One of the great break up songs of all time with just an incredible ending. One of the great lines of all rock music, "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life. I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why, why, why can't be miiiiine?" Eddie Vedder's vocals are masterful. Their song Betterman is another that you might like.
You have officially been "Veddered"!! Welcome to the world of Pearl Jam!!! Eddie puts EVERYTHING into every single song and he has for 30 years. Even at 56 years old now, he stills gives everything! RECOMMEND: "Better Man" Live at Madison Square Garden. You'll see just how good they are Live and an amazing crowd participation moment.... Also, I think you'll really appreciate the message in the song. Great reaction!
Super sweet reaction... perfect...and yes this is a personal song for him... you’re disciplined...you didn’t shed a tear... this old man,, mid 60s...did tear up a bit
Eddie sings not only with his voice but with his whole body. My favorite lyrics ever... "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life. I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky... But why, why why oh why can't it be mine...."
I am 40 and I listening grunge since high school, and I love to watch your reactions. There is so much sincere. positive and emotional music from grunge era that is very hard to leave behind. God bless you.
The pain... that was a whole experience. I've watched and listened to that song probably around 100 times by now and every time it brings tears to my eyes
The incredible thing about Eddie Vedder is that he *feels* every song he sings, every time he sings it. Because the songs he writes are so personal, it's like he pours his soul out on stage. If you're interested in continuing with Pearl Jam, I recommend Better Man. Eddie wrote it when he was in high school. At a live performance in Atlanta in 1994, he dedicated the song "to the bastard that married my mama." The way the song has been performed over the years has evolved - for years now, the audience sings the entire intro while Eddie plays guitar. Powerful. Like singing at church!
I was in college and broke up with my girlfriend of 7 years when this album came out and I couldn't listen to this song.It has my favorite lyrics of all time. The part that goes"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star in somebody else's skies but why can't it be mine"Just wow so good.
Their record company wanted them to release the song as a single. Band said no because it was too personal. Despite this, the song reached either #2 or #3 on the charts. Eddie wrote the lyrics and, yep, it was very personal to him. He once said it took him about 10 years to "get right" when performing it. When the rather thick-headed interviewer asked what he meant by "get right", he just stared at the buffoon for a few seconds and left the interview.
Their entire Unplugged set was fantastic. For another slower, "pretty" song, their performance of Oceans was great. For something more upbeat and rocking, State Of Love and Trust, Jeremy, or Porch are must-watch.
GABI -- intense at 3:15 mark - you ain't seen nothing yet ....... WOW is what I always say watching this - THANX for appreciating it on a late discovery
Eddie Vedder made me think of Chris Cornell, he died by suicide. 😭 But anyway you should react to Chris Cornell singing a cover of Nothing Compares to You. I believe Prince wrote it, but Sinead O'Connor made it famous. It's just a cello, A guy on drums and Chris with his acoustic guitar. Great song!
And he recorded this unplugged with a chest cold. How can it be Eddie Vedder that this? If you loved this version, check the one from 1992 at the Pinkpop festival, it was pure, raw emotion. Wait, I'll leave the link below. 😉 Much love from Portugal. ua-cam.com/video/n3r9KWth84Y/v-deo.html

I can't watch this performance without that hurting knot filling my throat and blurring tears flooding my eyes. Every. Time.
Wow. Glad to see someone from an older age appreciate Eddie. I'm 44 and have been following them since they started. Bless you my dear.
I'm 55 and absolutely love Pearl Jam.
This song was so personal that you could actually feel his pain pouring out of the depths of his soul.
Much like Love, Hate, Love by AIC

He was (is) just stunning.
Knowing the album song, the added entreaties at the end of this performance.. whoah.. So earnest and intense.

It’s really an incredible song, and that performance! We were feeling it WITH you!✌️
Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, and the rest of the Grunge bands put their hearts and souls in their music.
Eddies beauty in his voice is how he leads the rough into the smooth with that vibrato....he's so good.
Great reaction to a great song.
Glad you appreciated his voice.

Love the emotions you have to these reactions.
Great reaction
I was 11 when TEN was released. I understood the lyrics eleven years later.
Please do Where Did You Sleep Last Night by Nirvana MTV Unplugged. Haunting!

Gabi! i recommend to listen Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam, the best song of them in my opinion, greetings from Peru! Long live to grunge
Quite possibly my favorite reaction to this video. And I’ve watched a hundred.
korn - Daddy. there's emotion
Please react Pearl Jam - Jeremy live mtv (unplugged) is insane
When you singing in church, it's not feeling's it's something else, praying upwards
And he recorded this unplugged with a chest cold.

Now do Temple of the dogs-Hunger strike with the same singer
Women say men don't have emotions, we just can't touch them very often.
Great a women at my age
Pearl Jam - Jeremy (uncensored)
The studio version is way more detailed. Listen to this then go to the studio. Some of the lyrics change.
Nice reaction, and the biggest takeaway here is that they do NOT belong together!
Bring lyrics up so you can follow. Eddie Vedder is his name.
Lyrics would be very helpful here.
same issue with your other vids
😜
the meaning behind the song:(
Lady, you need to raise the volume of your voice. Can't really hear anything you are saying
Great reaction
