it in the next few years. it applies to a lot of things tho, since one's greatness is best experienced in the now, and that can make the viewers/the audience/the witness be the storyteller of that someone. I also think that it's okay for some people to bring up why someone is the best in his/her space, but not use it as basis for another person's own path to greatness. it makes it really wierd and an embarrassment for those who came before them, and makes it even worse for some who didn't gained that much recognition but was also acknowledge by many yet not as much as those on top as ppl perceive. Sometimes reality sucks a lot.
    Mad respect to pomu for this.

    Way I see it, each generation isn’t necessarily better automatically (which I don’t think was the point anyways), but I think it always has to at least be different so that when that generation mingles with the generations before them, the different things they bring can interact with the old things and make something that’s not only new and even _more_ different, but it’s fun and just a good time and moves it forward into a wider thing.
    That’s why I get turned off not only by new generations that try to be like the old, but also new generations that do a 180 and try to directly counter the old. It’s like “no, just do your own thing, and things will get more interesting”.
    I dunno, it’s like 2 AM, but that’s my two cents

    Really interesting topic. For the talents that have graduated, yeah. Their stories are finished, and you should strive to surpass, but I wonder how older gen vtubers still workin their ass off feel about the newer gens coming in and stealing all the spotlight; great for the agency, but i imagine the older talents may feel in this sense, obsolete, even though they're all on the same playing field. Like along with the not giving into nostalgia bias too hard, the same goes for recency bias too. Everyone's out there putting in the grind and trying their best until they graduate.

      I feel like the older, but still active vtubers are in the same situation as the newer members in that case. Sure, they have been active for a longer time, but as long as they are active they will of course also try to strive for improvement to surpass both their retired seniors, but also their past selves. As for newer members stealing their spotlight, while it's true that more and more vtubers lead to more choices having to be made of who to watch, I don't think the newer vtubers will take away much from them, especially as many of the new ones are english speaking, and stream on very different times from the ones that are JP based

    • @darly5448
      @darly5448 3 роки тому +2

      @@PomuPowerCollectionCenter true, especially in ENs case, its not stealing much spotlight nearly as much as it is spreading the attention to a brand new audience and i also forget that because this is a collaborative platform, newer generations being big helps spread attention around the rest of the agency! pretty much a winwin there, like surely there are tons of people like me who are now discovering the rest of nijisanji because of how much we like the en girls

    I get where Pomu's heart is at, but part of the best thing about virtual idols is that it's NOT like the existing idol industry. I think the idea that new generations have to "beat" the old ones is a toxic way of thinking. We should be able to appreciate every generations without saying, "Oh this generation isn't as good" or "That last generation wasn't as good as the new one".

    • @germandragoon6p108
      @germandragoon6p108 3 роки тому +15

      What she means is that the next generations should be much wiser and improve off of the mistakes made by the past gen and continue to improve as themselves. If they don't surpass their past Idols in terms of creativity in content and entertainment then they can't continue to be better.

    • @ruwells5366
      @ruwells5366 3 роки тому

      Well, not all existing idol groups are like that bruh. Different group, different cultures. Don't generalise them into one thing.

  • @SpicyChimkinSammie

    I mean the whole notion of an idol "graduating" is fucked up to begin with. People shouldnt have an an expiry date attached to them. Least to say Vtubers of which the term shouldnt even apply to begin with.
    After all the benefits of being a Vtuber is that they are "virtual". There's a clear separation between their public persona and their private life, so theoretically they can continue doing what they do until the day that they die since they can express their personalities and talents without having to be bound by superficial notions such as age and appearance.
    I feel like the Vtuber industry as a whole should just discard the use of the term "graduation". It's nothing more than a relic of a highly toxic and dysfunctional industry.
    I mean imagine if Coco had announced that she was "retiring" as opposed to "graduating". Some people may not care for the nuance but to me there's a big difference. One retires of their own free will, there's a feeling of finality and accomplishment attached. Where as a graduation is out of one's control.
    At the very least, I feel that there would've been less of a backlash and fans would have been more accepting if they understood from the beginning that the decision to quit was made of her own free will and not one that she was forced to make.

    • @SolitaryLark
      @SolitaryLark 3 роки тому +3

      I do prefer just calling it retiring, there is an odd connotation to “graduation”.

    • @neidhardt8093
      @neidhardt8093 3 роки тому +1

      I don't think you understand what the term graduation means, especially in relation to idols. It doesn't have any inherent negative connotation, nor does it imply a lack of free will. Most of the time it simply means leaving on good terms to possibly pursue better things or a different career path. Retirement isn't really an appropriate word to use for a lot of them, especially if they're leaving to pursue solo careers.
